- It's 1992 and we see some classic BR traction in Hertfordshire. We start at St Albans with a class 56 hauled railtour before moving across to the East Coast Main Line at Potters Bar. Here we see Valenta powered Inter-City 125, class 90, 91+MkIV workings plus class 47 hauled IC Charters, class 31 & 47 hauled parcels workings along with class 37 & 47 hauled freight trains. Some cracking footage, thanks for sharing.
Year I was born, and the county I was born in. Happy days.
great video and great sounds from the 56 at the start!
The Class 56 were popular on charter trains at the time, as they were freight locos.
Thanks for another quality video, would the 56 be on a charter service?
@@IanOwens-s8w yes, it was a rail tour special....
Still a fair few Intercity liveried mk1's kicking about in this.
Probably charter stock
First time I've ever seen a Class 56 pull passenger cars. I take it this wasn't very often?
@@ONEFATE9 this one was a rail tour charter train. They have worked booked passenger trains, normally due to loco failures or dragging electric trains when the overhead line power is off.....
For a freight loco the 56 is quite quick pulling away from St Alban's.
Excellent once again, the days when the railway wasn’t a business and the infrastructure was cared for.
Looking at the state of the rolling stock, it wasn’t truly ‘cared for’…?
@@pjotrtje0NL lol very true
Is that a Class 90 on the ECML?
Yes. Not sure what that working was but I have been on one up the ECML about 6 or 7 years ago
@@nathanw9770 Rare during the IC era though.
