In Sadr City, Baghdad, 32 football-crazy boys live, eat, study and sleep together in a rented two-bedroom house which functions as an unofficial orphanage.
The orphanage receives no government or NGO support. It exists only because of the dedication and energy of Husham and his small team of helpers who felt they had to do something - anything - to tackle a problem that threatens to undermine Iraqi society.
The children who are Sunni, Shia, Kurdish and Turkuman are representative faces of contemporary Iraq, and their lives sum up one of the deepest issues facing Iraqi society today.
The boys are just a handful of the five million children, who according to Iraqi government figures, have been left parentless in successive waves of violence since 2003.
Husham and his workers spend their days trying to cope with the practical and psychological fallout from the trauma that has shattered Iraq in the past decade.
Young Saif lost both his parents in a bomb blast and it has taken a great toll on him. He feels alone in the world and fights with everyone and anyone.
And there is also a new threat: the landlord of the house wants to sell the property, leaving the boys and their carers with nowhere to go.
Filmed over the course of several months, In My mother's Arms presents an astonishing portrait of life in the orphanage. The children laugh, squabble and cry together and take uncertain steps on the road back to a normal future. And Husham and his colleagues face up to the ongoing struggle to support the boys under their care with humour, resilience and unwavering determination.

Here is a very decent person. You can see he worries and cares for these kids and I'm sure the kids' parents would be pleased to see what he's managed to do.
My heart was so heavy for these kids, I had to find out what was happening. I guess as of 2016 they were flourishing and he even opened another building for older boys. Im so glad he has done so much for those kids, they needed someone like him.

I don't know how old this video is but if this man is still helping to save these children how can people like me around the world who want to help him how can we help?? I would like to send money to help is there a go fund me or something?? May God bless him and the children♡

War is so ugly......why must there be so much conflict?. These kids have been exposed to too much violence and mayhem they deserve so much more. God help and bless them all.
Wow, the boy at 36:12, such a great role model and brother like encouraging Saif to do well in school. Very mature positive and insightful and dedicated to bettering himself. He will be successful in life. Good luck to him and all the boys for a better future!

Good presentation, but a very sad story. Allah bless this man and his helpers who work so hard to make a positive difference for each of these boys. We can only imagine how tired he is, the sacrifices he makes with his family and how much they all need. I pray for good things - health, safety and peace.
I went on their facebook page but there is no information on how to donate to the orphanage or on how to contact Husham. Any suggestions?

الأيتام يستحقون كل الحب والأحترام والأهتمام وعتبي على الدوائر الحكومية المعنية بألأيتام تقديم الدعم والعطف لهم ولكن مع احترامي الكبير للأستاذ الباحث الأجتماعي يستخدم مع الأيتام اسلوب تقليدي اكلاسيكي في التعامل معهم اسلوب الثواب والعقاب من الأفضل استخدام اساليب حديثة حتى يتلافى المشاكل بين الأيتام وانا اعرف العمل صعب جدا مع الأطفال وتحديد سلوك كل طفل يتطلب جهد كبير

Long story short is that I'm an Iraqi web dev, currently working on the "iraqi home" official site, It's bilingual so don't worry about Arabic, Errrrr ... so yeah .. all info will be there about how to send, support and what not ... Husham is doing great and is still helping orphans .. He even helps them get jobs after graduating, get homes and even wife's (yeah that's a thing here in Iraq u kinda find your wife) so yeah that's it for now Cheers

Um Nemleh, Islam does promotes an adption or fostering, where the family lineage ( parents ) of the child is known. However you will need to research what the laws of the land says about ita adoption policy. Hope this helps.
Why not allow orphans to be adopted? Whats with the law against adoption? May I know why adoption is banned? I would love to support your efforts.
There is still no information about how to hell Husham's orphanage on that Facebook page. Is there any updates on how the children are doing?
