Guy making the video you do realize jim cornette had part ownership over OVW, lol he wasn’t fired he quited, because WWe kept fucking with him and trying to change the way things were going, he never was fired by any company he quited every company he worked for sir
Just a note about the Santino portion of the video, Cornette was actually part owner of OVW with Danny Davis and he didn't directly work for WWE than. I believe he voluntarily sold his portion of the company to Davis because WWE threatened to end development deal with OVW, and then did it anyway 6 months after Jim sold his part.
Trust me he got fired by WWE after he flipped out, he did because he used to work with JR and WWE replaced hilwith Johnny Ace. th-cam.com/video/WGSxMrl0peY/w-d-xo.html here's a full history
Danny Davis owned OVW Jim bought in. There was actually a time Jim was in TNA and he was still part owner of WWE’s developmental system. Johnny Ace worked a show at the New Davis arena while Jim was there. OVW also used non wwe talent like Flash Flanagan, Trailer Park Trash, The Rock & Roll express did a few shows Buddy Landell and Bobby Eaton also worked shows. Eventually wwe bought the video library which Danny Davis and Corny both made out pretty well on
There’s a story Jim told of Kenny no showing an event on him and blaming an injury. Then Jim finds he went to wrestle in Japan instead. Pretty sure that’s where this all started.
That soured him on Omega, but the match Omega had with the little girl, the match with the blowup doll and Omega sticking his fingers up someone's ass during a match is what snowballed it into unfiltered hatred.
@@JoyLivesOn Omega had a competitive match with a blowup doll in front of fans, a competitive match with a 9 year old girl in front of fans, and he and Kota Ibushi had a match wearing thong speedos where he put his hands in a praying position and stuck 8 fingers right up Ibushi's ass. It's all on TH-cam for the world to see. Everyone's favorite "bout machine" is an embarrassing goof.
kenny went to Japan to receive an award not wrestle. Jim thought he went to wrestle in Japan and lied to ROH for no show. And the legendary hated begins...
The Santino Marella thing is actually worse than you described. Santino didn't "no sell a move." He was sitting in the audience with his daughter. And when the Boogeyman walked past them, his daughter was scared. Santino was smiling because he was with his daughter having fun at a wrestling show. And Jim slapped him afterward.
@@paranoidewok6772 Well maybe not for you. For Jim, any sort of disrespect to the industry and the keyfabe is worth a slap. We already know you're not in the professional business, so what's the point of disagreeing with someone who is and is passionate about it.
I think when it comes to Cornette it helps to consider what he has to say whether you agree with it or not. Agreeing with everything or disagreeing with everything make no sense because you aren't trying to look at whatever it is from all angles at that point. Wrestling has always had predetermined outcomes so it is not a sport by the traditional definition, but there is the competitive aspect that is very similar to what you see in sports. There is also an artform to it otherwise there wouldn't be gimmicks and storylines. It is possible to take the traditional elements and the modern elements and mix them together. I do agree with Jim that Marko Stunt should not be in a wrestling ring and it isn't because of his size but because he is awful, he'd be better off as a hype man. I also agree that Russo is a disgrace to the wrestling business. I don't agree with his hatred of Omega and only partially agree with his hatred for the Bucks, some of the stuff the Bucks do is really fucking stupid.
Great attitude. It’s fine to disagree with some or many of his points or not like the man but he knows his wrestling and there’s no way you can disagree with everything he says.
Yeah, but he doesn't do the same, he will disagree with whatever he doesn't like 98% of the time and yet you are asking for us to be open minded? The Bucks actually legit tho. I used to not 'get it' when I first saw them and thought the same as you did, until I saw some film of them back in the day and watched their PPV matches.. they are talented af. Now the Superkicks.. that's actually an inside joke, its a reference to the limited move set of other people. They even overtly overdo the slap on the leg on purpose. But Orange Cassidy is also another Gen Z/Millenial inside joke that if you are comming from the E , you woudln't get . Cassidy too can also go toe to with any guy on that ring and put on a clinic. I watched film on him and he is legit a faster version of Daniel Bryan , he's super technical and super smooth. I watched OC live and some of the stuff he was doing was shi* you see elite level 15 year old veterans like Daniel Bryan do. So the dude can wrestle but he's having fun right now. I would say Bucks and Orange Cassidy are like Andy Murray/ Djovick type good but are playing like Gael Monfils for the lulz.
i disagree. there comes a point where so much garbage comes out of someones mouth they lose the priviledge of you listening to them for even a nugget of logic. Jim Cornette is a trashbag and does not understand wrestling.
