Two 1970 Buick GSX Stage 1's go head to head in a quarter mile drag race. Both cars are competing in the Pure Stock Drags, so modifications are limited to porting, blue printing and minor weight reduction without altering the stock appearance. That means stock intake manifold, stock exhaust manifolds and street tires. Both cars are powered by Buick 455 Cubic Inch (7.4 Liter) V8 which was rated at 360 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Horsepower doesn't sound like much today; however, in 1970, these cars with minor mods were street killers.
Both cars are equipped with GM's Turbo 400 automatic transmission. So both cars are supposed to be identical. WHO WINs? Hint, the car with better traction as the trap speeds are nearly identical.

@@gt-37guy6 Don't be so silly.........the white ones were faster because there was less pigment in the paint, making them lighter. ;o)
Love the Buick GSX, specially the Saturn Yellow. Never saw a Apollo White, with a green stripe before? I really feel the Buick grand sport experimental is badass and doesn't as much love as the other GM A bodies. Such as the Chevelle, GTO and 442.
67 GTO in my day. Favorite was my 70 Olds 442 W30 ..wow..screamer
There were no green stripe gsx. Look close it is not a gsx.

My friend had a 70gs 455 that being the heavy car I raced him with my 70 GTO 455ho the gs smoked me
Gonna go out on a limb and say the GSX wins.
All the Cosmic Tumblers fell into place for Buick's GSX.
drop shift points at they will pick up. 455 needs to shift around 4500 to stay in torque curve.
