Thank you all so much for the help, tips, hints and advice, it has really helped me and I am slowly getting used to the systems and mechanics. Many people have told me to play Ascended. Should I start that, seeing how I am still in the early stages of this? Let me know what you think. Thanks everyone again. ;)
Depends on your PC, you need strong one for ASA. Ascended is the same game but with better visuals and some minor improvements. You can stay on ASE to learn how to play and if you like the game you can play next maps on ASA (in ASE you need to buy all DLC maps but if you buy ASA you will have DLC maps known from ASE DLCs for free - some are already added and more will come in the future).
I'm more than happy watching ASE. A lot of people are less than happy with the state of ASA and all the pay to win mechanics that have been added and losing dinos to the void.
ASE had many problems when it first came out. It's computer spec requirements were high, and it was badly optimized. It has had years to be updated into working much better. ASA is even more ruthless on your computer, and less optimized. It crashes a LOT! If you play for three hours, it will crash 2-3 times, and you will lose progress each time. It also requires you to be very knowledgeable about how to fine tune and adjust your computer to play ASA without tons of lag, screen tearing, random crashes, and major screenrate fluctuations. Your computer fans turn on high and the CPU core temp goes through the roof, even with custom built rigs and two thousand dollar GPUs. It's the same game. Play ASE. Your computer will thank you, and not burn out in three months like it will trying to run ASA.
Ascended is easier. the building mechanics are better for new players, the water and electrical systems are way more convenient, wild baby animals make getting good early game tames trivial, and many of the creatures added in Ascended are easy to tame and very strong. Both versions are full of their own special bugs, jankiness, instabilities, charms, and quirks.
Marc is learning, he can't be stopped! I think you shot that raptor unconscious in the last episode, right before you died. The tranq arrows keep ticking for a bit. That's why he tamed so fast, as his hugner was low. Prime meat is great for taming btw. 2nd edit: You can make the raptors attack when you sit on them, do the fighting for you. You also need to keep the dinos unconscious while taming, by force feeding them narcs or narc berries. The purple bar shows their consciousness and it will slowly drop down until they wake up or until they're tamed. Their hungers affects how often they'll eat, and when they eat you gain taming progress. You can loot the saddle of richard, it's there in the middle. The dinos weight when you're on it, which tis their weight combined with your weight, is in the top right corner.
If your tame dies don't forget to take it's saddle off, it's in the middle of the tames screen, similar to how your armor works. Raptor saddle is pretty cheap but some of the later creatures can get expensive. So it's good to make a habbit of taking the saddle back
Hey man, I appreciate that. I don't have a schedule per se, but I enjoy getting into it a lot so uploads will be regular most likely. Am glad you like them man! :)
Zedex- love the vids don’t stop. Love how you read comments herbivores / plant eating dinosaurs (small one) most don’t need to be tranqued. Like that monchomps.
Use your tame to harvest. Raptor will get a lot more hyde and meat, then your axe and pick. Some animals also harvest threes, berries, thatch ect. I would recommend a moschops, he is good with all and passiv tame. Passiv tame means, you dint need to knock it out. Put mejoberries (sometimes other things) on the last slot on your hotbar to tame passivtames.
Yo, not all tames are tranq tamed. Some are call Passive taming like Chops. You may walk up to it with taming food in last slot of hot bar. Berries, meat or rotten meat. And not all tames are straight forward some are unusual food or Passive walk up it and pushing E key. Oh try to catch a flying to fly in the sky. And please don't shoot sleeping dinos, use narco Berries to keep it asleep if it's high level. You can track taming dino on your tracker in top inventory. Best food mutton, prime fish or meat, purple Berries, crops, but use narcotics or narco Berries to keep tame asleep.
Nice job on the raptors. Sorry you lost one, but that's Ark for ya. Don't get too attached to dinos. lol One thing you should add to your list to do is getting a spy glass so you can see wild dino levels at a distance. When you're hunting high level dinos to tame, it's a must have. To make one you need crystal which is hard to get. But there's a cave not far away with crystal at the beginning of the cave, before you run into any cave nasties. The raptor and raft can get you there pretty easy, the hard part if finding the cave. Sorry I missed you today, you're stream was kind of short & I was out on a store run. But I'll try to catch one of your live streams soon.
Some useful info, your pick is better for gathering thatch from trees, meat from dinos and flint from rocks, while your hatchet is better at collecting wood from trees, hide from dinos and stone from rocks, also if you want to mine any other resource such as metal, obsidian or crystal use your pick. There are some dinos that specialize in gathering certain resources for example if you want a ton of stone - Doedicurus, if you want metal - Ankylosaurus, if you want wood - Beaver/Mammoth.