@@tarekt8427 Yep pretty much. The most shocking thing for me was when I started to learn that quite a few of the assertions he's made about Vince Russo over the years aren't even true. Cornette also tends to blame everybody and everything for his own failures, which gets really damn old.
@@tarekt8427 he def understand wrestling, he has an outdated view on wrestling but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t understand it. With that stated in my opinion outside his views on women’s wrestling he’s actually very spot on his criticism with modern day wrestling
He kinda did...he I guess there is a story about him lying to jim about an injury to no show an event only to wrestler elsewhere....idk how true this is@@tiredox3788
If Cornette did that to me, I would have bashed Cornette to a pulp so badly he would be on life support. Then I would pull the plug. Cornette is a POS.
I was unaware of the issue with Jordynne Grace. She's always impressed me. Been listening to him long enough to know the rest. Sad, one indy show turned him off from PK. I've seen her work her ass off in the ring. Kenny Olivier is only one of his names btw. "Twinkle Toes McFingerbang" is my personal favorite.
Ironically, that's around the time I started to dislike them. The never ending dropkick spots and the four way "omnidirectional" super kicks were some of the craziest things I had seen, and I grew up in an era with the Gobbledy Gooker and the Shockmaster, and I was supposed to believe that a running leg drop or a splash from 3 ft in the air was devastating.
It makes me so mad when people say he has such a great mind for wrestling... Have you ever watched Smoky mountain wrestling lol? It was so f****** bad, and so was ovw for the short time Danny Davis wasn't helping with creative. Everywhere he's ever been he's been fired from, either for being out of touch, completely useless, or the very worst a f'n racist. Just cuz he's been to a lot of company don't make him a wrestling genius; actually it says quite the opposite. You can't take away the historian Factor because he does have a good memory for all of his past deeds in the 70s and 80s and he's great at telling those stories. At the end of the day he should stick to just that
Jim Cornette is wrestling's resident "old man yelling at cloud". If Jim hates something, that's actually an endorsement, because it probably means it's entertaining.
To add some context to this. He didn’t hate Owens and Zayn. He hated working with them. He acknowledged their talent and thought they were good workers. He wanted Owens to get into better shape (not unreasonable). He wanted Generico to talk. Look at these guys now. Owens has dropped some pounds. Zayn is one of the best promos in the business. Maybe Cornette was right.
On the flip side - Active wrestlers Jim Cornette likes 1) Randy Orton 2) Gunther 3) Bryan Danielson 4) Bobby Lashley 5) Rhea Ripley 6) Edge 7) MJF 8) Cody Rhodes 9) CM Punk 10) Drew McIntyre
Jim absolutely loved the Walter/Dragunov matches, and has praised the hell out of Darby Allin the past several months. If it’s a one or the other decision, Jim will definitely lean towards simple and believable vs complex but appearing choreographed, but contrary to common belief, he doesn’t automatically hate all things about modern wrestling.
Nobody ever liked that shit except the rednecks in the south watching it. If it was popular, Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Federation wouldn't have succeeded like it did. But they have, because McMahon understood mass appeal, and understood that wrestling as a national prime time event wasn't just a handful of drunk bloated rednecks in a bingo hall or some arena in Georgia.
Marko Stunt. My cousin’s eldest son saw him a few years ago as an 11 year old, laughed when he found out he outweighed Stunt by 10 lbs, and cut a heel promo about all of the schoolyard bully things he’d do to Stunt in the ring. If kids are laughing about shoving you in lockers, I don’t think you’re intimidating enough to be taken seriously as a combat athlete, simulated combat or not.
