This was one of the most unique top 100 I've seen. There were many games I'd never heard of. This coming from someone who watches Dice Tower content regularly.
What a ride it's been! Thanks for watching, everyone!!
Was waiting for age of Atlantis wasn’t expecting it to be #1. Have you showed Tom this game yet?
@@frankndice haha no - I don't wanna teach it to him. But I love that game!!
@@TabletopToolbox why not? I think Tom will love it
@frankndice Tom likes "teaches" to be short and sweet, and I don't think this game fits that bill. I mean, I can teach it quick, but you'll have no idea how it REALLY works. That's why I like it so much - it's not the rules that make this game a challenge...
Was not expecting that #1. Wow. I've loved it, but would never have expected that to be a top selection on anyone's list. Jeff's my new BFF.
@@ChewieHuey 🥰
I really like this guy and I hope to see him around the channel more.
Also a HUGE +1 to Age of Atlantis. LOVE it!!
Thanks, Steve!!
Your number 1 was unexpected but in a good way.
Loved your list, Jeff. Thank you.
Live long, and prosper 😉
Love Vindication. I agree that just the base game is great. Sometimes we’ll play with the Odyssey board or the Leaders and Alliance boards (we just throw 4 out and you can pick which one to start on once it’s available to you).
Thanks for making your list. I've really enjoyed watching it.
Fantastic!! Absolutely loved your list and I'll be watching out for any of your upcoming videos. :)
Really glad to see Tenpenny Parks getting some love. It has become one of my top choices for a game to introduce people to the hobby. Gorgeous production and a great blend of different mechanics
I love the challenge of sneaking all of your park pieces in without wasting actions to cut trees!
Leaving Earth getting some love! :-D I always championed that one! Awesome seeing it get such a high ranking!
@@KabukiKid it's created some of my most memorable solo gaming moments!!
Really enjoyed the entire list. Thanks Jeff!!
@jasondunham5780 thanks Jason - cheers!!
#1 was a huge surprise, now to get Tom to actually play it! =) Great video and series, as always.
+1 for age of atlantis, awesome game !
Great list! We need to play Empires of the North and Age of Atlantis sometime! I’ll definitely play Evacuation and Underwater Cities anytime
Great list! Love to see so many unique titles!
I did the exact opposite with Tenpenny Parks 😂 sold it right after playing.
With so many space games, I am surprised I didn't see Race for the Galaxy in there. If you haven't tried it out, I strongly suggest to give it a try! One of the best games ever for me
New Frontiers was in the series - the board game version of RftG. I like the board game version better because you get actual credits with which to buy tech and settle planets, instead of needing a surplus of cards to shed throughout the game. I also like having text to supplement all the symbology - it's more approachable, in my opinion.
@@TabletopToolbox I forgot you had New Frontiers. My bad ^^'
I am much more of a RftG fan, but I can see your points.
It was fun playing amalfi with you this week. Great top 100 list.
@@christianlebronroach1005 thanks for completely destroying me at it!! 😅
Jeff, somehow I had missed that you were creating content for the Dice Tower. So Amazing!
Now I get to go back through and find all of your videos!
@@JamieTheHowe holy crap hey Brother!
@@TabletopToolbox A really interesting top 10, too. I've actually never played any of these (and I was only familiar with like 4 of them).
You've intrigued me enough, that I'm going to have to look into all of them.
Wow, my tastes differ so much haha. Cool to see different perspectives
Wow! Thanks Jeff!
What a great series! I really enjoyed it…😊
Fantastic job. Thank you for this great top 100
Im glad Eclipse is getting some love. I bought it just last week. I was going through all the components yesterday, and now I'm even more excited to play it. If it's your #3, im sure it will be great 👍. Thanks for this series. It was a good ride 🎉
I enjoyed there being so many different games on this 100 list. Anomia being so high has me wondering what other undiscovered party games might cause so much laughter. And I loved that it was shortly followed by a game you enjoy playing solo with a spreadsheet. What a juxtaposition!
I am an enigma... :)
Between leaving earth, evacuation and rocketmen i think Jeff wants to leave this planet.
I cant confirm or deny anything... 😂
Made it! Thanks for all the hard work. I have really enjoyed going through this list with you. I have discovered a bunch of new stuff.
A game I came across recently that looks interisting is Dawn On Titan. It's a lighter intro space game with a rock paper scissor style card combat. The focus seems to be on exploring and building factories.
The hour long gameplay I watched had less combat than I would have expected. Maybe more who was playing it than anything.
Seems to be too light for your taste but might get some of the family into heavier space style games. Doesn't look to be much replayabilty to me, but I'd like to try it.
