@@markr.h.2574no hand luggage and carrying on are different. Hand luggage is like a hand bag (purse to Americans) or Fanny pack (bum bag) and must be able to fit under the seat in front of you. People use this to put their passports, boarding passes, tissues etc. in. Carry on must be 10kg or less and fits into the over head. People use this for things like spare clothes, shoes, toiletries etc. If the over head is too full you may be asked for this piece of luggage to go in the hold. 😊
You gotta roll with it. As someone who worked for an airline for 25 years and have flown standby all over the place. You gotta enjoy the travel adventures that life brings you.
Agree! In France and Europe, we seldom see a flight on time at the end of the day. Planes often arrive late and schedules are delayed. When we want an on time flight, we chose a morning departure
Stephanie, I admire you so much I would be flipping out and you have remained calm and upbeat. Hope you can get some rest this evening so you can be perky when you get home. Lots of love to you.❤
You make even a rainy day an adventure of fun and suffer joyfully when things don't go as planned. It's lovely that you share the reality of travel. I really enjoy your vlogs, Stephanie!
As we say in German: Wenn einer eine Reise tut, kann er was erleben. 🤳 You handle this unexpected shock/incident/adventure very graciously and with sovereign dignity! ☺ 🥱 Wish you a very deep sleep. 😘
Stephanie will be fine. Travelling all over the world as an independent single woman, way before she met Philip. It will do her good. Happy travels Stephanie xx
Good luck Steph! Enjoy your 1 day in China. You are making the best out of a very annoying situation. Definitely pack extra clothes and toiletries on your carry on next time. It's better to be prepared for unexpected situations.
I had a thing like that happen coming back from USA first the plane was diverted to Houston and they told me I could sort out my ongoing travel (train tix voided by the delay) when I got to London. When I got to London I was told I should have dealt with it in Houston and when I told them what I had been told the United Airlines rep at London *literally* called me a liar to my face- after a long distressing argument they finally gave me a travel voucher that would get me home so long as I went via the underground to Woking (multiple changes, many stairs, with my 2 heavy suitcases (I had been a month in LA) instead of the Heathrow/Woking bus which didnt accept the voucher. The roughest journey of my life getting through the Underground that day, and couldnt get a seat on the Woking to Southampton train either, such an insane ordeal, Ive never been anywhere since. That was 12 years ago now
My parents had a similar delay flying UK to Japan a few years ago. They were put up into a VERY nice hotel in Dubai at no charge, and after they returned to the UK, they were refunded 85% of their travel costs. My parents were very happy!!!
Stephanie, I love the way you keep it together, and look on the bright side! I know you are human and probably loose your cool sometimes. But, I have watched you be grateful and awesome, even in rough times for years! I have always tried ( and sincerely feel it ) grateful and find the bright side despite some very hard times in life. Safe journey the rest of the way home! With joy, Audri
Best attitude ever, my dear! I had a seven hour unexpected layover once. And, at the time, I had a broken foot, was in a cast and on crutches. My attitude sucked.
What an adventure! Slept well? Ate dim sum, yum! A bad situation turned into a trip to China 🇨🇳 You do everything with grace. Love from sunny ☀️ Florida
The second you mention getting Philip an umbrella I thought “oh goodness I hope she knows Japanese umbrellas are not normal umbrellas and are super expensive!” 😂 In learned the hard way too. 😂 But I will say mine is a folding Japanese umbrella it weighs NOTHING and it has traveled the world with me in every condition possible for 22 years without ever sticking or breaking. They are the best umbrellas you will ever buy. ❤
I agree the kitchen looks much better without it's curtains. Robert Adam the great 18th century architect & interior designer would never cover his dining room walls with fabric as the smells from food could linger on it. So may be the chateau should 'loose' it's kitchen curtains?
I laughed when you said about your flight being cancelled. Sorry. Been there done that. I seems that whenever I travel things unexpected always happen but it always works out, eventually. Have a good time.
OMG, you are just like me. I barely missed my nonstop from CDG to SF and mistakenly got on the NEXT flight, and it took me to Chicago, and there were a thousand people standing in line in customs before me. I literally dumped the rental car into a garage and found the desk and they went to find the car, so that was helpful. I should have taken a taxi back to the gallery and had a nice Parisienne afternoon on my terrace (Suite with a HUGE tub which after all these years I fill up very slowly super hot with bubble bath, salts, everything until I am ready at the end of the night keeping is HOT HOT HOT), and then take a taxi back to the correct terminal to get on the nonstop. I LOVED the Kyoto patreon update. I hope you bought yourself and Phillip gorgeous Kimonos. The umbrella is Very Nice, and I still have one from Venice from 30 years ago which I love, but a great Kimono is so perfect to throw on over something if you are answering the door, or showing up for coffee or tea with guests, and is always a show stopper. Lots of xoxo from California! Cheers!
