Unpopular opinion: I think the game is scary, but game devs do not need to take a concept that is scary in itself and make it paranormal for it to be scary. I was stalked by an ex-girlfriend of mine and though she was not supernatural, one obsessed person with a tendency to track down where you live and watch you from a distance wherever you went was enough for me to be afraid.
There are plenty of games that are exactly that, stalker games that aren’t paranormal, the devs did really well on the game, it doesn’t take away from the game just because it’s a paranormal game

Daz, the guy your playing as didn't actually cheat on the ex! It says in the game that her mental health started to deteriorate a year earlier and she began stalking / harrasing his friends and family. As a result, there's a certain postcard with Mark breaking up with her because of it and she only underlines the "I love you" part, leading to her writing "He loves me! 💓" on the bottom, completly ignoring the rest. (She only sees what she wants to see.) To sum it up, he broke up with her and she didn't want to see it, she only wanted to see the part that says he loves her. It's stated that she has a mental disorder, I think psychosis.
It'd be creepier if they made the AI able to know where you're hiding if there's a drawer or cabinet nearby you left open so you have to remember to close them before hiding.

Daz, the guy your playing as didn't actually cheat on the ex! It says in the game that her mental health started to deteriorate a year earlier and she began stalking / harrasing his friends and family. As a result, there's a certain postcard with Mark breaking up with her because of it and she only underlines the "I love you" part, leading to her writing "He loves me! 💓" on the bottom, completly ignoring the rest. (She only sees what she wants to see.)
To sum it up, he broke up with her and she didn't want to see it, she only wanted to see the part that says he loves her. It's stated that she has a mental disorder, I think psychosis.
