Why do people get SO angry when people talk about Raymond? He’s a little bundle of joy and I love him. Most people don’t just like him because he’s popular. They like him because he’s a sweetheart. I swear the same people who hate on Raymond are the same people who are obsessed with Marshal. Who’s also a popular villager. Anyway- just like people like who they like.
I love Raymond, and I love my fluffy marshmallow too! (Marshal) I actually made Marshal my royal advisor before he decided to move from Utopia.. And then he showed up on my other island! (still has his royal crown and shirt too!)

I actually like Raymond because of his personality. I originally invited him to my island because I needed more residents and I couldn’t find Fang (and I don’t have his Amiibo card because they’re expensive and you’re not even guaranteed to get the one you want), but I wasn’t expecting him to have hidden depths. He has moments where he actually shows vulnerability and self-consciousness, and I find that really cute. And yes, I realize that any villager with the same personality will have that same depth, but he’s the only smug villager on my island, so it’s not really an issue.
I was actually gonna sell him. That was my plan initially but when He first showed his vunreblity and insecurity...needless to say he is absolutely never leaving my island. I dont get people who hate something just because it's popular.
I like the smugs a lot. Smug villagers and lazy villagers are my favorite types. (For males at least) I’m glad I have Marshal and Julian’s amiibos because I love their personality. I always imagine all the smug villagers coming together and opening a coffee shop to buy espressos at. Lol.

For me it’s not the character that’s the problem, or how many people that like him. It’s how he (and Marshall) seems to be the only thing I’m getting in my feed when it comes to Animal Crossing. Like there’s a bunch of other cool characters besides them! And it would just be nice to see more of other villagers, that’s all.
ok but seriously i feel like all the people who are charging real life (or actually even in-game) money for visiting their island, designs, etc are kinda missing the point of the game. it’s not a way for you to make easy cash or gain popularity. it’s escapism and above else a really sweet and fun game where people can express themselves and share their creations and experiences with everyone around them. Edit for all the people who are saying that they bought the game so they should be aloud to do with it what they please: Of course you are aloud to play it as you please. I can’t restrict how you play the game and in the end, i don’t really care that much either. If you bought your dream villager, i’m glad you have them now, i just personally feel like it brakes the bubble of finding them on a mystery island so i myself wouldn’t do it (but in the end i’m just happy that you got your dream villager and i don’t really care how). This was more about the people who are basically going “oh you have bad turnip prices? mine are 500 per turnip. give me a million bells and you can come sell them on my island.”. People are simply offering their services. The customer gets what they want and you get some money to help during these hard times. It's not necessary, it's optional. I make Animal Crossing figures, and in order to make them Amiibo ready I need to buy Amiibo coins from other creators. I think the business around Animal Crossing is cool, I've been able to get my childhood villagers back thanks to it. There isn't a point to a game where YOU get to express yourself and have fun however you want.

Raymond or Marshal being your favourites is 100% fine and understandable, they're both adorable and new, and their designs are iconic. Same goes with having an unpopular villager as your favourite. 'Ugly' villagers like Barold, Hazel, etc, are all good villagers. No villager is bad.
Raymond has the same name as my grandfather who died 11 years ago and because of that i will protect him with my life, i have been blessed to have him on my island

This made me cry so much, and reminds me of what the theme is for my island: a sense of community and belonging. A place that can change over time. A home where everyone is welcome. It's still being changed, but I am far from finishing it. From the pretty, the bad, and the ugly, I want it to feel like you are home, and you belong. When it feels like those people won't come, I take that time to focus on myself and take some time to do things that make me happy for the sole reason that I want to. Everyone goes through rough patches, but they do have an end. I understand not wanting to put yourself out there, but just a little nudge out of your comfort zone can make a huge difference. This video is like me. I always feel so alone and anyone who reaches out to me, I get sappy and thankful for them. I used to get bullied so much in school and by religious kids- I never felt like I belonged anywhere up until 2019, when I came to LA for a BTS concert. Everyone I met was so nice and I met my bf that week too. I moved here to be with him and have been so much more happy. I still have dark times on occasion where my inner demons tell me stuff like he doesn’t love me or I don’t belong, but as soon as my bf and I cuddle- all of it melts away. I wish I could have Raymond so I could shower him with love and make sure he is happy.

