  • Had a completely wild day visiting New Orleans, Louisiana during Mardi Gras. But it wasn’t the kind of crazy you would expect in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, instead, the whole city flooded! The rain was light during the beginning of the day, and by the end of the day, all the streets were covered in water, even saw a couple cars almost fully submerged, the city was flooding.
I thoroughly enjoyed eating, a Poboy sandwich, eating beignets, watching the parades. I could not believe the amount of things that were being thrown from the floats from footballs, to beads, to stuffed animals, to serving plates, to hats, to sunglasses, etc. I loved hearing the bands!
Experiencing bourbon Street was much different than I had anticipated, it was raining so hard there was hardly anyone on the street, which made me think that I probably got to experience the street more of what it was several decades ago. The first time I walked down the street a banded walked out in front of me, and I had so much fun walking with the band as they played in the rain walking down the street.
I visited cemetery number one early in the day, and it was so beautiful and peaceful, I love visiting cemeteries. On the way back to my car that was parked in the city park, I was riding the red trolley, and I had a fairly frightening encounter with a man who said he had just gotten out of jail. After being in jail for 16 years for a crime he did not commit, he demanded my phone, and I would not give it to him Cocaine once…
Definitely a memorable day, I loved my time in New Orleans, and would go back in a heartbeat!
