- One of my all time favorite Beatles songs. I settled on using the strings for the backing harmonies since the choir effect on my piano only produced “aahhs” instead of “ooos” and it just didn’t sound right in comparison to the original recording. Paul has stated he actually wrote this song in practically one morning in June 1966 white sitting outside by the pool waiting for John to wake up at his home in Weybridge, which is amazing to me. Yeah, the Revolver album really is something to behold isn't it?
It marked a transcendence in music, even considering how far the band had advanced up to this point.
I like that it came at that blissful period where the touring stress was no longer a thing and the Beatles had the freedom to run wild with their composition.
Songs like these just take the cake for me and scream Beatles. A definite classic, but something that might slip under the radar from time to time.
I really love the sense of union in this song as well. Harmoniously gorgeous and it possesses that level of charm that didn't border on being as cloy some of McCartney's later works that John didn't care for.
If I remember correctly, this was a bit of the ping pong effect going on in light of the Beatles releasing Rubber Soul. Rubber Soul partly inspired Pet Sounds and God Only Knows inspired McCartney to have his own hit that emulated the same amazing composition.

My parents grew up in the sixties, and are about to celebrate their 49'th anniversary. Both big Beatles fans, this one is my mom's favorite and I would die to be able to play it for her! Please let me know where you found that score. And if you did it yourself, I'd be more than happy to pay for a copy!
The sheet music that I used as a guide is in a book called The Beatles Complete Scores that you can find online. The rest of it I learn by ear and arrange it from there but that book is a good start for the notes at least!

I think this is an arrangement by "Mercuzio Pianist" (or at least it's very similar). You can find PDFs online