It really surprises me that people get this wrong so often. He doesn’t call Kenny Olivia he calls him Kenny Olivier, as in Sir Laurence Olivier. As in an effete, uptight artist type.
Hating on FTR for doing business with a wrestler he doesn't like. How DARE they agree to be in the same ring with a relatively small person! For shame FTR! Please. That's petty and stupid and a sign of what is/was/and will continue to be wrong with backstage politics. FTR did a match and put on a show and did their best to get a guy over and tell a story in the ring. It's what good workers do.
I don't think he hates FTR. This video is a bit off in that respect. I don't think he hates Steen/KO either. Doesn't mean he thinks everything they have done or will do is great and he's an easy man to frustrate however in general I feel like he has positive feelings towards them as wrestlers from listening to, not all of but a decent amount of his podcasts.
I always found it odd how Jim wants all wrestling to be a certain serious style, meanwhile to me he's known as the guy in goofy suits managing hitting people with a tennis racket. Cornette is the kinda guy to get upset at a restaurant because they're not McDonald's and Jim won't get his big mac. You try to bring your own vision of food and cooking nope you're murdering cooking and you should be mcdonalds.
That and the fact every company he had responsibilities on either fired him or went bust yet he claims to know exactly how everything in Wrestling should be booked and promoted.
OMG thank you! You're comment should legit be top #1, you put wrote that down so perfectly. He is legit a male version of a Karen(watch that Santino video). And as you said hes a salty old boomer who asks for a BigMac while he's at an In-Out and then yells at the order taker and demands that employee make a Big Mac on the spot or else he will scream at his customers to not go there and say ' they got rats'. He fools a lot of newbies into thinking hes this wrestling guru but he's a phu**n Charlatan. His cult is just made up of Southerners that are salty that WCW and Deep South are gone. He is pretty much whats wrong w/ wrestling, but they are a minority group. Wrestling is growing, but he just wants it to be Deep South type stuff , but theres a reason why they went out of business. . .and a reason why he was fired from ROH and Impact and WWF and PWG.
Nah. He was known for more than that. One of the best promos in the business. One of the best managers in history. Pre-2005, he was considered one of the brightest minds in the business, just ask Meltzer. He only lost one promotion, Smoky Mountain Wrestling. And you can’t find one wrestler who worked for him then, who says a bad word about him. They all got paid. Cornette’s main problem has been his inflexibility. If he apologizes, he still has the NWA announcing gig. If he doesn’t go on a rampage against Russo, he probably wouldn’t have been fired from TNA. And of course if he keeps controls of his temper, he doesn’t leave OVW. He is in the perfect spot now. He is making a mint off his his two podcasts and his other business. So he doesn’t have to worry about being fired.
@@Batony He miserably failed at ROH. They were stacked with young talent and he decided to revolve the show around Shelton Benjamin. It's like having good Wr's, RB's , Defense and he still led them to 2-14.
Part 2: Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, Orange Cassidy, Ultimate Warrior, Riho, Satnam Singh, Shawn Michaels, The Bank Addicted Drug Robber, Konosuke Takeshita, Jake Roberts.
Jim doesn't hate Kevin Owens or FTR. He just thought KO was a pain in the ass, and he was just annoyed with FTR. Everything else was relatively correct, and utterly justified. Janella in particular. I remember Joey and Sunny Kiss vs TH2 where I saw it for myself. Janella not only knows how to wrestle, he's a physical danger to everyone he works with.
Yeah at first he hated joey ryan for being a talented wrestler who did stupid stuff, then "how could not anyone see this as sexual harassment lawsuit" spot was used, never understood why people got behind it or even gave it legitimacy. This was why I was skeptical of aew at first because they gave 20 minutes to joey ryan like he was some big deal. metoo ended that
He doesn't hate Shawn. Shawn just isn't one of his favorite people. He's said many times that Shawn is one of the best workers of all time. He just think Shawn is a prick.
