It looks like you were doing the empty cells incorrectly(unless I'm misreading the rulebook). The "cells" are the open enclosed hexes created by surrounding areas with tiles, not the blank spaces on the hive tiles. They are the areas you could put nectar tiles into. So, if you don't put a nectar tile in the opening, it is an empty cell. At score time, both Rena and Shera had 3 empty cells in a line, but Alex only had 2. Love the videos, and the reviews, and love how honest and genuine you all are with opinions. The main problem our group had with this game is that for 90% of the game, it's worth way more points to sell nectar straight to the market, so we all ignored the orders until the market was almost fully minimized, and then switched focus. By that time, we were literally running out of hive tiles, and the game really began to outstay its welcome in terms of how long it was taking. We also had the "most empty cells in a row" goal, which extended the game as we were kind of all fighting for that, which meant we again were not focused on filling orders. Obviously not a game for a group of min-maxers.
I think the order cards aren’t supposed to be flipped over until the end of your turn so you don’t get to fulfil another from the same stack twice in a row. Maybe that’s why your order stack runs out so fast? Quack 🦆
I dont think the move during 9:20 was valid. Alex was only supposed to do 3 Forage move, 1 Decree and 1 Produce (5 total). Mistake was he took 2 extra Forage moves. First time we played it we also did this mistake, it's easy to forget. Rule book page 7 "Each action icon can only be activated once per turn, even if you create multiple empty cells adjacent to that space. However, it is possible to activate multiple different copies of the same action icon in a single turn."
If anyone doubts how good your reviews are, they only have to hear: Shera: I think you can run out, I wanted to generate more but couldn't." Rena: Oh, that's because I was playing with them in my hands and they weren't on the board!" 😂 Great job as usual guys, and sorry if I butchered the spellings of the girls names.
Thanks for the play and review! I do hope to share the expansion info with you soon. :) Also for Shira (sp?) scores are not always so close. I have a feeling you'll find a blowout win soon. ;)
Hi! First of all I want to send sone big love to your tribe from Montréal! Im a fan of your work. Elf Creek seems to make really good games with great accessibility. I have to give a shoot at Honey Buzz it’s look cute and fun. My wife and I really love Atlantis Rising and we are looking forward for Merchants of the Dark Roads!
You should give the memory variant a try. I think the fact that it is referred to as the 'memory' variant turns a lot of people off to giving it a try. When, in reality, it doesn't really require you to have a good memory. What it does require is a deeper and more systematic tile-laying strategy. If you build your hive in a manner that you can accept a variety of nectar types, then, theoretically, you can pick up whatever you land on. So, you build not only for diversity but also with an attempt to meet the queen's orders. At higher player counts the memory variant also helps to prevent other players from monopolizing certain nectar types. They can't beat you to something and take it if they don't know where it is, so I do think that it helps to create a bit of a balance there. With the Honey Pot expansion, you also have the option to store nectar if you don't currently have a space for it in your hive, so that can be helpful with the memory variant in play.
Thanks for the fun video. Apparently, the version in which you play a memory game with the tiles was the original one. It was changed due to player reaction during development.
The more I watched the more interested I got. I didn't see that coming because of the theme for me. Though I'm gonna be looking into this. The Quack army shall not rest! QUACK!
I think these group reviews could benefit from a little more structure, maybe a second cut where each of you could gather and express your thoughts? The banter is cute, but the content I’m here for can get lost at times
Rats I didn't beat the spam🤪 Shira the double agent😍 she has no character flaws🤬 As a kid my dad said he would see my intestines when yawning so now I always keep a hand before my mouth, so oke maybe one😇

Quack! Keep up the good work! This channel is the reason I started expanding my collection through kickstarter backs. Love the content you put out! 😊
I always listen and watch everything at 2X speed. “It’s so squishy” is epic! Quack 🦆
I'm under the impression that Shira is a ruthless and unforgiving opponent... I love that.
Quack! So happy to see this channel grow. Keep it up!
I heard about that expansion. There was a lot of buzz about it :P
Come on, don't bee like that!
@@Kolvarg These puns sting.

Quack!
I love the drama you two always have.😂
Love your videos! :)
Quack!
Thanks :)
2:32 Uh.. no, those are not empty cells. Empty cells are the ones in the middle, after you've fully surrounded them with those tiles.
Good catch!
Quack! Love your Channel!
Just bought this game and I'm so excited to play it.
I resent being referred to as a number! But also, accurate, so I can't really complain.
Thank you 211, much appreciated :)
@@BoardGameCo I was kind of hoping to be 24601. Pretty iconic, if you ask me. But you didn't.
This game looks fun, thanks for the playthrough guys. 😉

Loving the content and even more happy to learn you are Canadian! Have you ever considered some sort of award for exceptionally good games?
Canadian too? And I thought I couldn't love this channel any more.
9:37 If I'm not mistaken, you made an illegal repeat move.