Tip: Craft two bows. load one with tranqs arrows and regular arrows in another then switch between them as needed so you aren't wasting tranqs when you want to kill something. Saves having to open inventory to switch arrows.
@ nice 😂 it’s pretty much the same game just nice UI and graphics and things like building are better because there’s more options and many different structures were combined into one that you can change while building to save your engram points for more important things. Also you can’t level up movement speed like you can in evolved.
Unconscious raptor you found was probably biten by the snake and he went to sleep. He was tamed fast because he was already hungry when you put meat to tame him. Also better meat to tame is a prime meat so you should give him prime if you have. Also when torpor of creature you are taming is low it's better to force feed him narcoberies or narcotics. Shuting tranq arrows for unconscious dinos will ruin taming effectiveness so tamed creature will get less levels. It's not a problem now when you're taming low level creatures but experienced players are only looking for high level creatures (over 100 level) Perfect taming can give you 50% new levels so if you're taming level 100 dino, perfect tamed one will be level 150 after taming.
Nope, That was the raptor he shot tranqs into last episode and it ran, then the 2nd raptor killed him. The first one fell asleep and was laying there all night. The info box @13:22 even said Tamable by: Tribe ZEDEX.
Hi Mark I'm really enjoying watching you learn this game you are very entertaining! If you are considering switching to ascended I think you would prefer it, they have improved alot of mechanics with that game. Also it looks better with easier accessibility to mods if you so wish. Just 1 thing I would recommend you do sooner rather than later before you're a high level is look at how to optimise the stats and single player settings before you enter the island. It will give you quality of life improvements like higher level dinos, taming speed, harvest amounts per resource, respawn timers of resource, breeding timers, stat increase per level, day and night cycle and a bunch of other things you can change. Make sure you don't make it too easy on yourself but still better than official rates. If you type in TH-cam Best Ark singleplayer settings you should get a better understanding of what it all means. Good luck out there survivor! Edit: I tried linking the video but couldn't figure out how to do it on the mobile app, but I think the best guide is from a youtuber named AtlusYT and his best single player settings video. He describes each setting clearly and the positive and negatives.
Okay, I will download and install Ascended and give it a shot; probably better before I get too far into this, as you say. I'll see what people think and if it's hated, I'll come back to this. I'm just waiting on an overall consensus of if I should or not, but I'll download it now.
I'll give it a look. Having both of these on my system is getting up close to 500GB lol But yeah, I may enjoy one over the other so will make up my mind and upload tomorrow night ;)
I agree, switch to Ascended and make sure your single player settings are set up so you get up to lvl 150 dinos spawning. It will be much easier down the line.
It's cool. I see all comments separately in the backrooms. ;) Appreciate the watch and that you enjoyed it :) Didn't know I could Bola small things. Will get busy with that then! hehe
If you shoot an animal AFTER it is already knocked out, it will lower the taming effectiveness, and reduce the number of levels you get from taming them. A "perfect tame" will give you about 1.5 times the levels of the original level. So a perfect tame of a level150 will give you a level 225 (usually only 224 though😢)once the taming process is done.
Great episode, congrats on the new tame, he's great. The west side of the map is great for raptors. If you go too far north though it gets real dangerous real fast, lots of big aggressive stuff. There's also a peninsula though that some people like to build on.
Thank you. I really thought I was going into the lions den to get one and thankfully one was already out cold, so I think that helped me a lot! I have grand plans on doing some exploring. It's pretty much my main goal right now, to set myself up somewhere with everything I need, so that I can do some expeditions! Am really excited for it, but then things just get in the way of my dreams lol
While riding the Dino you press the open external inventory key that I explained in the comments of the last video. F. Also most Dino’s have different attacks on left click and right click and in some cases the C key.
A good way to level up your tames is by attacking trees. Even if it's an animal that doesn't harvest the resources from the trees, it will give them more xp quickly, and is a good way to level them up BEFORE taking them to fight something that may be able to kill them.
When sailing the raft stay as close to shore as possible cuz there's giant fish in the deep that will attack rafts unprovoked. Also giant crocodiles will attack you while you sail and destroy your raft
I think ascended would be better to play as it has some quality of life improvements like being able to pick up structures without destroying them so you can replace stuff if you misplaced something
Prime meat is mainly gotten from dangerous/big dinos and is really good for taming! Instead of shooting the knocked dinos you can force-feed them narco berries to keep them asleep longer (if necessary)
That's a lot of progress already ! I see that you already have a lot of solid advice in the comments, so I won't repeat it. I'll just say that I don't think it's necessary to play Ascended right now, since you've just bought Evolved and have just started to make progress. It might be fun to try Ascended later, but for now you can use Evolved as dress rehearsals :)
I have so much advise that I have had to make a Word document and copy and paste most of said advice into it. Then I read it and digest it and try to make it make sense in my mind and then try to implement said document in my next playthrough. I now fire up the game and spend 5 minutes just blankly staring at rocks before I begin lol
I'm just mentally preparing myself and winding up. It's all good! Downloaded Ascended and will give it a go too and include it in tomorrow nights upload and see how it feels, for me, and those that watch. Personally, I am a little too invested in ASE at the moment and have plans and wants and dreams to do things. At the very beginning, but might be too far to reset.
