Bernard has an amazing voice, and is a better guitarist than one would think watching him play. He and Gillian create incredible and totally unique spiritual riffs. I went to the UK looking for this sound and couldn't find it. There was only one. I think Gillian may be a genius. Her riffs are as sublime as classical music.
@@bicuriousdirtbikeboi2594 thank you! It was really harsh times. My two best friends passed tragically, in a matter of 1 month of difference. One of them, Alexis died the day of my birthday 14th. My bestie Mariana committed suicide a few weeks later due to sexual abuse and unwanted pregnancy. So tbh I’m not sure how I survived. I wasn’t able to attend her funeral. Her parents didn’t tell anyone.
@Sofia about Joy Division i agree but...New Order I'm not quite Right as you. But u gave my like becouse both of us agreed in Love Joy Division and New Order. I hope can see New Order at live Again as I saw in 2018, São Paulo, Brasil
This is, by far... New Order's definitive song! Peter Hook on bass, Bernard Sumner on guitar, Stephan Morris on drums, and Gillian Gilbert on keyboards... this is the lineup that made the New Order sound!
I knew when I saw her, and this song was playing... At that very moment, I would never let her go. And I told her, and all she could do was smile back at me with those big beautiful eyes..... God I love her so much
“Age of consent” has a similarity to “Transmission”. This song is a kind of continuation of what they did as Joy Division but is major key. Notice that Bernard’s melodies in “Transmission” are now distributed to vox and synth They were actually poise to be the ultimate nonsynth “synth” band ever, Morris’ drumming and Hookie’s basslines set perfect to synth.
This is my all time favorite New Order track. Takes me back to '83! It was truly a wonderful time! I've always believed it should have been released as a single! Ethereal sounds emanate from Gillian Gilbert's Keyboards! Gillian's Keyboards are the most beautiful sounding ever on a recording! I love Stephen Morris' aggression on Drums! Peter Hook is playing his big sounding Gibson EB2 Bass Guitar! Great Lead Vocal by Bernard Sumner! Sumner plays his Gibson ES ~ 355 Guitar! "AGE OF CONSENT" Lyrics ~ Won't you please let me go These words lie inside and hurt me so Lost you, I've lost you, I've lost you, I've lost you, I've lost you
There’s a bunch of amazing songs besides Blue Monday. It is not that I dislike BM, but new order has way better songs. Check their first album Movement. Also Everything’s Gone Green, Ceremony (JD), Vanishing Point.
Won't you please let me go? Just saw them at Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach 2 weeks ago. They were absolutely killer! They had the best light and video show to go along with thier great music.they also played a bunch of Joy Division songs too with Ian Curtiss on the video screen! Brilliant show!
Such a stunning melody stirring memories of a long gone but not forgotten youth. For some strange sensation festive August nights on beach in La Jolla shores and Autumn days driving the winding mountain roads from Lake arrowhead to cuyamaca come to mind. Thank You New Order for transporting me back once more to the best of times.
Ive listened to New Order since grade nine. I never get tired of their music. I seen them for the first time ever in Vancouver last year. Loved every second of it!❤
The sound so many Gen X and Z bands tried to get and couldn't get close. Sorry, guys, there's only one New Order. And a drum machine won't get you there either.
If you wanted to play one song to describe "the 80s sound" this is it...Joy Division & New Order the most influencial bands that nobody really knows about...everything that came after Joy Divs. Closer comes from Joy division
Everyone with some basic knowledge in rock knows who Joy Division is. If they care enough they'll discover New Order. I wouldn't say no one knows these 2 great bands.
This song always reminds me of dancing my ass off at Marina High School in Huntington Beach, great memories! Such a great song, their best, Temptation next!

The synth solo into the guitar and bass riff is just sublime 1:40

Hook going crazy is priceless!!!
One of their best songs ever.
I think the trilogy of Ceremony, Dreams never end and this one, is totally magical
Strange feelings
Nostalgia about something that never happened
There’s only two songs that do that to me. This and the Strokes - Hard to Explain, which is funnily enough hard to explain.

I guess Peter Hook was not with them. Too bad they had such a bad split. Peter was such a driving force in both those bands.