@@ttocsisme I'll look into it - thank you!!
Watched the whole series and had a blast! My heart nearly exploded when I saw Star Realms and then remember that THE Last Command was your “Star Realms” killer! I know I know, my game isn’t out yet, but I had my hopes up 😅.
What a fun list! Definitely found a few things I want to check out, thanks!
Get that game out, buddy!! 😂
I think your love for space-themed games rivals even that of Roy Cannady!
Didn't expect to see Tenpenny so high on someones list on TH-cam :)
And the pictures of Atalantis look really interesting^^
Fun list, Jeff! Eclipse has been my #1 since early in the hobby for me about 10 years ago, and Vindication is my #4. From your love of space theme, deck building, and Vladimir Suchy, I'd recommend Dune:Imperium, Pulsar: 2849, and Star Wars Rebellion.
Good to see Leaving Earth up that high. It is a really good game of deep, mathy planning. No Lunar Rush on the list, though? I am shaking my head in a disappointed manner. 😉. Thanks for putting these together!
Thank you Jeff. You have a great camera presence and your comments on the games are the perfect length. I try to always watch your reviews and of course went through all this series of videos. I was happy to discover more about your taste in games. I think you would love Brass Birmingham, Dune Imperium and Clash of Cultures. Cheers and continue enjoying life, family, friends and the cabin :)
Thank you kindly! And also glad you couldn't see the timer that was keeping me from rambling on too long!! :) I found Brass to be a bit too dry for me and my first Dune experience was pretty bad. I do have Clash of Cultures though and need to get it played!!
I'd love to see your spreadsheet for Leaving Earth. I love that game so much!
I would post it on BGG but it's Macro-enabled and would probably get blocked by virus-filters anyways!
@@TabletopToolbox yup, that would probably get blocked.
Hi Jeff, loved your succinct and personal style.
Really enjoyed this series, great list of games and a lot of different ones too. Glad to see someone else praising dinogenics, it was also my first game into Kickstarters and has been in my top 5 ever since. Since you like a lot of space games, my recommendation would be federation. I just got it this year and it's immediately in my top 10, a great space worker placement euro that seems to be a hidden gem
Thank you for share. Wow you are just north of me. I'm in Lynchburg. Great to see Empires of the North and Vindication way at the top. Here are some suggestions I don't know if you played them, but you might to try. Ginkgopolis, Pulsar 2849 and Lost Ruins of Arnak (?). Enjoy.
I have Pulsar but haven't played it, and Arnak was fine for me, but wasn't a game I wanted to pick up. I'll try to check out Ginkgopolis!
Excellent list. Congratulation.
Love seeing Tenpenny Parks this high. I on,y play solo but it’s a great game. And the way the tiles can’t touch is unique.
I expect Fast Sloths to be on this list next year!
Lol! #1 - I highly doubt I'm doing this list again in a year, #2 I don't see it climbing that high, but I do at least have a copy now!! 😅
I was waiting on each video wondering when Age of Atlantis was going appear. I was surprised to see it make #1!
It was the first review of yours that I watched, and you became one of my favorite reviewers after that one video haha.
It's still the only Kickstarter I backed on campaign info alone. I've backed expansions or reprints to games already released. But for Age of Atlantis there wasn't any reviews to turn to yet.
So I was excited that it really turned out great. I brought it to a convention last year to play with some good friends and we absolutely loved it.
Another work group I play with, had a friend who I helped out searching for a used copy. He loved it that much after getting to play it.
So it's currently also a top 10 game for me.
Right now, it seems unlikely that El Dorado games will be coming back in any capacity, but I keep holding out hope that maybe they can make good to the backers that never received their game. And possibly even have another publisher reprint the game. Get more copies out there and possibly gain some expansion potential.
Already a longer comment than I meant to write, but I have enjoyed Jeff week!
A solid Top 10.
Thanks, rentless!!
Thanks for the videos. Age of Atlantis is on my shelf of shame. Guess I need to give it a shot! :)
Yes you do! Thanks!
Also love Vindication! There are 2 games with a space/sci-fi setting that I'm surprised aren't on your list -- Dune: Imperium and Unsettled. Love the tight play of Dune: Imperium. The co-op optimization/puzzle solving along with the excellent writing that really engages you in the theme makes Unsettled a very interesting and enjoyable game to play. It can be played solo but I think the fun is in the player interaction trying to figure out how to overcome the situation you're facing.
Great job on the list! You have me wanting to see if I can get my hands on a copy of Leaving Earth now though...
