ZTE SPro 2 Review: Cool Android Gaming Is Just Part Of It | Pocketnow

  • We’ve seen a few companies experiment with smartphones and pico projectors for a while, and none with positive results. But what happens if you do things backwards, and instead you build a projector that’s powered by Android?
    This ZTE’s second attempt at redefining how a projector should work, and the idea is to mix the capabilities of a regular 200 lumens projector with some Android smartphone capabilities. The combination has a ton of potential, since you can carry the SPro 2 with you anywhere and project your favorite movie, or play your favorite game from any wall in your place, or on the go.
    I'll admit this was one of the products that impressed me the most at CES 2015, and while the idea can be expanded to many usage scenarios, the implementation is definitely something you should notice in our full video review. Make sure you also catch our hands-on video from our CES 2015 coverage, and our Unboxing video as well.

    I wish they would make more like this. In my opinion, these are the best. The newer projectors don't even have an on-screen. What sucks, though, is that Netflix is no longer supported on the device. I couldn't even load it anymore. I wanted to see if I can put Plex on it, but looks like the browser needs to be updated...not sure that can be done. ZTE or Samsung needs to make a new one similar to this. I'd buy it!

    Remove the data plan and monthly fee stuff and lower the price and I might consider getting it. It'd be perfect on vacations with caravan or tent.

    I really like this. I've been predicting devices like this for years. I'm so glad to see it come to fruition.
    And this is just the start. I half expect at Google IO Android M to support and vary this kind of idea forward.

    • @DerrickBest
      @DerrickBest 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** not the smart projector aspect. The gaming side.
      My personal predictions are that devices like this and mobile devices will become more powerful and incumbents like Sony and Microsoft will have to contend with a more saturated market.

    I think a 16:10 or 4:3 aspect ratio would've been much better for this device. This device is primarily in landscape, and 16:9 is to wide for longterm landscape use.

    • @rg0
      @rg0 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Internet Enzyme 4:3 is primarily for reading books. Most videos and many presentations are 16:9, and games are as well.

    • @TheInternetEnzyme

    At $399 for which a 2 year sounds like a complete rip off, when you can add about 100 bucks on top($499) plus tax and be out of a 2 year contract that will cost what $15x24=$360.
    Then again its ATT so I'm not surprised.

      @Alcahas 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      XDKX101 Because the S801 is a piece of crap, right ? /s
      Come on, it's running at 720p onscreen and 480p when projecting it's more than enough. Using Tegra K1/X1 with sub-1080p content would be retarded

    • @XDKX101
      @XDKX101 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alcahas I didnt say the 801 is a piece of crap. Clearly there's more to be improved, including the resolution output. But it doesnt change the fact that it is still a last gen processor. They could make a real gaming version of this thing with a 1080p output and an X1 to power it.

      +X-Techi u buying things u dont need? :p
      it s not more expensive than high end smartphone.
      it can be used as hotspot, videoprojector, anything a phone can do, etc etc...now if u dont need a video projector, why buying it?
      watching a movie or playing with it is not a positive experience, cos in fast action it becomes blur.
      u can still get the Spro2 without 4G too, 150$ cheaper, avoiding ebay of course.

    • @rickjames4283
      @rickjames4283 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stephanie Hamilton lol actually, it has been totally worth it. I am using it as we type to project to a 100" screen in my office while I work. I also use it for outdoor movie nights. I ended up buying a pull up screen that has a scissor type jack/stand built into it. I found that my only reservation for using it at first, was not having a good wall/screen to project to.
      So for me, its just flat out awesome...if you are looking for super high end video for more of a home theater setup...then you can find a better solution. With my needs, its great though. I have it on a tripod, projecting over my head basically to the screen on the wall behind my computer monitors. I switch between YT videos, DirecTV streaming, Netflix and simply using as a third monitor.
