  • SORRY FOR ALL THE UMMMMM's.
    If this bike is your dream bike more power to you - But for me it was gutless honestly felt like a slightly quicker version of my very first bike (2011 ninja 400) MASSIVE dead spots in the rpm's, very poor build quality compared to all the Japanese brands, overpriced and rattily. Hell the rear pegs rattled like a Childs toy and trust me they were tight. The bike had the worst fit and finish. I was blown away with how cheap the dash and entire bike felt personally, Half of the bike was wrapped black cheap plastic. but its all subjective and this is just my opinion.
    Have a blessed day.

    So basically:
    1) Check engine light error which was not caused by anything... reset by dealer
    2) A fork seal was leaking on a part not made by Aprilia and fixable under warranty
    3) Supply chain issue which literally Every. Single. Company. Is having.
    4) Third hand stories of isolated events (engine recall has fixed the majority of these and is no longer an issue)
    5) Personal preferences
    Also, it's not jerky, but even if it was, it has a throttle response adjustment. Doesn't affect horsepower, it affects the mapping of the throttle to make it easier to apply... like in stop and go traffic. Also, a loose chain can cause jerkiness.

    I've owned 15 bikes and test ridden many others (including the MT-09) and this is probably the best bike I have ever owned. Brilliant for road use, very hard to beat in terms of pure riding pleasure. They nearly all suffer from a squeaky rear brake for the first 1,000 ish kms, but it sorts itself out. Factory version with a few extra bhp and different gearing is even better. My verdict: buy one!

    Hi RSK. Thank you for your video.
    I’m a perfectly happy rider of a RS660 for 18 months, with no failure nor trouble at all !
    I find this bike is great, especially in the small curves on hilly roads in my region(south of France).
    The shifter is astounding, handling easy, torque available at low RPM.
    You can ride it fast or quietly, rather confortable for a sportsbike.
    The only real drawback for me is the rear suspension : cheap, sluggish, unadjustable in hydraulic… this is the only part I changed quickly for a local manufacturer (EMC, France)… and now, I have my perfect bike !!!!

    Hit the one year mark coming up on 6k with my 2021 Tuono 660. After a few months I found a little oil leak that was so small that if it were not for dust sticking to it, it would not have been seen. Fixed by the dealer in less than an hour and other than that the bike has been perfect. The Tuono 660 is a very comfortable bike with ample power. It handles very well and mine has been very dependable. Also, the dealership I work with has all the add-on parts you mentioned (IMU, Quick Shifter, even an exhaust with a tune) in stock. I do find it odd how you trash the bike and then admit you are not a fan of the Twin. Why did you buy a twin? Then you (at 3:16) say it's a jerky bike at low RPMs, like un-ridable, then you rant on and on. Then you say, but besides that, it handles great, it has great breaks, flickable etc. I also noticed the chicken strips are quite small on your bike. After listening to this video one would deduce that the problem with this particular bike is the squishy part on the top.
    Truth. You made a mistake in your purchase of the bike and made a video to trash the bike to convince yourself that the bike is so bad you are willing to take a loss to get a different bike. This was a very unnecessary video. Maybe you are married and are trying to get your wife to "allow" you to trade in the Aprilia for a different bike. A man just says well that is not what I wanted, that was a mistake, and he sucks up the loss, buys what he wants. I bought a Honda 650L and after about 6 moths I realized I don't like riding in the dirt. I bought my Aprilia and the Honda sat for months. Sold the Honda with less than a year of ownership and lost over $3K just to get it out of my garage. Some mistakes, Ya just suck it up.

    1) Engine check light - just calibration of crankshaft sensor, 5 minutes work in service
    2) leaking fork, it is Kayaba, can happen to any KYB equipped bike
    3) in low rpms absolute ok, fueling is smooth, I have no problem riding my 660 in low speeds and RPM, there is a switch, you can set MODE Commute and then throttle response is velvet smooth, in other modes it is up to your wrist-feel
    4) quickshifter delay, all manufacturers have logistics problems nowadays, I ordered my Tuono with QS and they delivered it with it
    I think you bought wrong bike for your needs without proper test ride and longer decision making so I understand you try to find as many negatives as possible. My bike had only engine check light issue, they calibrated it during 1000 km first service and since then it is the most fun to ride bike I have ever ridden. Enjoy your Yamaha, I heard a lot of stories from my friends with Yamaha issues. ;-) Peace

    As an owner of a Tuono 660 for 1 year, I can say this bike is legit. Yeah sure it’s not a platform that’s been available for that long, so things will pop up hear and there that need to get taken care of, but nothing out of the ordinary from any other brand new platform.

