    En ik vind het nog prachtig om floppies af te spelen op de 1541-II diskdrive waarvan ik twee bakken vol van heb.

    The noise in Outrun should be from depacking, not from loading. ;-) Otherwise good overview, but it would have been interesting to know how the dead test performs on a really dead C64 (ie with black or scrambled screen output). Normally diagnosis should be given through LEDs on the cartridge itself in such a case.

    Can i ask what is that yellow cart with an LCD screen plugged into the user port on the left at 5:30? I don't understand this part. Recently i have got my hands on a C64 and trying to fix it. Take note i have never own a C64 back in the days, so it's all new to me. Bought a SD2IEC+FastLoader. I think the cart port is working as i can see the "FASTLOAD" word on startup, but i can never access the S2DIEC sdcard which i eventually came to conclusion that both my 6526 CIA chips are at least partially faulty hence it can't access the SD2IEC and Datasette (i have an ori physical one). I really don't want to spend any more money going down into the rabbit hole trying to fix it....bought new PSU, new cables, new ARM SID on the way (SID is dead), fastloader and buy ancient CIA chips which could probably die soon anyway. The Backbit seems like a good solution since it's only using the cart port and it allows me ti run the games/apps from SD card without needing to access to any of the IEC, cassete port and user port (all which likely not working due to bad CIAs). So i just need a clearer picture of what is that yellow cart and do i need it for BackBit to work? Any response is much appreciated! Tq!

    • @RetroGameCouch
      @RetroGameCouch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The yellow cartridge is called the UK1541. It's a diskdrive emulator, just like the SD2IEC, but on a much deeper level. You don't need it to get the SD2IEC working.

    The problem with the 1541 isn't so much the drive itself as it was the fact that Commodore in their infinite wisdom hardly put any native disk commands in their BASIC, so it had to rely on separate chips within the 1541 itself.

    • @menotu000
      @menotu000 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is there a way to transfer games from this to a physical cassette in c64?

    • @nateschultz8973
      @nateschultz8973 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would require running the program that performs the transfer out to the cassette from the cart (or chain loaded from some other source), but I am pretty sure that it's theoretically possible.

I'm really so tired of constantly clicking on youtube's recommendations of videos I've already watched to set not-interested then to be able to say "I've already watched this video" while it's not recommending videos I obviously want to watch. I can not browse the videos in the subscribed channels area too because there are about 300 channels and all channels release videos at different intervals and also I don't want to watch every released video about all my interests all the time too.