Jim doesnt not hate Shawn personally, he just hate Shawn's absurd backstage influence at the time with potential talents never got a big break just because Shawn Michaels hated their chemistry when they were in a match
I know Cornette catches heat for some of his comments, but they are his opinion. When guys like Jim Ross or Arn Anderson are asked about Jim Cornette they give the "well he is opinionated, he is old school, but I agree with some of the things he says to a certain point" That seem to be their way of saying "he is right but we are cashing checks, so we can't agree outright"
I onced asked callihan during a live show with the fans if hes ever been in a real fight multiple times he refused to answer wrestlings history is filled with wrestlers you dont even have to ask that q about yet callihan is supposed to be this death match type wrestler hes made a career out of portraying Hes never been believable is a HUGE issue with him
“WWE saw greatness in Santino and put a lot of stock in him.” Except Santino had nothing to do with them at the time. He wasn’t on a WWE developmental contract, which some OVW guys were on. He just paid to attend the training school. WWE didn’t even know who he was. He called them after the incident and they gave him a job to prevent him from suing them.
Mate that’s two videos of yours I’ve watched where you got the origin of the Marella beef wrong - it was that he laughed at the Boogie Man while he was in the crowd - it wasn’t a move or a fight or anything like that. It makes it seem like you haven’t actually seen or researched the incident
"Vince Russo is not a wrestler!" Uhhh...he was a WORLD CHAMPION at one time 😆 that's part of the reason Cornette hates him so much! A guy who's never been in a serious fight in his life decides to put the belt on HIMSELF when a whole locker room full of wrestlers could have snapped his neck like a breadstick!
I agree with him on how Vince Mcmahon is no longer coherent and Vince Russo is terrible for the business overall, and how Kevin Dunn is just a pathetic excuse for a human being in general, but so do a lot of people. And that's it. Okay, I'll agree with Joey Ryan's persona being terrible too. Corny wants wrestling to be ultraserious but going back to that is impossible now, and really, why would we? That means going back to the days when people were stabbed in the showers and everyone was doing drugs. So what if wrestlers today are geeks now? Almost everyone is a geek now. I'm actually glad for that, and the fact that wrestling is cleaning up it's act.
I think he simply wants wrestlers to do their job seriously, and not by making fun of the business, and by extent, themselves. I mean people have sweated blood and tears for decades to make this relevant, so I don't think that the audience being smarter nowadays is a valid reason to not giving a shit about the smoke screen anymore.
@@dbwillrise8 Yeah, everybody should be wearing goofy colourful suits and hit each other with tennis rackets. That would make much more sense than what we have now.
@@dbwillrise8 He's literally gone on rants about how wrestling shouldn't be "fun". He wants to take the "fun" and "entertainment" out of wrestling, which is literally wanting it to be an ultra serious product that nobody would watch (see also: every indie promotion that has tried to do this).
his opinion of Omega has softened a little bit, and I mean a little. Also, he seems conflicted about Owens, on one hand he realizes his undeniable talent, on the other he was apparently painful to work with.
Jim hates guys ya but its goofs particularly-omega,cassidy,young bucks, marko stunt He praises guy like roman, punk, seth, balor, rodrick strong , keith lee, kross , kor, franky monet, ripley,Ftr etc His issue with owens and sami is so complicated,he criticised owens for his shape and attire but loves his work and mic work ,he wanted sami to have his mask off , he likes them but has problem with them too He doesn’t like when wrestling is taken like a joke as he is old schoool guy ,if u show the Bussiness legitimately he wud be like promoting on his show
Thats the hilarious part of it, Cornette did more goofy stuff back in his day than any of the Wrestlers he claims are goofs... th-cam.com/video/G22qfagAc_o/w-d-xo.html
He was good in the 80s when his ideas were good and I laughed my ass off when he told Brock he would not fight him he would shoot him but it’s different today. I want to see wrestling with a kick to it.
