I do think that the bed , how comfortable your bed is , and how old is your bed , really good beds are expensive , I used to sleep on springs but now I sleep on memory foam with a cooling gel pad and I’ve noticed I sleep with less pain and way more comfort , to me the cooler the bed helps with the pain at night in my bed while I’m sleeping

When I nap in the afternoon (or even at bedtime), I fall into asleep, REM sleep to be exact, within a few minutes. Sometimes before my head hits the pillow. This is because I have narcolepsy. I also have fragmented sleep. So I sleep for a few hours and then am awake for a few hours, and so on. I wonder how much sleep paralysis insomnia suffers deal with? Either way, I feel for you.
Interesting, but my sugar levels run at 70 on average my entire life. This seems to be something that has been unaffected. I can relate the hunger and moodiness though.

Find it wired that no mention of sleeping naked. That has also been shown to improve sleep quality. But nice documentary and really informative.

My grandmother’s sister used to take naps like this. She would hold a spoon over a pie pan and when she dropped her spoon, she’d continue on with her day. She did this her entire life. I’m thinking it was just enough to let her rest without going through the deeper stages of sleep. I have had insomnia since I was a toddler. I am considered to be very high functioning autistic. To complicate matters, I’m totally blind in my right eye and legally blind in my left. I am a braille reader. It has been a struggle my whole life to get to sleep so I became fascinated by the way it works and effects and dreams and the why of those. Found this during last night’s sleep frustration because pain makes for very difficult attempts to get comfortable enough to sleep.

So does any prebiotic work? I've experienced the coffee before nap and that does work. And lots of light in the day is better for me. I have a widespread joint arthritis (degenerative joint disease) so a soft bed certainly makes a difference along with cool room air and a sheet or blanket if I can get the air cool enough. Magnesium also has had an effect but I use a nonadditive muscle relaxer every night too. It only works 4hrs. I have a hard time getting to sleep about half the time but every night I wake up over and over, 5-6 times a night and can vary how long it takes to get back to sleep. Or if I ever do. Sometimes it helps to drink something hot, hot chocolate or tea- putting something warm in my stomach helps settle me back down. I've been restless at night all my life.
