I grew up rough, in and outta prison both as a kid and as an adult. At 30 I finally got my life together. My son is 13 now and has been wrestling for 5 years and hitting it hard and it is now paying off. He wrestles and or trains 5 days a week, and has been able to travel the country to wrestle. His life is so much different than mine was. And one of the things I really like about the sport is 2 things: I respect the toughness of wrestlers, and secondly I love how respectful and cool almost all his friends are. And I think a lot of that comes from the older wrestlers that they have to look up to. Point of this comment is, thank you guys for continuing the tradition of being good people that young wrestlers can look up to.
Nice interview with a good kid with a great future. I do wish the interview would have given us more insight of the relationships the Iowa wrestlers have with Brand brothers and the rivalry with Penn St
Whether or not spencer puts up weight, he can do pull ups with more than his bodyweight, and he can also do pull up reps with one arm, which is bonkers.
48:54 I believe this is still a good idea… if you think about it the only people who might put them selves in harms way are really competitive people, when they go out on the mat and “test the boundaries” they most likely won’t feel good and won’t perform well… resulting in them losing. Which, is the last thing a competitive person would want to do.
