B Adventures Vlogs first of all thanks for responding! I’ll attempt opening it during the weekend to see how it looks inside. Never done this before, but the laptop is still too good to just have idle around the house.
B Adventures Vlogs last thing I’ll bother you with. I considered the upgrade because I purchased a hp laptop with a HDD (big mistake) that died within a year and a half of light use. What’s a good current laptop value for under $500 that’s upgradable in the future? I already know to go SSD but none of the brands (Lenovo, Acer, ,Dell, HP) inspire any confidence in me. Thanks again for the response!
Ask away. I know the pain and frustration with computers, so happy to help where I can. In my honest you should max out that Sony VAIO, or HP laptop if it's possible. That way you can use them for a few more years and stay well within budget. If you want a new laptop I'd hold off until next year. New AMD Ryzen 7nm Mobile processors coming in 2020. Their APU's will make the market more competitive. Good value and graphics. You can also chat with me my FB Page facebook.com/BAdventuresAU
Great video. Planning to upgrade my vaio too. Does it work great even though ur using two different brand crucial for ur RAM and Samsung Ssd? I was thinking getting my SSD at crucial, any advice would really appreciated. 👍🏼
Yes I've heard of Crucial RAM and SSD working fine in many computers. I prefer Samsung because they have good quality control. Sony VAIO used Samsung SSD's on their premium products back in the day. The OEM computer manufacturers often outsource components. So it's common to mix and match. What matters is reliability. I'd recommend a Samsung SSD for you as the Magician Migration software makes the cloning process easy. Also fast and reliable SSD. Crucial can have issues with migration and longevity. So I'd advise you take the more reliable and easier route. I still use this 2010 Sony VAIO S. After the SSD and RAM upgrades it's better than new 😎👊
Cool, that's a good idea I really need to get my Toshiba upgraded actually I had forgot all about doing a upgrade on it until you made these two vids lol mines is old as well about 4 years now it's a good laptop just starting to show its age now ☺ it's a heck of alot cheaper to upgrade rather then to buy a new laptop, so has the upgrade made a good difference in performance? Thanks for the video.
Glad you found it helpful. I was the same, kept putting it off as it was working fine. But after the last PH trip it was running extremely slow and I was worried the hard drive might finally burn out. It is running like new again, but only time will tell. Thanks for watching =)
I am not P.C smart but I am good mech. hands on, so my question is what will be better to make my 3 year old lenovo G50 run better or faster? Iam leaving for the phils. in january should i get a hard drive or bigger ram? Its running "ok" but slower and it freezes and when i type the cursor jump behind letters or the word is not what I typed hahaha any ideas ?
I'm not a tech expert but happy to help. Not sure of your exact model number, The Lenovo G50 factory specs I saw: 2.16Ghz clock speed, 2GB of RAM, and 320GB hard drive. It is an entry level laptop. 3 years old is a good refresh point, what I should have done lol. So to answer your question, yes I would upgrade the RAM and SSD if possible. If this is going to be your primary computer, might as well upgrade it before your trip. RAM is often affordable I shopped around for good parts at a good price. Get a computer store or tech friend to help you check your exact specs and what parts you can use. Probably best to open up your computer to check what can be done first. Hope that helps and thanks for watching =)
No. You have to check with your manufacturer info. Some laptops have Onboard RAM soldered or combined into the motherboard. You can check the Crucial website link below for your computer model. www.crucial.com/ Laptop RAM Upgrade Sony VAIO Fit 15 th-cam.com/video/31vmxyrdfV0/w-d-xo.html
No I don't think so. The computer is so old it's not worth it. Technical specs below. www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/laptop-pc-vpc-series/vpcea3s1e/specifications For what it's worth you're better off upgrading to a newer computer. Get an Intel core i5 or i7. Or latest AMD Ryzen 5 or R7 processor. Even used or 2nd hand.
Sometimes the manufacturers lock down the BIOS from the factory. Why do you want to access it? 1. Turn on or restart your Sony VAIO computer, allowing it to show its initial splash screen or main logo. 2. Press the “F2” key on your keyboard to enter the BIOS. Press the key several times if necessary before the operating system loads. 3. Modify the required BIOS settings. The BIOS screen generally appears with a blue, red or gray background, carrying the acronym “BIOS” or “CMOS Setup Utility” toward the upper portion of the screen. 4. Press the “F10” key to save all settings, otherwise press your keyboard’s “Esc” key, then select to exit without saving any changes when prompted.
I was really tired by that point and kept working late. You might want to try the RAM and SSD upgrades. The old laptop starts up much faster and working like new again. Thanks for watching =)
oh I only get parts free given to me I never up graded it that the one im giving away to that lady rember its fast and battery is still good it has win 7 on it now to a lot better with 3 gig ram and 80gig drive its all she need its ok she said she cant but and I had it doing nothing was actually given to me by me brother from his work they were going to throw in the bin so im lucky got few like that now

