Two women who are part of the original Cupid's owners' family still own the one in Winnetka as well as a location in Simi Valley. These are the only ones left I think. The one in Simi serves beer! They also have Cupid's t shirts I have eaten at all the old Cupids. The one in Simi is good but the best one to me was the one at CSUN. Close second was the one on Victory near Van Buys Blvd.
I grew up in the San Fernando Valley in the 70s and 80s. I went to Chatsworth high school. The valley was the most amazing place to grow up. Your videos take me right back to my childhood. Shakey's pizza, Pioneer chicken, Du Pars, Sir Georges smorgasbord, Bobs big boy. H Salt fish n chips. The Northridge mall was my hang out. I moved out of the valley in 1997. I do go back every year or so to visit my father, who still lives there. First stop on the way home from the airport...Cupids hotdogs, and go next-door for Daglas fries. Simpler times. Boy has the San Fernando Valley changed. Amazing memories thank you
I moved to El Paso, Texas, it’s been almost 1 years since now. I am beyond homesick for the 818 ! 😭 I am so happy seeing all your videos …I know the valley like the back of my hand! The valley is & will always be my HOME! Keep posting more vids! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Took my son to Universal studios last March for his birthday. We stayed at the Garland Hotel and we walked a few blocks to see the Brady Bunch house. Nice shirt, I use to listen the Dead Milkmen when I started skating back in 1988, 89.
Grew up in the San Fernando Valley. 1955 to 1980. Prime times for the valley. It was wonderful. That Cupids is on the corner of Quakertown Ave. and Vanowen St. I lived at 6731 Quakertown just two houses down from Cupids. I can’t tell you how many yummy dogs me and my friends had. Man I miss those dogs. Anyone remember Daglas burgers next door? Gawd they were good. Love this series. Thanks.
I got a couple Halloween costumes from Sav-on as well. My mom used to work at the Sav-On on National and Sepulveda in Los Angeles. We spent hours on the Halloween aisle me and my sister. Nothing but good memories.
My husband and I used to go to Cupids like once a month when we lived in California city. My dad used to live not far from there Oakdale and Sherman way. But we just moved to Clinton MO July 28th . Sending hugs to you and your family. Canoga bowl we would go there. 73 here Clinton MO now 30
I went there with my dad several times. He had an old white Volkswagen van we would go there in. I think they had those pink cement benches there and a couple tables. I remember feeding hotdog bun pieces to the sparrows sometimes
Man you do an amazing job on explaining each location ! came across your channel by chance, and I am hooked !! subscribed and thumbs up ! keep up the awesome work !
As someone who grew up in the valley, the last time I had Cupids was at that location. I was back in town in my early 20s for a funeral and we stopped off there after the service and the chili dogs made everyone feel better. Sad to see it closed. I can't remember where it was but we also used to go to Mike's Pizza all the time with the sawdust on the floors and amazing garlic rolls. Did you ever go there, Kurt?
Good stuff man! I didn’t growl up in the Valley (where I live now for over 20 yrs.) But I did grow up in Pasadena in the 80’s and had a blast during Halloween. Cheers! 🎃
Another great video! Thanks man! Epic pics of you with the Thriller Wolf mask! I just had a flashback of how in the 80’s, the adults would actually rent costumes from costume stores. One year my Dad was “Big Bird” from Sesame Street. Kids lost their mind when he answered the door and gave them candy as Big Bird. BTW… recently watched “They Call Me Bruce”… it looks like it was filmed throughout the valley. Figured I’d mention in case you were in the hunt for another movie to showcase the locations 🤙
I was 15 when I worked at Wendy's by Magic Mountain "word Up" was super popular song at the time. Some great times. I feel my age... I just don't act it
I live in a suburb of Montreal Canada, and this entire area is alive with Halloween every year. Childhood never leaves, so long as the adults keep it going...#keephalloweenalive
I love your videos, I moved to Van Nuys in 1999 from burbank. I had a bail bonds business from 2000 to 2015 about 2 blocks from that Cupid's that used to be on victory and tyrone. That place was good back in the day. I still live in Van Nuys, and have heard some great stories about the San Fernando valley in the 70s and 80s
Not Halloween related but an update...the old kmart Sherman way/north holywood is morphing into a Tesla place. I believe it will replace the very tiny one off of Havenhurst.
Gel Effects. Hell yeh. I remember those. I remember fake blood coming in toothpaste type tube, which was also gel-like. You could make good-looking gore with it. I lusted for switchblade comb forever before I got one when I was little. Lol.
They really don't do those pop up haunted houses anymore like they did in the 90's. They used to be everywhere. Also, that makeup you would put in the microwave, they used to sell at drug stores also in the Halloween section.
It was my health clinic growing up and a lot for the local kids. Booster and tetanus shots. I knew it was in the movie but didn't know it was a hard to find location. I only knew because I always recognized the building where I went to get shots and cried. I miss Malibu castle that was off the 170 and and vanowen. Remember when it had a water slide park?
So much classic Americana is disappearing. It’s happening in New York as well. So many great locations are gone. And they get replaced with nothing half the time.
I don't have any stories on cupids but a friend of mine worked at Tommys (Sherman way?) And told me about the chill. It was a just add more scraps and left overs until the pan crawled away. 🤢🤮 Savons morphed into Osco ( not costco) at one point back to savons or CVS
@ Resesa and Saticoy, you went by there in a video about a year ago. Homeplate Burger in an A Frame building used to be there. It was a smog check when it was fenced off and set for demo. Has that building been demolished, yet?
I’m pretty sure Carol’s car is permanent at least cause I delivered a food order across the street from that house about 3 months ago and it was parked there.
You did filming locations for one of my favorite 80s movie: Secret Admirer. Could you, if you haven't already, do filming locations for another 80s classic: Some Kind of Wonderful?
the valley is shot..... nothing to do for fun really....just shop and eat.....and street take overs and exhaust pops every night and high speed crashes every week..... fun times.!!!
LOVE OLD CARS ,, THERE AWSOME !!! I SAW THAT THEY USED TWO BRADY BUNCH HOUSES BECAUSE THE OWNER AT THIS HOUSE THE OLD LADY THAT OWNED IT BEFORE SHE SAID NO MORE FILMING AROUND THE HOUSE ,,,..SO FOR THE BRADY BUNCH MOVIE THEY FOUND ONE THAT LOOKED VERY MUCH THE SAME THE OUTSIDE NOT SURE WHERE IT IS ,,THX.???? CHECK IT OUT..CALL THE GLENDALE HEALTH CENTER ,, AND ASK WAS THERE A LIGHT GREEN BUILDING THERE AND FILMING OF PEE-WEE..?? EVERYONE ALWAYS WANTS TO KILL HISTORY-- CUPIDS HOT DOGS..
Rest In Peace Cupids Hot Dogs Northridge CA 1964 - 2023
Putting the cars outside the Brady Bunch house is brilliant. Bravo to the new owners