To be fair Santino was a case that is very different. One he wasn't a WWE contacted guy he was in the training class for OVW and was signed with OVW. Cornette was co owner of OVW and it wasn't that Santino no sold a move by the boogie man he didn't run when he was supposed to as a plant with the rest of the wrestling students there, on an OVW television taping, and laughed in the boogie mans face. By all accounts of other wrestlers watching, Damien Sandow and Dolph Ziggler included when Jim slapped him he was saving Santinos life because the Boogie Man, who was a signed WWE wrestler down there training, was ready to remove Santinos bones from his body without breaking the skin.
Correction, while yes Santino was currently signed to OVW. He had only been there for a month, and was only just promoted to the intermediate class. He mentioned during that interview that a perk of being part of the intermediate class at OVW was that he was allowed to go to the shows with the rest of the class. The issue that happened with Santino not reacting a certain way towards Boogieman was that no one had communicated with him that he had to act a certain way, and that's all it was, simple miscommunication. The slap was very uncalled for,, and I'm glad he got fired for it.
Not entirely, he liked the Great Muta and Yokozuna. But yeah other than those two he has little use for Japanese wrestlers, especially female wrestlers.
Steen didn't seem to belong, that just seemed more like a little head butting and I've heard Cornette say a lot of good things about him. Orange Cassidy should have been on the list instead.
Agree. Corny’s opinion about Steen/Owens is that he’s a hell of a talent, but occasionally has his head in his own ass. When he doesn’t, Jim likes him.
I never could personally tolerate or stand Satino Marella (what a God awful pro-wrestler), also he wasn't entertaining to watch (if anything everything he did was really stupid), & I honestly don't know what the WWE ever saw in this jack-off? Yeah if I ripped off Mr. Socko by changing it to the Cobra & pretending to be an Italian stereotypical wrestler then I would probably become WWE Intercontinental Champion (what a joke because he sucked).
I don't think he always does. I'm watching this video one year in the future and I was relative surprised to see KO/Steen on there. I'm aware he's not always been his n.1 fan BUT he also has given me the impression that he has a net positive opinion of him as a wrestler and certainly hasn't given me the impression that he hates him. As for FTR he's generally full of praise for them.
HEY @Top10Wrestling correction to your Santino & Boogyman part it wasnt a move he no sold. Boogyman Had come out of the tunnel and the talent stationed in the camera view were supposed to be scared and visually sell being horrified but Santino can be seen smiling or laughing and thats what pissed off Jim Cornette. Just a small bit you got wrong there. EVERYTHING else in the video is spot on. keep up the good work.
As important as Cornette is to wrestling as a whole I believe he has an extremely narrow mindset on wrestling, he really doesn’t understand the internet age in the slightest, and he’s transphobic comments are just gross and prove how out of touch he is with the current generations.
He's really not that important to wrestling. He was the manager of a mid card tag team and then failed at pretty much everything else. His podcast is the most successful thing he has done in decades, and I wouldn't say doing a wrestling podcast means you are in wrestling. He just uses it to inflate his legacy.
@@VelvetMetrolink I wrote that comment over a year ago and on reflection you’re probably right about that, maybe I should’ve said influential instead of important.
Jim might be coming around a little on Kenny Omega. He has sounded like a decent guy in recent interviews and did not agree with a lot of the goings on in AEW. I think Corny is starting to warm to him a bit. Same thing myself, I used to lump him in w the Bucks, guess I was wrong
Hey Tom your a legend love your channel and your vids. If I may suggest a video "10 wrestlers Hulk Hogan Burried" Yokozuna, Randy Savage, King Kong Bundy to name a few.
Why should we listen to a guy who: 1. calls the fans of taday idiots, 2. insults or outright accuse wrestlers of horrible crimes, and 3. has a fanbase that has the word 'Cult' in it (and acts like it as well).
While I can't stand Jim Cornette, I honestly am not particuparly a fan of most of the wrestlers the guy doesnt like. He just screams all this negativity out into the ether and I think it will do nothing but hurt wrestling as a whole. I never liked Santino, Janela, Joey Ryan, Callihan, etc. But I can respect the opinions of others that do like their contributions to wrestling. There's one wrestler in this list that I absolutely disagree with Cornette on though, Kenny Omega! Despite his ridiculous antics, its hard to ignore how versatile and amazing that guy is. I also really love him Cleaner gimmick because im a fan of Cobra, Sephiroth, and Wesker as well.
