Frogger The Great Quest is why I gave up on the series and never grew up and played with Frogger Beyond, it looks like a next gen sequel to Frogger 2 :\ so awesome
I just beat Frogger Beyond like 4 days ago. Very strong game mechanically, I bet you'd like it. In terms of negatives, the biggest flaw is that It isn't polished. When you play a vehicle section you'll understand what I mean, but luckily they are sparse. The title screen also has an eeriness that reminds me of an old DVD menu before starting a movie. The cutscenes are super impressive though. For presentation and art direction, Frogger The Rescue and Frogger Ancient Shadow are better. For gameplay, I believe jumping and avoiding enemies feels the best in Beyond. The Rescue and Ancient Shadow add more utility for the tongue that spice up gameplay, which gives is a nice break from the usual platforming. Beyond lacks these tongue moves so it lacks block puzzles and other variety. Still, I was never bored when playing Beyond. The movement just feels too good, and the enemy patterns are well designed. It has its unfair moments, like the second to last boss is ridiculous, and the perspective is sometimes unclear depending on the stage. I'd recommend using the infinite lives code, it removes the frustrating aspects of the game without removing the challenge (you still die in 1 hit). Try to pick the game up, it is worth your time. Only after playing Beyond did I realize the poor design choices made for Ancient Shadow, which is a shame because that game looks better.
@@pichuflash2769 Wow dude, you should make your own video about Frogger. Being able to know all of that and putting it and more of your own flair and polish into a video would be really cool. I have Frogger Beyond for GameCube, I got it for my nephew though he never even opened it once... guess it's too old for him, being 8 years old now. I've never heard of The Rescue and Ancient Shadow, are those GBA titles? I'll just google them if I have time after posting this, but thank you for basically reviewing the game for me, you're amazing! :D
@@RossWyatt Thank you :p I never thought of making a video, I'm not really a video creator. I'll think about it though, I am on winter vacation from college so it might be something fun to do. The Rescue and Ancient Shadow are Gamecube titles, I think they are on PS2 and Xbox as well. They came out after Beyond only a few years later. Ancient Shadow is from 2005. Speaking of the GBA titles, I've played Frogger's Adventures 2: The Lost Wand. Really good game, short and sweet. I beat it in a couple hours. Not easy either. I’m kinda wanting to get into the series again. I had the original Frogger game on some game collection as a kid and I played it to death, and I remember seeing a Frogger’s Adventure game in the GBA at GameStop once as a kid and I really wanted it, but I didn’t have enough allowance to buy it and another game I wanted. But now I wanna go try some of the other games in the series, now that I got one Frogger vid recommended to me lol. I mainly wanna try Frogger 2, the GBA games, and Helmet Chaos. I might give some of the others a shot too, like Beyond or the other console games that have that tile hopping gameplay. Idk about some of the later ones tho. Like sure, they are probably a lot closer to the arcade classic that I grew up with, but they sorta feel like they took away all that evolution the series went through (Great Quest not withstanding). I may give a few of them a shot tho.
