Is it permissible to request our mentors to contact the program for a personal recommendation, AFTER the program has contacted us through SOAP and conducted an interview?

Umar bhai. How tough is it to get into a prelim surgery position? My creds are 253/239/CS Pass/228/2019 graduate/1 year housejob in medicine and surgery completed. Have 4 case reports (all pub-med indexed) and 1 local original article published as well. How can I increase my chances to land a prelim surgery position?
Prelim surgery has a very high match rate. 70-90%. Electives or observership in surgery should help.
Umar Bhai, what if the program does not contact us. Then there will be no round offer right ?
Very rarely but you can receive an offer without interview. After Thursday 3 pm, you can contact programs yourself.

Hi, Just want to add that we can not do intern year again after doing
Prelim IM. I just want to confirm if it will be helpful in doing Prelim Surgery for an IM categorical spot in next year's match. Doesn't it appear like IM is our backup plan when we will apply for IM residency after doing a Prelim in Surgery? Thanks in anticipation!
Yes you can do prelim surgery to match into surgery but the only time you should do prelim IM is if you are going for an advanced position (anesthesia, radio, dermatology etc.)