@@aaronsejas6442 Yeah, I have. He still never said "I hate Cody Rhodes!" He hated the show because it's embarrassing bullshit, but he doesn't hate Cody. He just thinks Cody is pretentious, which he very much is.
@@aaronsejas6442 Probably because Cody hasn't done anything to be praised for in well over a year. That still doesn't mean that he hates Cody Rhodes. If Cornette hates someone he will blatantly say "I hate that motherfucker" and he's never said that about Cody.
Re the Santino Marella incident, Marella didn't no-sell a move from Boogeyman... he was in the OVW crowd and he no-sold a kayfabe reaction to the Boogeyman by laughing at him. Also, if this is a Top 10, shouldn't you be counting down from 10 instead of up from 1?
If Jim had his way his preferred match is a 45 minute grapple and lock up to a time limit draw. Omega is a phenomenal pro wrestler full stop. The type that actually could wrestle a broom to at least 2.5 stars.
Omega is a spot fest, unrealstic wrestler that has 0 in ring psychology. Jim believes in a more Bret Hart style of realistic wrestling, that doesn't mean a 45 minute grappling session
I met Jim Cornette at an ROH show back in the day and he was a nice guy to me, so I can't say anything bad about him personally, but he really did screw over Kevin Steen and The Young Bucks pretty badly if you listen to their shoot interviews. With the Bucks, they were in TNA when Cornette told them to ask for their release so that they could come work for ROH instead. They left TNA, and when they tried to get booked with ROH, Cornette basically told them, "Sorry guys, we can't bring you in after all." The Bucks were left without a contract or a consistent place of employment, and their financial situation was so dire that Matt said his card was declined while trying to buy McDonald's due to insufficient funds. The Kevin Steen situation was similar. Steen had a wife and kid to support, but Cornette took away his bookings and his main source of income. It made no sense as Steen was one of the most over guys in the company and just came off the feud of the year against Generico, so why would you then punish him by taking him off of shows?
Except for Thick Momma Pump and maybe Steen, I actually agree with Cornette 😂 but you left Austin Aries and Greg The Office Boy off the list, but I'm not sure GTOB counts
Jim Cornette as much as I respect him for all his work in the wrestling business, really annoys me. His insistence that wrestling should always be treated super seriously, always be treated like it's real at all times no matter what despite kayfabe being dead for decades now, and every wrestling fan beyond the age of 7 knowing this. His complete hatred of practically all comedy wrestling, and any other wrestling that isn't like his kind of wrestling. And his insistence that anyone who doesn't share his exact views on wrestling weather they're a fan, wrestler, or anyone else in the business, is stupid and killing said business. Are all things that really annoy me about him, and people like him. Don't get me wrong, I personally think wrestling is at it's best when it's taken seriously, and treated like it's real, but that doesn't mean that I hate wrestling that doesn't fit into those categories, or that I think people are lesser for watching wrestling that doesn't fit into those categories. I believe wrestling of all kinds, no matter what it is, is valid and important, for getting as many people into it as possible, because people have many different tastes and we need wrestling that caters to all of those tastes if we want it to get as popular, beloved, and respected as it can be. I would argue people like Jim, are doing more to hurt the business right now then any amount of goofy comedy wrestling ever could. Because they're actively pushing for less variety in the art form, and actively alienating and driving away potential fans just because they like a type of wrestling they don't.