Dune Imperium didn't do it for me - felt too restrictive by having to have the card in order to take the worker spot. A buddy keeps trying to get me to play it again though so we'll see. Unsettled angered me because the puzzle was too tight - harder than Spirit Island to solve. Its not an exploration game - its a survival game - and I was bummed I coukdnt explore. Played twice and was nowhere near finishing when time ran out, both times. Canceled my pledge on the second KS after that.
@@TabletopToolbox I can definitely understand your point of view. The tight gameplay of D:I is for me what makes every point or well executed turn so rewarding. I'm not big on point salad games and D:I is definitely the opposite of those. I can't compare Unsettled to SI since I haven't played SI. I do agree that Unsettled is a survival puzzle as opposed to an exploration game. Exploration is limited to whatever specifically supports what is needed to accomplish the current objective. We've won the 4 missions we've played but in each one there's been a point where we were sure that there was no way to successfully get the objective done. Really creative, out of the box thinking and use of player abilities on others' turns is what saved the day. That's why I think playing it multiplayer is so much better -- you need everyone's wild ideas in order to find a solution that just might work. The things that you dislike about each are exactly what makes them interesting to me. Glad there's such a great selection of games that there's something for everyone!
28 crossovers with my Top 250 Games of All-Time.
Top 10 proves it ... Jeff "Quintessential Man of Culture" Knapp
Not sure if it was suggested or if you’ve played it, but Café by Pythagoras is a great little engine-building, efficiency puzzle. Pretty good for newer gamers and a great game in a little box. One of my favorites!
I'll look into it - thanks for the tip!!
Damn, Leaving Earth was on my list for years but it never made it to the German market and the English version was impossible to get. Such a shame.
Such an interested 1st pick
Leaving Earth is a great game. Unfortunately not available anymore, but luckily I´ve got one at a time where it was available (incl. expansions). But I´m also having very much fun with it.
Is it truly no longer available? That'd be a tragedy!!
About Eclipse, any preferred way of playing it? Expasions and such or which do you recommend for me to get and make the game even better? I see a lot of stuff for the game on the publishers website. Thanks Jeff
The expansions don't change much - just some more variety in weapons and systems to discover. I know it's supposed to be a grandiose game but I like quick, 2-3 player games of it. It becomes less confrontational and people can just explore and expand until fighting it out for the center space.
Understood, 2-3 is most likely the player count I'll be able to play as well. Ill get some stuff. Thanks for the info Jeff. 👍 @TabletopToolbox
1:54 Bugs Bunny is in Meadow? 😊
Jeff Month!
Very intresting. I bought Age of Atlantis after your recommendation. I really like it, although i tought it might need another pass thru game testing. I've played it five times, once solo (which is super rare for me, i never play solo), but just last week a sold it. my friends didn't like it as much as me, and we just found that as a group we just rather play Scythe for a similar itch.
Thanks for the recommendation though, so fun to try, and keep up the great content!
Jeff week, Jeff week, Jeff week!!(sounds like Toga Toga Toga).
have you ever tried Cthulu wars?
Unfortunately I have no interest in the Cthulu theme whatsoever. I didn't even know what it was until I bought a car several years ago that had "CTHULU" as a license plate and I had to ask the guy what it meant... :)
@@TabletopToolbox gotcha, yah i avoided most of the other Cthulu-themed games such as Arkham and Eldrich Horror. I don't care for those
Of all times? So there won't come another boardgame tomorrow or the day after?
2 of his top games are about humans leaving Earth because we ruined the planet. LOL
Really different top 10 . Make a lot different .... thanks
@stevensum2011 hey if everyone had the same top 100 what would we need the other 53,000 games for?!?! :)
well, I managed to view all ten videos. the things I do for The Table Toolbox guy. I really don't like these lists, first one I've watched from beginning to end in a few years.
He came oh so close to not saying "4X". oh well.
"Brass Birmingham" wasn't #1?! I'm shocked. (yes, this is a joke.)
And there was a game he mentioned a couple of times that didn't make the list.
'Leaving Earth' being his #2 was no surprise. That 'Age of Atlantis' is #1 did surprise me given it's history, I think a game that basically stole money should not be in such a list as this.
I know the list is personal and not a reflecting what is *actually* top 100 games, but in my opinion, even if many of the games are good, they are far from the greatest games in the world. At least I now know that if a game is recommended by Jeff, my taste is in general so different that I better stay clear
Im sorry, but Anomia is utter shite, i have seen all of these lists for a few years now and that is the only selection across 34 lists, 340 games, that i do not accept, absolutly terrible, put exploding kittens on instead, still love you jeff, please make more videos, your'e great
