I assume the reason Neil didn't help the yellow team in the last room in the second half of the room raids is because he was actually told by the producers from day 1 that he was not to do so in any way in that kind of situation? (Meaning that if there was a chance that the game would end in a tie?)
I bet that if Niel found the item that was mentioned in the clues, then it would probably give the teams an unfair advantage, thus there would probably be a fine and/or maybe even they would fire Niel and cause the series to end.