Ah yes every fictional character will be one person's favorite and possibly be the popular character through out the series. But will slowly be hated. Just like Marina from splatoon 2 started to get hate after Pearl got alot attention in octo expansion pack.
When I saw him I didn’t know he wold be so popular. He reminded me of my cat that passed away. She looked very similar and had heterochromia. I still am very emotional about her and seeing him on my island made me feel like I had my baby back. When I saw him on the nmt island I broke down and had to put my switch down for a while. Watching him walk around and talk to all my other villagers is one of the things that truly warms my heart. I’ve been attacked over and over and insulted by people. I can’t give him up because he is too dear to me. That cat was one of the only things that helped me through my depression and when I had nobody I had her, when she passed away it felt like I had lost everything dear to me. I’ve had a very rough life but through everything, my little baby was there to purr and rub her head on me. Thank you Raymond for existing. When things get hard i will always be able to look forward to loading up my island and following you around, watching you run and sing. Even if it’s not real, it means the world to me. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you you aren’t good enough, you are beloved because you’re a treasure. At least, to me you are.
This is the same story with Butch. I had a dog named Jasper and he helped me through different mental illnesses I'd rather not say. He was my best friend for 7 years, and then got put down, for biting someone. ( He did it for protection, he was protecting me.. ) I was and forever will be broken from that memory, but when I got Butch, I felt like I could be free from those memories. Free of the pain, and grief. I was grieving over him for years and when I got ACNH, it all changed. Though I am still broken, like you, seeing Butch walk around talking to his Neighbors, being able to *talk* to him again, I felt *with* him. I can be with him in this virtual world, and that makes my heart feel...together again. I know both of our pets..no, family are in heaven. ( Unless you don't believe in that! That's okay! ) Your cat is forever and will be forever alive as long as you have hope. She is with you.

People who dislike Raymond shouldn’t be hated either. Animal Crossing has 400+ characters for that exact reason! Everyone can find a character that they love, and everyone doesn’t have to interact with characters they hate. I love Sylvia, for example, but I know most people don’t. I’ve even heard some people say that she looks like a Karen, but that doesn’t bother me because their opinions don’t define mine. Just because I like Sylvia, doesn’t mean other people have to as well. People don’t have to feel obligated to hate her either; they can love her just like me! Preferences and opinions vary from person to person, and no one should be hated because of their opinions. Opinions are proof of a person’s individuality and should be respected. I dont have him on my island or even a close connection with him, but i feel like every villager is their own little person, i mean, i know they’re just code in a game and they all say some of the same thing especially if they’re the same personality type, but if you dont have duplicates it all feels so real, damn, am i just lonely?
every villager is their own little being and i love them all equally, and if i ever get raymond then i promise i would give him the love and respect he deserves. he's adorable and sweet and so wholesome. i would never sell him never hurt him heck i can't hurt any of my villagers. the little guy needs a break. i wish there was a way to get him to my island easier then using hundreds of tickets. but i'll do whatever it takes to get him to a safe place.
This got recommended to me twice, the first time was a few months back, and I remember that I wasn't a huge fan of him, but I thought he was cute. After I watched this video I cried, and made it my goal to get him and shower him with love and gifts. Now when I'm watching it again I'm super happy, as I accomplished my goal. Even before I ever saw this video, I remember thinking how much people hate on him, and then thinking about the fact that he has a computer (the phones in ACNH don't have access to much, especially not to the internet), and he may be seeing everything, and I imagined how horrible he must feel.
I just got him a few days ago. He is so adorable, and I absolutely love him. not because he's popular, not because he costs a lot of money, but because he is a great villager and deserves all the love and affection in the world
I am honest: I hated him...He is my first campsite villager and I was like: “really? I don’t even like u”. I took him and everyday I liked him little bit more. Today I think he is a adorable office kitten who is actually really kind. I just hated him because he is so overrated but now I don’t se this anymore and love him now with my full heart :)
Lucky you! My first campsite villager was Ken and I really didn’t want him but then I learned that you have to take you first campsite villager so I had no choice but to take him. But then after a month or so I was finally able to get rid of Ken and now the smug villagers s have is Marshal! I got him from his amiibo card and he’s baby! I’m really hoping one day that Raymond will show up in my campsite because he’s just as cute as Marshal and he’s so sweet!

