Really good safety tips, for drivers today. It's rare someone dimming the high beams before actually seeing the on coming vehicle. Truck driver said dimming after seeing his cab lights really helps, he said , waiting until you see my headlights you've already made it hard to keep focus. Especially with the Halogen, Projector and LED.. Thanks Osbourne. Ford just didn't sell cars and trucks they sold safety.. If you never seen" signal 30" which we had to watch in drivers Education class. That film is very scary, graphic after accident footage. Drive safe.
Did anyone watch the part where the student driver was rocking the car to get out and when it flipped to him pulling out there were tire tracks a head of him where it looks like he was towed out and went back to the same spot where he could pull out through the tracks! Right prior to that you can see where his front end is kind of buried and NO tracks a head of him.
When you receive a citation, instead of paying a fine, your license should be suspended until you watch at least four hours of these retro driver's ed films!
i agree with that. it would make folks think.these films may be vintage but the same advice still applies today in 2019 as in 1960, the year of this film. 4 wd , anti-lock brakes, posi- traction and front wheel drives have made driving safer on ice and snow, true but you still have to slow down and use the brain god give you to be safe.
I had my share of '60 fords. They were giant, wide cars to say the least. The most fun was a 292 CID 3 on the tree, no power brakes no power steering and with vacuum powered wipers (be glad those days are gone)
Thanks for this EXCELLENT review. It is completely in line with defensive driving basics.
Great advises for the 60s and today.
I saw the Montgomery Wards on Michigan Ave in Dearborn- I love that old Merc convertible too

Perhaps that's what inspired daytime running lights on today's cars
Drive as if your life depended on it. It does!

I like this.....a nostalgic years & cars.
17.20 Oh, those vacuum wipers!
My ''53 Chevy had vacuum wipers. Pouring down rain in city traffic they barely loved. A sprinkle on the highway and they were went like mad. :)
I had a 66 ambassador with vacuum wipers.
Funny enough I have this same clip on 16mm film! I used to watch it all the time 😂

Fair to say I'm glad you aren't in charge at the DMV.

Get off the damn cell phone fools, machine operations are a full time job!
I can dig it!!!!!!!!!!
OMG, there is so much wrong in this educational film, but I now understand, want and love a White 60 Ford,

@@craignehring four-wheel drum brakes, bias-ply tires, metal dashboards, solid steering columns, and ignition switches in the dashboard
The 1960 Ford that s Tom the 1959 Ford was Jerry
Sadly, my white Ford was a '61. I would have and still taken any color of 60. And I don't mean the Falcon... My 65 was just fine
How effective are snow tires, anyone?
Studded tires on ice is the only way to go.
Better than bias ply summer tires.
Studs only gave sparks and left tracks in your blacktop.
Thank God for radials.
It's a bit weird looking at big stylish cars, with skinny tires, from our modern era.
Cross ply narrow tyres. Drum brakes. Vacuum wipers. Sealed Beam headlamps. Vague steering. The driver was at a complete disadvantage.
Optional seat belts and padded dashboard too
I guess it's a disadvantage, but when you drive one it doesn't seem so bad? You adjust your brake response to the cars capabilities.
Rockeroller just go very slow and keep out of traffic.
Bobby Heffley and deep dish steering wheel too !
