It is so much to their credit that OMD can write songs like "As we open, so we close" and "Ghost Star" from The Punishment of Luxury and they make you want to burst into tears. And they were making songs that made you want to cry in 1981 with souvenir, Joan of Arc, and Maid of Orleans. Dazzle ships too contains beautiful songs like "International" and "The Romance of the Telescope". All of this and Andy McCluskey is so blokish and down to earth.
What a great interview and interviewer. So refreshing to see someone who actually takes the time to pose interesting questions and actually listen to the replies respectively.
Pete, I had to comment just to say "Thank you". Putting aside the fact that I've been a fan of OMD since their early days, this was a delightful, really interesting, engaging interview. Top notch mate. You knew the right questions to ask, and you let Andy answer them in his own inimitable, interesting and entertaining style. Great rapport, could have listened to the two of you talk for hours. Keep up the good work ! :-)
Great to hear that Andy likes the exact bands that I liked ie. David Bowie, Roxy Music, Kraftwerk. Seen all of them except Kraftwerk. Great interview ... relaxed and interesting. Respect to AM when he retired to be with his family.
Really enjoyed this interview brought a tear to my eye in places , looking forward to November , taking two of my daughters as a surprise night out that they do not know about yet .
What a brilliant host Pete Price is- how have I never heard of him before??
Andy McCluskey, Paul Humphreys and OMD…
Two lovely guys and what a band!!

That's so great! What a surprise, hope you all have a great time!
Did you have a great night? I hope to see OMD 2021.
@@mop714 Yes we did thanks, was planning to go to the Royal Albert Hall but Coronie put pay to that .
@@swallef1 sorry
Going next month in Belfast, can't wait!
Dazzleships is the the best album theyve released....
I wish Andy had time to explain how different the music industry is now compared to when he started. Seems like everything is so controlled now.
Bowie/Eno/Velvet Underground/Kraftwerk + a knowing that Genesis and The Eagles are rubbish = The making of the greatest debuts of all time
23:20 I went to see Depeche Mode in 2013 and I have to say, it pissed me off that they changed Halo into pretty much a different song altogether
