    Idea: I wrote a music player WebApp and created a button where you could increase/decrease volume, which sort of works but is limited due to the browser not being able to talk directly to the hardware. This would not be an issue if you programmed it in Java or another language. Would it be possible if Google could develop a (Tool - compiler) that could take your CSS/JS code and encapsulate it so the WebApp could run independently from Chrome allowing the app to access system resources - e.g. volume controls on your phone etc.. without facing the internet directly? Does this make sense? Rather than having to code the same app in another language.

      No, that would break the sandbox which goes against a major point of JS/the web in general. It may be possible via a browser API though.