    Coming from a 2021 MT10 (which sadly some bastards stole a few months back), i can wholeheartedly say that the tuono 660 was the smoothest commuter i have ever ridden. Even smoother than the MT10 i owned. Apart from some engines that were recalled and an oil nut issue, which was also recalled, this is so far one of the most reliable middleweights in the market. Sure you ve had bad luck and there is bad blood between you and the brand but bro there are very few bikes that match the character and pose of the 660, and all of them have a much higher pricetag.

    I just test rode a Tuono 660. Only thing wrong with it was the front had a weird sound like crumpling aluminum foil when the engine was under load. I didn't find it jerky at all in commute mode (throttle mode 3). I did find it jerky in dynamic (throttle mode 2 & 1). The MT07/09 I had previously wasn't nearly as good with the suspension, comfort, brakes, or much of anything else. It did have a nice engine but prefer the 660's engine. Sorry you had a bad experience. It definitely leaves a bad taste and don't blame you for going a different direction. Hopefully the next bike is issue free as you'll need to switch again.

    I was expecting a list of catastrophic issues in this video, but as far as I can tell the only real issue was an engine light that was reset by the dealer on your first service - very common on brand new bikes. The rest are just some 'horror stories' that you read somewhere on the web.
    Oh well if you just need an excuse to buy a 900cc, that's fine, but there is no reason to bash the Aprilia, which is a fantastic bike with top shelf components and a class leading engine.
    BTW, I have owned an MT-09 first series, and I sold it after two weeks. Hard to explain, but after the initial instant power excitement, you realise that this type of bike is kind of pointless - useless around corners due to pogo stick suspensions and dumb seating position. Only makes sense if you want to open the gas on a straigh road and pop up wheelies.

    I have an MT09 and I can safely say that the MT platform once you ride it as a street bike it is just such a great bike. I think you are being unfair on the RS660 - for a start it’s a twin - and owning a twin you are just explaining jerkiness which is completely relevant to the attributes associated to a twin and you’ve also gone from basically a 900 triple to a 660cc and lost a cylinder. They are totally different animals. Italian bikes always have those Nuances of running the bike in for a period and being a new generation of bike I’m sure there would be teething issues.
    The MT platform has just set a street riding bar that is hard to compete with and totally understandable to go back to something that feels right!

    I love my Tuono 660 but it blew the coolant gasket and now after "repairs" it's leaking. Has anyone experienced this? I also got the check engine light on after 800 km; the dealership never explained why this happens other than to say that it's a "non-issue".

    • @Penetrantify
      @Penetrantify ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're talking about the little cooling pump on the lower leftside (if sitting on top) I've had this issue with my Tuono 660 too. It always had a little drop on it's outlet and after getting warm it started slowly leaking out of the outlet and the sealing ring between the pump and block. Dealer changed the pump through warranty - and then the whole engine got changed after I bought one of those 700 bikes 2 years ago... =D Never had it leaking with the second engine yet. BUT: sometimes after a ride in really hot conditions especially on short travel it will spill a little bit out after turning off the engine, but thats normal I guess.
      FYI: a short list which parts I also received through the warranty:
      - completely new bike, since the first one arrived sideways in its box at the dealers place
      - waterpump
      - engine
      (- theoretically right mirror, since the right one just spontaneously bonked me to show me my suprised face at around 230 :D But I just bought others after that incident...)
      - frontbrake (= new discs + pads - I recognized that one brake disc got a bit lose on its floaters, but honestly don't ask me how or why :D new discs just doing perfectly fine)
      - exhaust (yeah, seems if you hit average consumption above 5,1l/km and travel a lot ... with "higher speeds" you migth get the exhaust to it's end in under 20k km... :D)
      - clutch sensor, after a weird non-reproducible error ("red R" in bottom right corner -> inverted shifting warning :D) which sometimes spontaneously just turned off Q(D)S for no reason after shifting

    I own a 2021 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100, and I have the motorcicle for about 8 months, the motorcicle was at the deler today, the whole day, because the sparks plugs seals need to be replace, the engine waas leaking oil, a lot of oil. Also the fuel sender was damage, gas light was blinking and the fuel gage not working. The mortorcycle is gorgeous, it have a lot of power, fast, etc. but if you look over the Internet you are going to find out this issues are pretty common.

    pffft..I have read sooo many negative reviews about the Ap's. Glad I checked on them before I purchased the Z900. From below: "but as far as I can tell the only real issue was an engine light that was reset by the dealer on your first service - very common on brand new bikes. " Very Untrue. I have owned 3 brand-new bikes and I have never had an engine light come on.

    We own 5 Tuono's 1 from all 4 Generations 2x Gen2's. I'd ordered an RS660 when they where announced at ICMA but due to the 2+ year delay I got a KTM 790 Duke then a 890 Duke R - I felt the 660 would've been a step backwards so I got a '21 Tuono V4 1100 RR instead.

