If it sounds like an “anime opening” it’s because 90% of anime openings are just songs recorded by current Japanese bands/artists. And as different as all the bands are there is still a very general recording style for Japanese music, rock and pop alike. Tone, layering, mixing, etc. So yeah, Band-Maid being a modern j-rock band is gonna have a lot of the same sonic aesthetics as most anime openings

Take a look at the Manners, Black hole video. Two songs but they are completely different and both are pretty epic! They also DO an anime video with 'Unleash!'.
