Karakia, belief and forgiveness bring Kanea Hicks back from the brink

  • An unprovoked attack almost 18 months ago left Kanea Hicks with injuries so serious doctors stopped giving her drugs to fight infection.
    However with the support of her whānau and Te Arawa kapa haka groups this feisty trainee teacher is fighting her way back from a senseless act of violence.

    Wow! Kanea you're absolutely incredible. I was brought here after watching an episode of 'Women in Blue' that featured a very small part of your story, and I was intrigued to know more about you. It's clear you have a wonderful loving family and community surrounding you, and I hope your recovery is still progressing with leaps and bounds.
