Right. They won MTV awards and a grammy... Remember that award show in 2005 when Kanye West said, if he had to choose just one act for an award tonight, it gotta be System of a down. 😂 They had no 1 albums, platinum sellers
@@bagelblades He did. Which is remarkable when you're thinking of him, dissing everyone all the time. And the pussycat dolls said, they loved SOAD. But I think it was more for the camera. Maybe they didn't even know a single song. 😄
I love seeing people discovering or getting back to SOAD after a while. These guys are a cut above the rest. Super intelligent dudes and extremely talented.
People are gonna suggest that the next song you guys should listen to is Toxicity. Toxicity and Chop Suey come from the same album (their second album). Personally I think you should start with Sugar from their first album. SOAD has technically been a band since '94 but their current lineup didn't start until '97. Serj Tankian - Lead Singer Daron Malakian - Lead guitar and Co Vocalist Shavo Odadjian - Bass and Backing Vocals John Dolmayan - Drummer This band is extremely political. I would suggest pulling up lyrics when watching music videos or finding lyric videos to follow. Serj though an amazing singer (one of the best in my opinion) has a tendency speed up, growl, or scream lyrics to the point its hard to understand. Everything they do though has a purpose.
When I hear this song and acknowledge the lyrics, I’m somehow brought to tears towards the end. I think this is probably because of the fact that not only are they such good singers producing one of the most sorrowful melodies that just spirals down, but the lyrics are in their perfect habit. I can’t imagine these lyrics with any other tone.
Man, I remember leaving my TV on mtv2 for hours and just waiting for this video and Mudvaynes "Dig" video. It was my introduction to Rock music when I was 13. Great stuff
Only just found your channel in my recommended and I gotta say, I love it! Haven't listened to some of these songs for years and I still remember and love them as much as I did back then! Looking forward to what else you guys check out!
They do use Armenian music inspirations in their sings, even touching the most importan Armenian issue, the Armenian Genocide. And the flag, their waving at the back is Armenian 🇦🇲
I really wasn't into SoaD or any Nu-Metal when it was new in high school but man, metal has brought me back to it and the late 90's and I have so much more appreciation.
Man you guys get props from me just from the Mankind/Cactus Jack/Dude Love reference at the beginning. Mick Foley is easily my favorite from back when I watched. Also absolutely love SOAD, in my opinion you can't go wrong with them.
System of A Down have also made a Song with Wu Tang, it's called "Shame" Other songs by them that I would recommend include "Shimmy", "ATWA", "BYOB", "Holy Mountains", "Tentative" and "Mr. Jack".

They are my homies so proud of them thank you for reacting on their song My favourite one is “Holly Mountains” I just throw it there maybe you want to react to it one day ❤
This song always reminds me of 9-11, because people wanted it banned from the radio, as well as "Bodies" by Drowning Pool in the days following. They didn't succeed, but the stations in Southern New England removed both songs from their playlists for several weeks. I saw SOAD at River Rave in Foxborough, MA in May, 2001, and I couldn't take my eyes off of Daron Malakian. He was one of a handful of musicians that day who was able to rock the stadium.
