i am a classical pianist...OSCAR PETERSON...GENIUS ...GIANT OF PIANO AND MUSIC...NO CLASSICAL PIANIST CAN MATCH THIS!!! THIS WORLD IS BLESSED THAT HE EXISTED!!!! THANK YOU PETER THE GREAT...even the great composers of classical music and piano would have KNELT before YOU...sincrely!!!
Oscar is my favorite pianist always has been. I had not ever heard this and I am really blown away by this as I am studying classical now after years of jazz. He literally sounds like 3 guys playing the piano on this first piece. 3
100% for sure Eugen Cicero but Andras it's not about shame. Both of them are masters. Eugen the king of crossover and Oscar the unique one... they shared the same bass player in their trios which is Nils Pedersen so no surprise they get mixed up by mistake
This is of course absolutely not Oscar... Besides this I personally met him in 96 for an interview in the mood a young pianist (me) meet his mentor... And during this interview he talked about musician like Keith Jarrett who did sometime classic and sometime jazz and he clearly was against this kind of melting pot... I personally disagreed whis that (I did a Jazz'in Chopin recording...!) but of course I kept this for me... And by the way this is a good version...
If you watch OP & Andre Previn video, Previn brought up that some musicians take up classical things and play jazz on them. OP shook his head and said, "It's false." I am sure if he'd ever done it, let alone have a recording, he would have owned up to doing so. So, my conclusion is it can't be OP.
I have seen jazz pianists improvise on Chopin and Bach etc. I love Oscar, but I needed clarification on what he meant-unless he meant a classical pianist improvising on it. I've seen jazz musicians improvise on classics.
Cicero plays to soft, so for sure it's O.P.'s technique, brain and attack. Please compare these two recordings of the same Waltz of Chopin and you will hear the difference😀 th-cam.com/video/wAUM7I3_xJM/w-d-xo.html
Guys, he's not Oscar Peterson!😂😂😃 His name is Eugen Cicero! He's a very good pianist but nothing like Oscar. There's something wrong with your ears when you hear Oscar's playing. Don't you know Oscar's repetitive motifs? How come you don't hear this?
This sounds like it was played at half-speed while being recorded, then the recording was sped up to double playback speed. No human pianist could play the runs and scales this cleanly at this speed; the bass is always an octave higher than a bass should be; the piano sounds tinny and distorted. Good try, but I say fraud. It's not Oscar Peterson, although the pianist managed to include a number of Peterson mannerisms and cliches.
You are wrong. The speed is very realistic, and OP had the agility to keep up with it. You have to be a good musician yourself to be able to understand.

This is one of the most amazing things I've ever heard. I'm staggered
not just most amazing...TRULY MIRACULOUS!!! just how is it possible to EXIST even?
Let me just say that Chopin would have LOVED this. A master at work here.

The second piece is from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. The pianist is indeed Eugen Cicero, whose technique is very much inspired bye Peterson's.
This is exceptional. A side to Oscar I never heard before. Thx for posting.
IS NOT OSCAR :) IT IS CICERO

BTW, that Waltz is Grande Valse Brilliante
This is Oscar P. You can compare with Eugen Cicero, even he plays this waltz on TH-cam.O.P's energy, resources and attack can not be mistaken!
Жаль, что нет видеозаписи.

5:03 what is the number of this waltz? I don't recognize him at all.
He starts with Chopin and then continues with Tchaikovsky

Блеск!
I guess Oscar saw no sense to play classics without syncopes ) like Picasso never followed academy painting.
Fantastic but it's not Oscar
His tone is completely different from Oscar's. Can't you hear? How could you be so deaf to being a musician?

Aggressive bop style and passage. This is 100% Peterson. Below you give me Cicero's Chopin. You'll see the difference.