You must understand he makes a living out of his podcasting and the way he "hates" on so many people is how he gets his viewership. His whole channel is full of Elite hateporn to the point it becomes a gimmick. He is actually funny and some of his viewership is from people like me that just want to see him rant, unfortunately he also has some number of cult followers who take everything he says as creed and don't even stop to think with their own heads,
@@Raddon I understand how he makes his money, I understand there's a possibility he's not serious with anything he says about wrestling and he's just playing it up for the camera, or at least he's not as serious as he comes off, and he's partially playing it up for the camera. I understand why people watch him, hell I used to be one of those people until in one clip I saw, he went a little too far with his take on Kurt Cobain's suicide, at least in my eyes and I didn't want to watch him anymore, and then I just got tired of hearing most of his other takes about wrestling. I will admit he is, or at least was a pretty entertaining dude, and I don't blame you for watching him just to see him get angry at some stupid wrestling related thing. I just hate everything he stands for in terms of wrestling, played up or not, I hate what he's currently doing for the business and I hate that he plays such a big factor in dividing wrestling fans, because a good portion of his fans are brain dead sheep who can't think for themselves.
@@mikeangel4516 I agree with you on dividing Wrestling. Its sad some fans take his words as creed and would rather believe all his shoots instead of thinking with their own heads but for me its fans fault and not his...
@@Raddon I would still say it's partially Jim's fault, for pushing the narratives that cause some of his fans to act the way they do in the first place. I mean most of them are just acting like he would anyway, but I definitely do blame the fans more than him.
Wrestling should be treated seriously at all times though. We all know it's scripted, but that doesn't mean we should accept goofiness and obvious collaboration in the ring. Just watch the wrestling he talks about like in the NWA, it may not look as flashy as today's wrestling, but it was more believable and it was more over. Other things like people calling wrestling personalities "characters", and wrestlers coreographing instead of working a match are all things I agree with him that are killing the business or have been doing so since the 90s.of course people are gonna say wrestling has passed him by because they have only seen the wwe shit from the last 20 years, and that's nowhere near what real pro wrestling is, Jim has been a fan of wrestling since the late 70s and has seen wrestling go from territories to national tv, if anyone knows the true essence of wrestling and how it should be and how it should make the viewer both at home and at the arena feel is Cornette
But-her-face is being generous. Unless you're into 3 ft tall bodybuilders, which brings up other issues but if a moustache and hairy back is what you want in a girl, here you go.
Young Bucks, Luchasaurus have to stop having the same match. I like the YB but sh.it. also, I never got the hype of LS. For real, the same move set every match. Impressive stuff sometimes like the shooting star press and I do like his chokeslam onto another dude. But his inring IQ seems almost impossibly low. Better than JrDosSantos in ring IQ but that's ugh not saying much
Jim needs to give it a rest. Back in his day there was great care taken to protect kayfabe, now most people don't buy into the reality of the match. They are more concerned with just being entertained. I myself appreciate the performance and execution of moves during the match. Wrestling has evolved from Jim's prime but he is still stuck in that era.
I wouldn't really consider it an evolution considering the pure amount of times the execution of said moves results in someone being put on the shelf for 6 to 9 months
And because it "evolved" so much, less people are watching Wrestling today then ever before. The same stuff I tell my guys. Stick to "shoot off, drop down, leap frog, hip toss, drop kick" and get the emotion over. Not the damn moves. Its not about how many moves you do or what moves you can do. Its about when to do em. And why.
Jim cornette is actually similar to Vince McMahon, a sour old man that doesn't understand modern things. Wrestling industry is like movie, tv and comic book industry it needs to be evolved so it can attract more present day customers.
Agreed. While I will admit that Jim knew what he was talking about during the 80s, and early 90s now a days he doesn't as he seems to not understand that a modern wrestling promotion can't survive if it's being run like a wrestling promotion from the 80s and early 90s.
@@derrickhaggard nowadays he doesn't know of what he is talking about anymore, he thinks he was a promoter so he's always right. Just like Vince mcmahon, he thinks that he is still in his prime tactics to make big money but in reality he is killing his father and his own legacy by refusing listening to others and stepping down.
Bro what?? How has wrestling evolved so much that Jim doesn't understand?? Tell me one thing, other than the sexuality and profanity, that happened in 90s wrestling that would not happen now?
This is absolute horseshit. I don’t agree with everything Jim says but he still knows the wrestling industry. There’s just plenty he doesn’t like that modern fans do.