Okay, so, I'm going to say this: If you don't want to see Raymond (or any other character) just stop watching content that obviously relates to him. Avoid it. It's not hard at all. Stop hating on people who like him just because you don't. It doesn't effect you pyhsically, so there's no need to put others down because they simply like a character. The same goes for some Raymond fans. If you find someone who doesn't like Raymond, accept that it's their opinion. You don't need to defend against someone's opinion, because it's an opinion. Opinions can't be right or wrong, that's why they're opinions. If you love a character, then do it! If you hate on someone for having an opinion, you're going to be fighting a losing battle. Hating on people who don't like him will most likely result in them disliking the character even *more.* Hate and love whatever character you want, just please don't suffocate others with your opinion. If I may voice my opinion 90% of animal crossing content in raymond and it is very hard to escape it gets annoying overtime seeing the same content. For this one I was just curious cuz of the thumbnail but I mostly ignore the raymond content.

I just got raymond on my island. I’ve been looking for him for the sole reason that I only want to spoil him with cute gifts fit for his house and more. I want him to feel like he’s not just a toy to be messed around with for money. I’m not over obsessive at all, I just want for Raymond to be treated like any other villager on my island. 💕

I have one thing to say: Some of my villagers may not be “popular” but you know what? I love them. I know they aren’t marina or marshal or Raymond, but even if I did find one of them I love all the villagers I hold a connection to. I may have rocket, she may be considered an “ugly” villager but I honestly believe that she has a strong connection with me. She’s been in almost every village of mine all the way back from the GameCube edition. But you know what? I’ve always held a special connection to cat villagers the most. I love every single one of them, and to see a new cat villager brings me joy. I really just want to have one, and I’d take any! Raymond, Bob, Rosie, Kiki, any one of them I’m fine with! But please remember to not treat them as items, but treat them as friends! It’s animal crossing, a game where you love your villagers, take care of your village/island, and just have fun!

I just don't get why people are so hateful towards a pixelated cartoon cat just for being overrated. I myself agree that he's overrated, but does that stop me from loving him? No. We all shouldn't let a character's popularity ruin them for us in general. Of course, you can dislike Raymond for other reasons, like design and whatnot, but it just doesn't make sense to hate him just because he's really popular.
I agree, 100%. But I think that people are more annoyed with him being everywhere than him just him being popular. Like if it’s a character that you don’t really care for and you’re looking for Animal Crossing content but all you get is the same character all the time, it’s like the same feeing as when the same add keeping popping up all the time, y’know what I mean? I still don’t think that is an excuse to be rude to people who simply like him though.
It seems to be parted in a way where people who like very popular villagers like Marshall, Raymond and such hate on “ugly” villagers for simply being ugly (looking at the Barold haters here.) And people who don’t like popular villagers for being “overrated” hate on those (looking at the Raymond haters here.)

I actually like Raymond because of his personality. I originally invited him to my island because I needed more residents and I couldn’t find Fang (and I don’t have his Amiibo card because they’re expensive and you’re not even guaranteed to get the one you want), but I wasn’t expecting him to have hidden depths. He has moments where he actually shows vulnerability and self-consciousness, and I find that really cute. And yes, I realize that any villager with the same personality will have that same depth, but he’s the only smug villager on my island, so it’s not really an issue.
I was actually gonna sell him. That was my plan initially but when He first showed his vunreblity and insecurity...needless to say he is absolutely never leaving my island. I dont get people who hate something just because it's popular.
I like the smugs a lot. Smug villagers and lazy villagers are my favorite types. (For males at least) I’m glad I have Marshal and Julian’s amiibos because I love their personality. I always imagine all the smug villagers coming together and opening a coffee shop to buy espressos at. Lol.

For me it’s not the character that’s the problem, or how many people that like him. It’s how he (and Marshall) seems to be the only thing I’m getting in my feed when it comes to Animal Crossing. Like there’s a bunch of other cool characters besides them! And it would just be nice to see more of other villagers, that’s all.

People are simply offering their services. The customer gets what they want and you get some money to help during these hard times. It's not necessary, it's optional. I make Animal Crossing figures, and in order to make them Amiibo ready I need to buy Amiibo coins from other creators. I think the business around Animal Crossing is cool, I've been able to get my childhood villagers back thanks to it. There isn't a point to a game where YOU get to express yourself and have fun however you want.

