    You know, ever since I was 3 I’ve had a fascination in trains, I love steam locomotives it’s the only machine man has built that feels alive. But I met a crossroads when my love for nature and taking care of the environment and steam locomotives clashed. I felt that soon these beautiful machines would be gone, but this has given me hope, not only will a sustainable and environmentally friendly option for travel be achieved, but it will be done with steam. Thank you.

      A trick : watch movies at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.

    A great summary of the project so far, I have been watching with interest from the UK, I own a 15” gauge loco that incorporates a few modern including a Lempor exhaust. Good luck with the agloco!

      @@Mackwell-Co No, it was fitted when the loco was 2 or 3 years old, she was built with a few modernisations in mind for the future, so it was quite straight forward to fit.

    Love this! I’d be interested to see more specs on the locomotive side of this. Driver diameter, bore and stroke, cut-off % in full gear, valve gear, etc

    Baldwin Locomotive works did build a rather large water tube locomotive, it was retired because it was complicated and had 3 cylinders and donated to a museum where it resides today and is rolled back and forth along a short section of track via a hidden chain. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldwin_60000

    If you're reinventing the locomotive boiler, or at least using an unconventional design, have you considered changing the overall shape of the casing? Perhaps something that would allow for larger firebox/combustion chamber and generating coil space? Additionally, do you have a separator drum which you circulate water from and to ala Lamont?

    You are doing a great job there!. I'm also doing experiments with steam at home (at a much lower scale) but would like to ask you, is there any way condensation drain can be avoided at all?
    I have steam coming out a ~4mm ID tube. Over time a drop of water condensates on it's tip until it falls, then the process repeats for as long as there is steam coming out of it. Is there a way to entirely avoid this from happening?, or at least something I could do to mitigate it to some extent? Thanks.

    The boiler you are building is known as a steam generator. Some of the steam cares used that, and reheated the steam also.

      ALL boilers are 'steam generators'.
      This one looks to be a water-tube boiler, more commonly found in marine applications.
      Locomotive-type boilers are normally fire-tube types,

      @@tooleyheadbang4239 Both boilers and steam generators make steam, the difference is a boiler is a high-pressure vessel and a steam generator is not. But you are correct

    Interesting, I am a new subscriber. Through we all love railroad engines. I think the agreo-loco is the way to go for now where you cant get access to a trial line. Farmers also have access to lots of organic material they can burn for fuel... The problem being that same organic material is often used to fertilize and might have a higher value as such.

      @@Mackwell-Co You have a point! Yet I don't know enough about plant nutrition to know if the ash is more fertile than the un-burned biological material.

    A guy at Rushden, Northamptonshire, UK built a modern steam tractor. His name Eddie Lancaster. But he could not sell it. Designed for small holders would direct plough, I think two furrows.

    normal combustion engiine can burn wood gas ithat is known since WW2 germans was using wood gas powered trucks... and I think burning wood gas in engine probably will be more eficient then burnng wood to heet water to move pistons... beside that its awesome project big up ! :)ps; try to convert gasoline engine from one of yours tractor and check wich one will be more eficient please

    Quick question, will we ever see this steam locomotive on a train? Like will it be able to move under it’s own power, and haul things, stuff like that.

    COULD THIS BE USED TO GENERATE ELECTRICITY FOR A HOUSE AND HEAT IT TOO? I LIKE THE IDEA OF A STEAM TRACTOR AS I HAVE SEEN THEM OUT PULL A REGULAR TRACTOR. WORKED IN AG MOST OF MY LIFE

      Burning rag was thrown into firebox at 6.04 pm on the clock, so about 52 minutes from stone cold to pulling trains.

    Will this locomotive have some more safety features like a butterfly-firebox door that opens and shuts with a step of a lever? Or perhaps having water condensers and roller bearing axles as well?

      Yes, the inward swinging door as fitted was designed as a safer and simpler alternative to butterfly firedoors. It is straightforward to set up for operation with steam via a foot pedal which may be undertaken in future. Yes to roller bearing axleboxes.