Sony VAIO S Series SATA 3 Investigation. Sony released a BIOS update which restricted data transfers to SATA 2 speeds. But they are still SATA 3 capable. Simple solution: Install SSD, and Samsung Magician software. Turn on RAPID mode for faster read and write speeds. It's a RAM caching feature, so will need at least 8GB of RAM. 850 EVO SSD with RAPID on: Read 1944 MB/s; Write 2763 MB/s. Example demo below. Better to get a newer model. Check the processor (CPU) first before you buy. Look for Intel Core i7, or newer AMD 4000 or 5000 processors. Can also find good used models. Not sure what your requirements are. Hope that helps.
@@BAdventures Ok, thank you for explaining😊
Can I use Samsung 1tb for a sony vaio vpccw17fx? Thank you
Yes, from the tech info below you can upgrade to SSD. But the processor (CPU) is an old Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 (2.2GHz). Not worth the upgrade. You can find a used Intel Core i7 computer for better performance. Or a new model on sale. Not sure what you will do with it. Hope that helps.

I assume similar process can be used on a older SONY VAIO-AW190 laptop right?
Yes, the process is the same. Clone to the SSD (new hard drive), then physically install the SSD. That's a very old model. You would be better off buying a new computer. Maybe you want to keep it for sentimental or historical purposes.

@@BAdventures what if i do not want to copy data from old drive and just want to install ssd with fresh window and all the other thing , will it work and boot without any issue ?
Would it be possible to upgrade the serial ATA drive that came with my Sony vpcej28fx? It still works fairly well after 7 or 8 years (battery doesn’t hold a charge) but just a bit laggy. Is the DDR3 4 GB it came with also upgradable? Thank you.
Yes you can upgrade your old SATA hard drive to SSD, I recommend Samsung. High speed hard drive with no moving parts. Max out your RAM to 8GB. See if you can find a replacement battery, search online. My Sony VAIO is better than new, still using it.
I think this is your Core i5 Sony VAIO model www.newegg.com/p/N82E16834127566

B Adventures Vlogs first of all thanks for responding! I’ll attempt opening it during the weekend to see how it looks inside. Never done this before, but the laptop is still too good to just have idle around the house.
Totally understand, and agree. Why waste a perfectly good laptop. Core i5 processor is still good performance. Was a fun upgrade project for me.

After the SSD and RAM upgrades it's better than new 😎👊
Thank you for fast respond! Ill do it then, can’t wait. I also have vaio s 👍🏼 and I’m so happy I found you.. very informative..
Don't hesitate to ask for help. I know it can be daunting at first. That's why I made the video to help others 😉

THANKS FOR THE REPLY WHEN WILL YOU BE GOING BACK TO THE PHILIPPINES
Ann & Kellys Life Adventures Not sure, nothing booked in yet. But investigating next year ;)
Does every laptop support installing additional ram?
No. You have to check with your manufacturer info. Some laptops have Onboard RAM soldered or combined into the motherboard. You can check the Crucial website link below for your computer model.

Hey bro
I have sony vaio vpcea3s1e
Can l upgrade same one like u ???
No I don't think so. The computer is so old it's not worth it. Technical specs below.