This video is like me. I always feel so alone and anyone who reaches out to me, I get sappy and thankful for them. I used to get bullied so much in school and by religious kids- I never felt like I belonged anywhere up until 2019, when I came to LA for a BTS concert. Everyone I met was so nice and I met my bf that week too. I moved here to be with him and have been so much more happy. I still have dark times on occasion where my inner demons tell me stuff like he doesn’t love me or I don’t belong, but as soon as my bf and I cuddle- all of it melts away.

When I saw him I didn’t know he wold be so popular. He reminded me of my cat that passed away. She looked very similar and had heterochromia. I still am very emotional about her and seeing him on my island made me feel like I had my baby back. When I saw him on the nmt island I broke down and had to put my switch down for a while. Watching him walk around and talk to all my other villagers is one of the things that truly warms my heart. I’ve been attacked over and over and insulted by people. I can’t give him up because he is too dear to me. That cat was one of the only things that helped me through my depression and when I had nobody I had her, when she passed away it felt like I had lost everything dear to me. I’ve had a very rough life but through everything, my little baby was there to purr and rub her head on me. Thank you Raymond for existing. When things get hard i will always be able to look forward to loading up my island and following you around, watching you run and sing. Even if it’s not real, it means the world to me. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you you aren’t good enough, you are beloved because you’re a treasure. At least, to me you are.

This is the same story with Butch. I had a dog named Jasper and he helped me through different mental illnesses I'd rather not say. He was my best friend for 7 years, and then got put down, for biting someone. ( He did it for protection, he was protecting me.. ) I was and forever will be broken from that memory, but when I got Butch, I felt like I could be free from those memories. Free of the pain, and grief. I was grieving over him for years and when I got ACNH, it all changed. Though I am still broken, like you, seeing Butch walk around talking to his Neighbors, being able to *talk* to him again, I felt *with* him. I can be with him in this virtual world, and that makes my heart feel...together again. I know both of our pets..no, family are in heaven. ( Unless you don't believe in that! That's okay! ) Your cat is forever and will be forever alive as long as you have hope. She is with you.

every villager is their own little being and i love them all equally, and if i ever get raymond then i promise i would give him the love and respect he deserves. he's adorable and sweet and so wholesome. i would never sell him never hurt him heck i can't hurt any of my villagers. the little guy needs a break. i wish there was a way to get him to my island easier then using hundreds of tickets. but i'll do whatever it takes to get him to a safe place.
This got recommended to me twice, the first time was a few months back, and I remember that I wasn't a huge fan of him, but I thought he was cute. After I watched this video I cried, and made it my goal to get him and shower him with love and gifts. Now when I'm watching it again I'm super happy, as I accomplished my goal. Even before I ever saw this video, I remember thinking how much people hate on him, and then thinking about the fact that he has a computer (the phones in ACNH don't have access to much, especially not to the internet), and he may be seeing everything, and I imagined how horrible he must feel.

I am honest: I hated him...He is my first campsite villager and I was like: “really? I don’t even like u”. I took him and everyday I liked him little bit more. Lucky you! My first campsite villager was Ken and I really didn’t want him but then I learned that you have to take you first campsite villager so I had no choice but to take him. But then after a month or so I was finally able to get rid of Ken and now the smug villagers s have is Marshal! I got him from his amiibo card and he’s baby! I’m really hoping one day that Raymond will show up in my campsite because he’s just as cute as Marshal and he’s so sweet!

Okay, so, I'm going to say this: If you don't want to see Raymond (or any other character) just stop watching content that obviously relates to him. Avoid it. It's not hard at all. Stop hating on people who like him just because you don't. It doesn't effect you pyhsically, so there's no need to put others down because they simply like a character.
The same goes for some Raymond fans. If you find someone who doesn't like Raymond, accept that it's their opinion. You don't need to defend against someone's opinion, because it's an opinion. Some of my villagers may not be “popular” but you know what? I love them. I know they aren’t marina or marshal or Raymond, but even if I did find one of them I love all the villagers I hold a connection to. I may have rocket, she may be considered an “ugly” villager but I honestly believe that she has a strong connection with me. She’s been in almost every village of mine all the way back from the GameCube edition. But you know what? I’ve always held a special connection to cat villagers the most. I love every single one of them, and to see a new cat villager brings me joy. I really just want to have one, and I’d take any! Raymond, Bob, Rosie, Kiki, any one of them I’m fine with! But please remember to not treat them as items, but treat them as friends! It’s animal crossing, a game where you love your villagers, take care of your village/island, and just have fun!
