So glad I found you! I made a dog sweater for a chihuahua using a fleece jacket that 2asnt my color green. It had both ribbed and fluffy fleece. I used the ribbed for the body and the fluffy for the trim. Tres chic! Thank you!
This is Brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial and pattern. I measured my dog, roughly from neck to base of tail, 40cms. Then imported the pattern into photoshop and adjusted till the length was 40cm. Printed on 4xA4 pages and stuck them together. Thinking i would need to adjust something, i used an old sweater in case of mistakes, but it actually turned out perfect. Perfect fit everywhere. So i found another 2 old sweaters and got 3 in total made in a morning. I just used the width of the foot for the seam allowance, as the fabric has stretch, you can't really go wrong. Thanks again, brilliant work.

I figured out a simple way to do the scaling with a computer screen. Take a tape measure, pull it out to 10 inches, then put it on the screen, then size the picture to that back length goes to 10 inches exactly. Take a note of the percentage it's scaled. My screen said 300%. My dog's back is 20 inches long, so the screen should go to 600%. The ratio is 1:30, meaning that 30% on the screen equals 1 inch. Let's say my dog's back is 24 inches, just multiply 30 by 24. That gives me 720, meaning that the screen percentage should 720. If his back was 22 inches then it's 30 x 22 = 660. I don't have an Ipad but I do have a PC, so I just oriented the pattern 90% and laid the screen flat; same idea.

Also of your dog is a teacup a really small dog you can use socks cut the toe off and on the bottom cut the arm holes I recommend buying cute clean socks with cute designs!

Im gonna alter this to a sleeve one and make a King George the Third costume for my Pyrador who's name is George. (Im on a Hamilton hyperfixation rn and my mom said I can't buy a 375$ one from etsy)
This method has worked for my 3 dogs who are all different sizes: Measure your pup from the base of their neck to the base of their tail. This will be the measurement of the long edge of the back pattern. Scale up the pattern according to this measurement. (I normally do this on my ipad and trace it onto baking paper.) You may need to add a little extra fabric on the sides if they are a stockier breed.