For what it's worth you're better off upgrading to a newer computer. Get an Intel core i5 or i7. Or latest AMD Ryzen 5 or R7 processor. Even used or 2nd hand.
VERY HELPFUL. THANKS A LOT.
Glad it helped. Was a little daunting, but good learning experience. Upgrading to an SSD is well worth the performance gains.

i cant acces my bios, no matter what i do or try, ive tried everything is there somthing im missing?
@@BAdventures dont worry i got it, it said f12 but that dit nothing, i had to hold f2 and turn it on
cool you had very shaky hands hahah I have a old laptop to and its fast a core 2 duo thanks I use usb back up always twice

Oh gosh hope it works out. Might be worth going to a computer repairer or technician and getting some help.
hey i did it exactly the way you did it and it worked!! haha its a miracle thank you

Nice job...I bought the 256GB version a few years ago. It came with its own plastic enclosure case. So I have been using it as an external HHD. You can't go wrong upgrading to SSD, no spinning disks with read/write heads to wear out..... Well done.
Glad you liked it. Great idea using an SSD as an external drive. Much faster and light weight. Basically a big memory card. Thanks for sharing ;)

Hope your doing well when your next trip?
I know it can get confusing looking for videos. Best to use a computer and use the search function on the channel page. It was one of the Cebu City videos when I talked about it. Glad you understand, sometimes people won't get it until they experience it for themselves. I'm ok thanks, not sure maybe next year. Will do an update video =)
Hello Sir,
Very Helpful Video. Great Job.
I have this one
www.sony.co.in/electronics/support/laptop-pc-vpc-series/vpceh35en/specifications and i want to upgrade it to an SSD and 8GB RAM. Is it even worth it?
Thank you.
Thanks for sending the specifications. Always check the CPU first. Your model is Intel Core i3-2350M Processor, 2.30 GHz. Not worth it.
I'd recommend getting a newer computer. You can find a used Intel Core i7 laptop or desktop very affordable now. Or pony up to the latest Intel and AMD Ryzen processors. Hope that helps.
@@BAdventures Thank You Sir and i respect your recommendations ❤️ but i want to upgrade its ram🙏 kindly suggest me the right ram.. i am very close to this laptop❤️
Check the model specifications link you sent.
Memory Type: DDR3, 1333 MT/s (Mhz) speed. Upgradeable up to 8GB total. That means 2 sticks of 4GB each. Like what I did in the video. Any brand will do.
Replacing your old hard drive to SSD is the best upgrade. Faster everything.

@@BAdventures Thanks Sir❤️ Also i want to know, the Ram which was provided in this laptop shows ddr3 2gb *Single Channel*.. so should i buy another 2gb ram of same frequency or a set of 2-2 gb each.. i am hell confused🙏 please guide me❤️
Yes correct. Open up your RAM bank and check it. If it already has 1 stick of RAM, you can add 1 more. But you can max it out to 8GB total. That means 2 new sticks of 4GB each, exactly what I did in the video.
Are you okay bro? Your hand is shakin
Hands of a surgeon, jokes. It was late at night and tired. I have shaky hands sometimes 😂✌️
It’s painful to watch as a doctor 🙏🏻 hehe, but your video is helpful , thank you!

Thank you.
Thank you. I checked your specs, no not worth it. It's an old AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350. The processor or CPU is the most important part. It's the computer brain. Better you get a newer computer. Either Intel Core i7, or AMD Ryzen 7.
Hope that helps 👍

Hey that's a good idea. But it's hard coordinating it all and sending things internationally. SSD's are much more affordable now and newer models available 😉✌️
Brandon I want to share something that is ABSOULTLY AMAZED ME,,,, I was in Sm Department store in Sm Mall in Angeles and it was noon, then on the PA (speaker) I was hearing the THE ART FATHER CREED, and the LORDS PRAYER. And 3 Blocks away is one of the biggest SEX AREAS (WALKING STREET) along with many homeles children that no one will adress, I DON"T GET IT
You saw the good side, and the business side. even the street kids are sent there on purpose. You got to find the Angeles videos and comment on the relevant ones lol.