9:37 Noooo! I would stop by here on my way home from Prairie Street Elementary as a kid. So sad!

Your location-finding skills are off the chart!
Great stuff! Memories are the best! I still come down the Valley and reminisce as well!

The Dead Milkmen shirt. I love Kurt’s gear.
I rocked that same shirt for EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw them in the 80s at Safari Sam’s in Huntington Beach. It’s now the surf museum
Here's a story... Of a man named Kurt. 🎶 Keep em coming. 👍
Luv your channel Kurt ty for keeping the 80s alive and well!
This video has made my weekend 😊
I hope the Cupid's neon signs are being saved.
So glad you document these filming and nostalgia locations!
Always enjoy these videos

Nothing like Halloween in the San Fernando Valley 😎
Nice! Love those videos!
The werewolf mask was awesome! ❤❤🎉

I like your Spooky Intro.I miss Halloween in the 80s in the Santa Clarita Valley. 🦇 🎃 🦇 🧛♂️
Thanks for all the video's
I've been out to see the Brady Bunch house, but I need to go out and see the cars now. The episode with Jackie Cooper was quite memorable!
The almost a date story was sweet!
"Oh, Mike..."
I love your stuff brother!
go sk8
I myself have never purchased anything from Magic Emporium, but I had a couple friends that did buy gags and costume props from there.
I think my cousin may have worked at that particular Save-On in the mid 80s.

Very cool...right now I live off Tyrone and Vanowen
I never ate there, but i use to live around the corner from that Cupid's location, at Lindley and Devonshire
I was in Utero in the 80s at Disneyland before I had a churro
October in the valley has felt like July
The valley, etc CA no longer the same since 1999!!!!😢
Happy Halloween everyone! 👻
You as well!
It gets scorching hot the in the Valley!!
Got my name right (grant miterko) and now my kids think I’m a celeb 🤣🤣🤣
Not Halloween related but an update...the old kmart Sherman way/north holywood is morphing into a Tesla place. I believe it will replace the very tiny one off of Havenhurst.
Don't forget to do Six Flags Fright Fest Extreme video also Sav-On drugs still exists inside the Albertsons 👍🎃📲

Thanks for the shoutout! 👍
For sure! Thanks for the support
shopped at magic emporium all the time
Lived on nestle across from the savon

I was taken to horror nights in 1998 and was desensitized as a 9 year old 😂
I believe theres still a cupids on topanga blvd? Not an original location , but still a cupids. Maybe its been cloaed down now too? 😢
Must try, go to Cupids on Vannowen but get just the Chili and take it over to Daglass and put it on frys.
Legendary places should be landmark instead of destroying

Have you been back to the promenade mall? Have they actually started tearing down buildings?
Maybe a month or 2 ago. I'll check again soon.

@21:00 Have you ever eaten at Firehouse Cafe across the street?

Cupid's is THE BEST
the valley is shot..... nothing to do for fun really....just shop and eat.....and street take overs and exhaust pops every night and high speed crashes every week..... fun times.!!!
There used to be a Cupid's in Simi Valley. Is it still there?
Yes it's still there and open for business!
@@pobstrel great to hear!!!
Did you get a new camera? Quality looks great. Thanks as always!
CA. is like florida 100 every day
If only you could ask to keep the Cupid's sign....
Kurt you haven’t changed a bit from your kid pictures 😂
Does anybody remember Law Dogs?
Yeah, the attorney owner would dispense free legal advice on a certain day, pretty cool
@@kburton77 yeah that was cool. Like on Tuesday nights I believe. He did that at the Sherman Way location, not the Woodman location.
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Makes more videos your memories of the San Francisco valley

I agree, triple digit weather in mid October is ridiculous! Global warming? Naaaaah