Stephanie if I had been in your place I surely would have panicked and cried..but you are a Braveheart and so positive minded..❤❤❤you are an inspiration to me..❤❤❤safe journey dear..
Well, these are things you have to expect while traveling. Sounds like you are making the best of it. Can’t wait to see tomorrows vlog. Regarding the curtains If there is enough fabric you could fashion them in to a roller shade or another style and still keep the same fabric.
I’m so sorry Stephanie missed her flight! I want to comment on the kitchen windows. I agree totally with Phillip to leave the windows without curtains. The kitchen is light filled and feels more modern and clean with the curtains gone. Thank you for your vlogs, I enjoy them very much.
Oh, long travels, then delays. I’ve been there. Remember being stranded in the Denver or Detroit airport til 4 in the morning. However, at about 9pm I bought Tima Feys book, “Bossy Pants” (this happened about ten years ago) and sat there laughing out loud all night long. Thank you, Tina! You did it again! 😆 I feel for you, Stephanie. That’s really hard, but in true Brit fashion you’ve kept your stiff upper lip! Very proud of you for rolling with the punches! I’m sure you’ll have a long Rip Van Winkle sleep when you get home. 🏡
I thought Stephanie said that her flight to China from Japan was delayed, and that in turn would make her miss the connecting flight to France. How is that in her control? Lol 😂
Stephanie, you have to be one of the most optimistic persons I’ve ever met. Looking forward to seeing Tokyo tomorrow. I’m glad that you are safe and sound and snugged in. How is it? You look so good when you’re so tired sending love from LIZ in California💜🤟🏻💕😎🇺🇸
less is more… 1 egg, s&p or any combo of spices, panko if you’re a little low on meat to person ratio. oats will work too if in a pinch. definitely not flour. don’t overwork the mix, you’re melting the fat. they’ll end up tough and less flavorful.
I’ve watched these videos twice this week and I appreciate you have shared so much . Prayers for fair winds and following seas today as you try to get home Sweetie 😘
Oh my goodness that would be my worse nightmare. I'm generally well organised & vg communicator, well travelled. However that would completely throw me & I'd be in a mega panic !! Amazed you take it all in your stride. Well done Uhoo.
Be safe Stephanie, we will be watching for you tomorrow night! I can only imagine the global alarm if you fail to post a video….is this globe trotting run amok?
I wish I had the energy to make my own hamburger buns when we have hamburgers, I am so jealous I would like Marie to come live with me in Vegas please, I said please.😅
All those people making negative comments do not travel except from their basement to the kitchen. It's becoming more common for flight delays, frustrating.
Oh Stephanie, I feel so bad for you. I have been there, and waiting to get back to dear Philip and Lancelot must be so hard. But you are the most positive person ever! We admire that about you so much! Thank you for bringing us along on your trip too, you really have a beautiful life. Praying for your safe return 🙏 Raven♥️🙏♥️
I was feeling sympathy for you as I once spent many long hours in Guangzou airport and it was FREEZING! Thank you for sharing your travels and including the downs as well as the ups. I know you only show edited highlights but I love that you are honest and so resilient
The burgers were a wonderful joint venture, well done! Sadly Dim Sum is an evening meal so Stephanie won't likely find it for breakfast, but there will be tea.
I love that you always manage to make lemonade out of lemons 😊
As someone who was once stranded in an airport for 21hours I now always carry a full outfit change and toiletries in my carry on
How funny that you call it your carry on. You certainly mean your hand baggage 😂
Also if ur suitcase get lost in transit it good have a change in ur pull alongside

The kitchen looks nicer without the curtains. Bonus is they won't collect all the kitchen grease

Well done for coping Steph. There must have been moments of true disappointment but thank goodness for snacks and tea lol🤗
Flights are messed up all over the world!
yes delays happen all over the world everyday, & they can always cause problems with any connections needing to be made at the other end

…. that’s why I keep coming back Stephanie - my memoirs are entitled ‘Keep Your Sunny Side Up’ too! 💖💖
Just make the best of it! It's an adventure!

At least it looks like a very nice hotel!!
Poor Stephanie! What a day!
Safe travels Stephanie.
Glad you checked curtains in kitchen.
You are the most positive person in the world! Love your attitude! I wish I were more like you!

I agree, Stephanie you have the best attitude to life. Love watching your adventures and daily life at Lalande , all the way from Australia 💕

You are such a positive person.. Can't wait for our unexpected day in China.
I adore Chinese antiques, porcelain or china ...and old Chinese furniture and tables/consoles, etc. Maybe Stephanie can find a warehouse of antiques.
Safe travels home Stephanie.
Stephanie, excellent frame of mind for missing your plane, which was not your fault!!!

I think it does help, better light for working in too.