@@zedexgamingchannel See you tomorrow then ! ^_^ I'm glad that people are invested in your videos. I noticed that hundreds of people have already joined after I did, too ! The number of subscribers keeps climbing :) So I'm sure whatever you decide, people will be interested.
Herbivores will allow you to gather more resources and they have more weight plus weight reduction for certain resources for you. Like those triceratops near your base would be a great tame for getting barriers, thatch, fiber, and wood. Moschops and Lystrosaurus are passive tames. You just put what ever item they are requesting into the last slot of your hot bar which is the one labeled as 0. Then you walk up to them and press "E" to feed them which tames them passively. Also when creatures are unconscious DO NOT hit them. It ruins the taming effectiveness which gives you extra levels. Instead carry extra narcotic and put it into their inventory and then force feed them it the same way you would of fed it to yourself. It has to be in their inventory though, and this will increase their torpidity level (Sleepiness). Also you should put saddles on all of your creatures, it gives them armor so they take less damage and are more tanky.
@@zedexgamingchannel I think the limit is like 600 tames. So yep, definitely you can have a posse of tames for mats, fighting, and even breeding. Honestly the most dinosaurs you will ever need in a fight is for the bosses and they only allow 20 tames to join the fight to help you. For higher level tames I would recommend looking into getting Kibble, you will need to look that up because it can get a little confusing on what tames require what kibble and the eggs/mats needed for the various types of kibble. Probably be a good idea to keep a cheat sheet on hand. Basically Kibble makes taming creatures way easier and faster. Kibble also gives you a higher taming effectiveness chance with getting 100% which in turn gives more levels after a dinosaur is tamed. For example, lets say you are taming a level 50 Raptor. If you did a perfect taming effectiveness of 100% your raptor would gain an additional 25 levels, so your new raptor would tame at level 75 instead of 50. Don't worry, if you mess up the taming effectiveness it just reduces the bonus levels based on the percentage, so 50% would give around 12 to 13 levels in this example. Even if you fubar the tame the lowest it will be in this example would be level 50. One final advice, while you are riding your tame you can control the dinosaur and attack. Here is a link with easy explanations of what each of the PC keys/controls are and what they do. ark.fandom.com/wiki/Controls
Never shoot an unconscious animal. It reduced the effectiveness of the tame. A perfect 100% tame will gain 1/2 of his levels additional minus one ....ie: a level 10 will gain 4 level if it is 100% .....
Neutral ONLY attacks after you or them has been hit...... attack this target is what you need to use to get them to attack first ... also instead of riding around in circles trying to shoot.... attack with the animal .....
moshchops are good tames. and passive tames walk up to it , it will tell you what it would like to eat, it is random things. if you don't have some of the items walk away and find another. don't need a saddle and good first mounts
You should use prime meat for better taming. In some cases it can more than half the amount of time it takes to tame a Dino. Also don’t damage a Dino or allow wild Dino’s to damage it once you’ve knocked it out or it will lose taming effectiveness. Taming effectiveness determines how many extra levels it will gain after being tamed
So the blue icons on the bottom right that you know to be your health and stamina appear on the top right for the Dino you’re on. From the top down: Up Arrow - exp Cement Weight - weight Water Drop - hydration Ham hock - hunger Lightening bold - stamina + sign - health Then obviously you can tell the level based on the height of the less opaque area over the more opaque area within the symbol. Some Dino’s get a weight reduction for certain resources but they have to be in the Dino’s inventory not your own inventory for the weight reduction to apply. Also if your hunger gauge is white rather than blue, press the “+” key on your num pad not on the top number bar of your keyboard to poop. You should do this before eating more food to make sure you get the maximum nourishment.
If you would be interested in a mod that would help a lot. You can download the awesome spyglass mod. You can see the level and what it takes to tame a creature. However do not run with it on all the time. Cause it does show where creatures are near you. But if you’re looking for a specific one and a decent level. It is definitely a great mod to have.
You mentioned putting Sarah as a turret but I didn’t see if you actually set her to turret mode. Dilos have an option to place on turret mode where then they attack they don’t move they just shoot their green stuff to slow creatures or blind people. You just hold E on them and set to turret mode.