    • @NudaMan
      @NudaMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t say a step backwards per say, more of “I don’t need 150+ hp for the street” I have had 2 liter bikes and they are cool and all but I can’t use full throttle on the street… so I’m going for a Tuono 660 Factory and I’ve considered the 890 Duke R but ehhhh I bought 1 Ktm and I don’t ever want to buy another

    I was one of the first owners in the uk of a black RS 660. It was recalled for a full engine replacement. Due to a faulty cam shaft I think.
    Was annoyed as it needed running in again. But other than that's its mint. It's my 4th bike so only done 2k miles on it, in a year. But its not had any other issues

    Wow, you're the only person that has said that the fueling is so bad that it's unridable at low speeds. Also considering an MT-09 but no one has one in stock. I did ride a friends Tracer 9 and it was OK, but kinda bland honestly. Hoping the MT is more exciting.

      Honestly i didn't had any trouble for the month i had it on loaner... It was great and i did use it in belgium for a month. joy to ride everyday and the 270° shaft is sounding awesome. Its way smoother in low rpm compare to MT07 tbh... so... yeah. Don't know what trouble he had. Also... anti stall clutch make it easy. Going then on CB650R was meh... stall few time at red light ^^' then set my clutch XD

    Quite funny people here or should I say just a few complaining about parts and how long they take. You buy a bike built in Italy complaining of part delays when buying did you not consider that!! To many really experienced riders who have done reviews on this and the RS saying how good of a bike it is, I’m no fan of a twin I’m an in-line four man but I have to say it sounds amazing. I would have went with the RS over this as it gets everything like the quick shifter as standard but the tourno it’s an add on. I’ll say it again think about where the bikes from, research the hell out of it, test ride it…..did you even test ride it? I’m all about reviews but this is nothing but someone whining and moaning because it’s not quite for him….waste of media space.
    One last thing whining and moaning about a bike from someone who doesn’t even wear the right protective gear and just a T Shirt!!! a jerky bike isn’t to do with the bike it means you are a poor rider it’s that simple. Saying you miss the MT09 straight away tells me you didn’t want this from the start. So many points that tells me you had no interest in the bike from the start. The quick shifter comment if you had research the bike you should have ordered it as an extra because it’s standard on the RS.

    Its a shame you fell out with it so soon after buying. I have had the Tuono 660 factory for a couple of months, and done 2200 miles on it. Squeaky back brake is going away and so far had no real issues with it. The chain started making noise, shortly after a good clean and lube. The rollers sound like there is no grease inside anymore. I have been riding in 30 degree c here and there and maybe it has shed some, although the o rings are all looking good. Cleaned and re lubed today, so see how I get on. The quick shifter down has caused me a few issues from 3rd to 2nd, but could be my technique needs improving, albeit ive made sure the throttle was shut before shifting. All in all I love the bike, but ive only ever had Aprilia’s so Ive not got anything to compare too. Hope your new ride is more suited than the 660.

    • @NudaMan
      @NudaMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the Quickshifter your supposed to go thru the gears with the throttle open (no clutch needed) you are riding the bike wrong lol

    • @andycampbell2821
      @andycampbell2821 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NudaMan agree the throttle can be full open changing up, but has to be shut changing down. If the throttle is not fully shut changing down it does not want to shift. As you know you would not want the throttle open changing down anyway. The blipper does its job ok when the throttle is shut.

Back in the dealer for another 4 weeks waiting for a part from Italy...and still no sign of part, on top of that I waited 6 months for the imu upgrade 🙄🙄🙄 beautiful looking bike and fantastic to ride.... But too unrealible 👍

    I have the RS 660. Dude it sounds like your dealer was giving you shit support and trying to cheap out. Right from the moment you mentioned that they wanted you to keep riding on a check engine light. I've ridden tons of motorcycles, sport bikes in particular. This bike is not jerky in comparison to other bikes. You wanna see jerky??? Go ride a ninja 650. I'm sorry your experience was not great. But it really sounds like your deal support was absolute trash.

  • @VFactory-vl5fi
    @VFactory-vl5fi ปีที่แล้ว

    Those issues are bad. As long as the dealer has fixed them.
    I cannot agree with you in terms of how the bike is unusable down low. It’s a parallel twin. It’s got character but it’s not known to be particularly lumpy. No one has reported these issues on all the reviews.
    You are probably best suited to a smoother engine like inline 3’s and 4’s.

    I've always wanted to buy the Aprilia Tuono 660 but I stayed with my FZ-07. I don't blame you for staying with Japanese bikes. Unless you have the money and patience or get lucky, reliability will always be an issue with European bikes including BMW. Parts are more expensive and service is more expensive as many mechanics won't touch a European bike.
