What's with the electricity thing.? I mean I get it not every stage has the ability to just open the floor out of nowhere.. but I don't know... It doesn't make as much sense hearing just the audio in my opinion.. if I saw the performance to go with this this would definitely make a lot more sense... At the last verse of the song, the Maitlands hold two ends of a wire to connect them and they end up getting electrocuted. Earlier in the scene, Adam mentions he had to set up several electrical outputs in order to get the faulty wiring to work. The lights would flicker during the song.
Yeah that's fair. With the when wiring stuff, Adam is setting up a mobile on the crib instead of just polishing it, so when he tries to plug it in the wall, that's when the flickering sounds happen

So, do they just remain on stage after getting shocked or do they still go offstage somehow? Also, why did the change the lines with the percentages? I understand the other changes were needed to create the build up for the death, but that one really confused me!
Their bodies are still on stage and there’s a “smoke” effect on Barbara’s body before Adam goes to wake her up. They changed the lines because the stage didn’t have a trap door.
I saw the show this past weekend and the whole lyric change from 3:24 through the percentage wasn’t there! It’s so odd that they would change it just to change it back but I swear that part was the original lyrics.

They die by electrocution in the tour. They couldn’t have the trap door for the tour so Adam and Barbara can’t fall through the floor

they can't reliably book theaters that have a trapdoor they can use for their deaths, so they changed it to electrocution