DONT ATTACK CREATURES THAT ARE K.O. .. they get more levels if they don't get hit after getting knocked out... also the one raptor tamed faster bc it had Ben out a while so it was what they call starve tamed.. it was starving so it ate faster in between the bites making it tame faster.. it's a trick that ppl that's been playing a while do.. knock it out build defense around it and go off and do something while it starves ... I'd wait until you know the basics better before I tried that but your doing good just remember it's a pretty big learning curve and just have fun lol
You should have stone arrows to use instead of wasting your tranq arrows on killing dinos. Also the Pegomastax steals something from you or your Dino’s inventory and runs away when you kill it there will be a bag for you to retrieve your stolen items
You can NOT let animals go .... if you Unclaim them ... they remain tamed... just their name shows up in red and they are "unclaimed" and wo t feed them selves and will just stand around and starve. It's like dropping your pet dog along side the road.
Wild herbivores will not attack unless you or your tames attack them first. Carnivores will always attack if you get close enough. Black berries knock you out White berries add stamina but drain water Purple berries best for tamimg herbivores Some herbivores you tame by walking up to them and feeding them what they like. Usually purple berries. To feed them you have to have the food in the far right slot across the bottom. I believe it's #10
Most of herbivores will not attack unless you or your tames attack them first, but don't get too close to therizino. Also if there is a group of them and you are attacking one the rest could join the fight too.

I now fire up the game and spend 5 minutes just blankly staring at rocks before I begin lol
@@zedexgamingchannel Oh dear, that sounds much less fun than dying because of innocent rookie mistakes XD
There's lots of maps. If you decide you enjoy this hell called Ark🤣 you could always switch over to Ascended on the next map.
So I could have a posse of tames that are for collecting mats and have others for fighting? No limit on tames I can have?
@@zedexgamingchannelthink it’s up to 500 tames
You don’t have to hit the feet you just have to hit the Dino on the body with the bola.
Neutral ONLY attacks after you or them has been hit...... attack this target is what you need to use to get them to attack first ... also instead of riding around in circles trying to shoot.... attack with the animal .....
headshots make tranqarrows work much better. Always try headshots. And do not shot uncouncius tames, forcefeed them Narcoberries. Much better.
In my mind I tell myself to headshot, but panic takes over and I just go for broke lol
moshchops are good tames. and passive tames walk up to it , it will tell you what it would like to eat, it is random things. if you don't have some of the items walk away and find another. don't need a saddle and good first mounts
From the top down:
Up Arrow - exp
Cement Weight - weight
Water Drop - hydration
Ham hock - hunger
Lightening bold - stamina
+ sign - health
Then obviously you can tell the level based on the height of the less opaque area over the more opaque area within the symbol.
You just hold E on them and set to turret mode.
neutral makes them only attack if they are attacked. If someting attack you then they wont attack. Then you must set stance to attack your target.
Drop means supply drop hahaha
You should have stone arrows to use instead of wasting your tranq arrows on killing dinos. Also the Pegomastax steals something from you or your Dino’s inventory and runs away when you kill it there will be a bag for you to retrieve your stolen items
Carnivores tame better with prime meat if you can get it like from that snake
You can NOT let animals go .... if you Unclaim them ... they remain tamed... just their name shows up in red and they are "unclaimed" and wo t feed them selves and will just stand around and starve. It's like dropping your pet dog along side the road.
Well, fuck lol
I'll reclaim her!
Ase crashes often, Asa crashes alot depends on the hardware, id stay on Ase, plus there's fewer bugs on Ase
You don't have to get down the raptor to access its inventory. But since i haven't played on PC I won't be able to tell you which key to use sry.
Am gonna just mash all the keys then lol
It's "F".
Wasting all those bolas as it’s just making my skin crawl.
Can I join someone on PS4 ? I really love watching these btw 👍
PS4? Am playing this on my ZX Spectrum48K!
;)
Wild herbivores will not attack unless you or your tames attack them first. Carnivores will always attack if you get close enough.
Black berries knock you out
White berries add stamina but drain water
Purple berries best for tamimg herbivores
Some herbivores you tame by walking up to them and feeding them what they like. Usually purple berries. To feed them you have to have the food in the far right slot across the bottom. I believe it's #10
Most of herbivores will not attack unless you or your tames attack them first, but don't get too close to therizino. Also if there is a group of them and you are attacking one the rest could join the fight too.
No you don't have to get off... use the F key. People have been telling you that for two episodes. F is the key to acess remote inventories
I pressed F on my raptor at the loot crate drop and the raptor inventory came up though.
You needs bolas qet your self some bola bolas
