Friggin' Red Rising. Literally feels like I am reading a Spark Notes or abridged version of a larger book. All the training, character development happens off page and we just go from melodramatic to melodramatic moment and I am like...ok and...who cares? Friggin Jasad Heir lolol
YES! that's exactly it, it has everything I SHOULF love but it just doesn't and I wan it to!! like give me the full story and make me CARE about these characters in Red Rising... and yeah.. you warned me and were not wrong on Jasad Heir.
Great video Jessi! I’m so torn on the Red Rising series lol. Readers are so divided about it. I haven’t seen Hot Fuzz. I’ve only seen Simon Pegg in Star Trek and Mission Impossible lol.
I would say give Red Rising a try, it is super well loved, and I liked it just not enough that I really care to continue. And omg watch Hot Fuzz and Sean of the Dead lol. Simon Peg is no lie a HUGE reason I was all in on watching the Star Trek movies because I just love him.
i don't blame you for your red rising decision HAHA it took me until the last book in the initial trilogy to actually like it, and honestly if you're not feeling it it's not worth your time LMAO I LOVED HOW NESS IN CITY OF NIGHTMARES WAS SO IN DENIAL ABOUT THE CULT
I keep going back and forth on Red Rising, I think I will still unhaul but I may listen to the 3rd book on Audio from the library at some point just to complete it. and OMG the best part of City of Nightmares was the cult denial lol
I am glad that none of these were still on my radar, lol. Bummer about Red Rising though, I personally enjoy the drama of it so much haha. And the sequel books are absolutely oustanding. But more power to you, good for cutting your losses! Hope you have less duds this year 🥰
I can’t get into red rising either! After I already have up on it my husband bought me the first book again 🤣 I’ve never tried reading the physical book tho. So I’m going to give it a second chance try to annotate it
haha I read the first book physically and the 2nd on audio, neither were bad per say but I just didn't love them.. I may still try book 3 on audio from the library one day though.
Here's my dnf books Our missing hearts by celeste ng Hyperion by dan Simmons Tales of the flower bride My worst books Normal people by sally Rooney Misrule by heather walter sequel to malice End of watch by Stephen king The reunion by kayla Olsen Poster girl by veronica roth The flatshare by beth o'Leary Chain of iron and gold
I wasn't a big fan of Mexican Gothic either. I think the problem may have been that I'm just not into the Gothic genre in general, because I've read a few of Shirley Jackson's books and they also weren't my cup of tea.

I feel like Red Rising should have been for me, it was like everything I should love in a Space book but for some reason it just didnt land.
@@TheBookishMom And that is okay! Good on you for cutting your losses honestly!

Oh no for Poster Girl, I have been debating picking that one up since it has a really cool concept. what was it that ruined it for you?
@@TheBookishMom I didn't connect with the book for some reason I couldn't like this book I hope you have a better time if and when you read it
