    I think with all the videos I’ve watched, this is the first time I’ve heard that you want to keep the stones wet and not let them dry out. Obviously, you know what your doing. Thanks for all the great info.

    I love your channels for many reasons, but I can summarize those reasons by stating that you teach me about things I wish I'd been exposed to during my youth...even though I'm often only learning about them now. Also, you've been clear that Melissa does not like being on camera, and that recently, she's been sick. The fact that she speaks at all is a great sign! I've been following her flood tribulations since you first posted a vid about her flood. It's a blessing to see the help she's been given by you and others. You provide great content on TH-cam, but you provide outstanding examples of humanity to all. 👍🏻

    I have always said I wanted to do this since I was a little kid I'm 55 and a woman. But I had no idea how much there was to it I thought you just put them in there did it and took them out LOL. It just goes to show. Thank you for doing such a good job and I'll keep watching to see if I really can do this right now in my life I think it's going to be five years when I'm in a place that fits this a little better. Of course then I have to think about them having their own solar panel LOL or maybe I can use hydro?

    I see here a few comments on air quality. You'd be wise to heed. If you want that last 15 years of life, that is. Don't make that stuff fly in the air. Wet it first, always. Those airborne particles DO go into your lungs, shortening your life. And I found, after I got here, I want my last 15 years. You will too!

Not sure if it is as effective as using a toothbrush or not. I purchased a Tumbler from Harbor Freight and I am in the first week of tumbling. I cannot wait to see what they turn out like!

      If they dry with any traces of grit on them the grit hardens into something like a cement that's almost impossible to get off. It runs any shine.

    • @kaptaintrips
      @kaptaintrips 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just listen to 'Texas Waterbird B'. That grit can turn to shit really fast if you let it sit. Always keep your stones nice and moist between tumbles.

    • @gooosfrabaYT
      @gooosfrabaYT 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been taught to keep them wet as well. Apparently if the rocks get dry and you start handling and rubbing them together there's a possibility for them to get scratched and that would totally negate any previous grit levels.

      There are a couple of highly polished moon rocks in Florida and D.C. that have been worn down by millions of people touching them. I've touched them too, one is at Cape Canaveral and the other is in the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. No need to tumble them, I would imagine it was hard to figure out how to get someone from running off with them, though.

      You can get a new 3 pound tumbler for around 90 dollars but it would be better to spend about 40 more and get the double 3 pound tumbler. Mine is a double 6 but it takes quite a lot of rocks to fill even 1 of them and for a person starting out you dont want to wait Lol. I would say that Alf is correct, you can get started on a couple hundred and more than likely you will have enough grit for a few tumbles. Its actually very fun.

    I'm surprised that you take them inside and scrub everything in the kitchen sink after saying that the slurry can set up like concrete in the drain. I could understand it if you didn't do much tumbling, but since you have your own youtube channel, you must do a lot, won't it eventually set up in there?

    • @claradarlenereger7934
      @claradarlenereger7934 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There may not have ben any grit left, and if there is any, probably not enough to stick to the drain. But just one or two individual bits caught in a cavity of the rock could ruin the polish later.
