BlennerHassett Island State Park

In this week’s video we spent the day in Parkersburg West Virginia. We visited the Blennerhassett Museum and Then took a sternwheeler ride to the island, we did a tour of the mansion, took a Horse and buggy tour of the island and had a very nice stroll around also. This is worth the trip for a relaxing day. Before we left parkersburg we stopped at a local restaurant called Rubi’s they really had some great Italian food. We did not get any video of the food but you will see some great pic.

We visited this past weekend. Im from western PA and I had never heard of this island. Its beautiful. I was disappointed to learn that the mansion is not the original but a reproduction. Its still a gorgeous house. Parkersburg has some extremely friendly people. I also loved seeing the old Putnam House because its pretty much the same as it was 200 yrs ago. Did your guide tell you that Harman Blennerhasset was the uncle of his wife Margaret? Its sad the mansion burned down.