I think Kenny wrestling a blow up doll is the only reason Jim hates him. Kenny is a great worker but does some goofy shit from time to time. The Young Bucks are just a caricature of tag team wrestling, I can't take them seriously.
I bet Jim is just secretly jealous that Omega just out-worked every wrestler in the 80's and 90's. Yes we have lots of legends in those years but Omega imo just surpassed them in terms of storytelling ability and work rate. I think Joey Ryan definitely made sense.
Let’s take fame, marketability, popularity, etc etc out of the equation. Just in terms of pure in-ring ability, no. Just off the top of my head, Ricky Steamboat can tell just as good a story and could get good-to-great matches out of anyone and make them entirely believable. Is Omega a slightly better pure athlete and does he do more exciting moves? Yeah, I’ll give him that. But that doesn’t lend itself to believability sometimes.

Johnny Ace worked a show at the New Davis arena while Jim was there. OVW also used non wwe talent like Flash Flanagan, Trailer Park Trash, The Rock & Roll express did a few shows Buddy Landell and Bobby Eaton also worked shows. There’s a story Jim told of Kenny no showing an event on him and blaming an injury. Then Jim finds he went to wrestle in Japan instead. Pretty sure that’s where this all started.

I'm a huge Cornette fan, but I wish he wouldn't hold grudges against people forever. It's not good for you.
I don't think he always does. I'm watching this video one year in the future and I was relative surprised to see KO/Steen on there.
$5,000. No guns, no knifes. Book it!
Like Usual...This Channel Gets a Lot of "Facts" Wrong...I'd Suggest this Channel Start Focusing on the Research A LOT more....smh
Dude please tell me you're doing a Cornette vs Russo documentary! I need that lol
You forgot Cody Rhodes
He doesn't hate Cody, lol. Where did you get that from?
@@ojmcclanahan689 sounds like you haven’t watch Jim’s review on Rhodes to the Top
@@aaronsejas6442 Yeah, I have. He still never said "I hate Cody Rhodes!" He hated the show because it's embarrassing bullshit, but he doesn't hate Cody. He just thinks Cody is pretentious, which he very much is.
@@ojmcclanahan689 what about the other Drive Thrus and Jim Cornette experience episodes trashing on Cody more than Kenny Olivier currently
@@aaronsejas6442 Probably because Cody hasn't done anything to be praised for in well over a year. That still doesn't mean that he hates Cody Rhodes. If Cornette hates someone he will blatantly say "I hate that motherfucker" and he's never said that about Cody.
7:50 LOL Cornette bitched out to Santina. He was frantically looking around for someone to intervene or call the police.
She's got an amazing physique?
You make it sound like Earthquake & Typhoon were if the same category as Warrior and Rude.
The young bucks in Wrestling is the equivalent of Gizmo Williams being a Starting running back in the NFL
Just a bit of friendly advice…you might wanna scrap that Austin Aries intro.
Oh hell, let’s not start into office/administrative staff that Corny hates…lol.
GTOB, Jim Herd, Kevin Dunn, Ed Ferrara, Shitstain, Johnny Ace….
@@zlinedavid Dixie Carter, David Lagana, Eric Bischoff, I'm starting to wonder if Cornette might be the problem lol
I appreciate Jim Cornette for being wrestling's resident old man yelling at cloud.
I have respect for Jim and what he did in the 80’s/90’s but honestly he’s stuck in the 80’s/90’s when he was relevant
Wrong
Not really because he’s said that Tyler black and Darby richards was the modern day or the closest you could get to Ricky steamboat vs ric flair
@@marcusskull445 Marcus you’re a total mark .
Yep marko stunt runs basically everything unless he’s literally used as a weapon and when I say that I literally mean dino guy throws him at people
Corrnette is a well spoken old-school carny. Thats it.
🤣😂🙄 ow jesus you have no clue what you are talking about & its great to read thinking you do
Let’s take fame, marketability, popularity, etc etc out of the equation.
