- An extract from the 1961 Courtaulds Film "Star Apprentice" Illustrating aspects of the training of an apprentice at Courtauld's Castle Works in Flint.
I understand the original 16mm distribution print of this film has been lost to posterity. The short item you see here may be a remnant of the only surviving film of a business that in its heyday gave employment, to 16,000 people, in various factories in North Wales..
Old film material like this is very rare. I believe it has a part to play in connecting future generations with an entrepreneurial spirit and energy that made Flintshire and its people unique. If you have anything by way of film or tape that might add to the story of Flintshire's illustrious heritage, please let me know.
