Willow's entrance was so obviously a joke, I really don't understand why anyone is taking it seriously like girl it said "angle"
And Kornbread couldn't get off that weak line about Willow's wedges, which she clearly thought was devastating shade. Willow's wit is sly, subtle and so smart, which I think is why so many queens don't get it or like it. If you'r paying attention, it's all there and it's a gag.

It's very clear that willow was dressed as Chloe from bratz. It's a direct refference for one of her outfits, the shoes are spot on, the plastic hair, the hat and of course the angel. As a Y2k kid who owned bratz, that is why I adored that look.
I didn't have a single Bratz doll but immediately got the reference, really like Wilow Pillow!
Clear to whooooo? The idea was there but the execution wasn’t! I had no idea she was going for bratz doll, her makeup and hair was simple and her lips weren’t even over lined. She gave me Paris Hilton. If you’re gonna “cosplay” for your entrance look you better make sure everyone in the audience is gonna get it not just a few! And drag it up she gave me chapsticks, eye linear and an outfit from dollar tree
Yes! That was my immediate thought as well. I do agree with Taj Simms that it could have been clearer, her makeup didn't give me obvious Bratz vibes, and maybe pushed a little bit further, but I immediately saw it as a Chloe reference.

Judging by June's look, she also wanted to be comfy, but you could tell there was no thought or theme going into the look. No one getting Willow’s entrance look is a such a bummer. To me it was genius! It was irreverent and referential and i totally understand the kind of queen she is now. These queens shouldn’t have to spend stacks on designer outfits to do drag. It was camp and it was the moment.

I loved Willow’s look. She was telling a story with it and it was hilarious and giving 2000 Paris Hilton
Trinity is 36 and she is scared that the whole cast is very young. Yes, older queens are not represented anymore, and to be honest 36 is not even remotely "old". Only five queens over 40 were cast for the show. FIVE. Tempest was the first out, Tamisha and Charlie were booted too soon, Darienne almost made it to the end but it was clear they were never going to crown her and Chad thankfully won. However, on a regular season, older queens have absolutely NO CHANCE of winning. What the hell is going on?
If they were to choose one it has to be one that translates to the younger audience. I'm very sure they do test groups and gage audience reaction to see who would be the best choice for the win, if you didn't know RuPaul may choose them, but they have to be cleared by the network to appear on the network.
There also may be a health issue thing, younger queens are more likely to be able to endure the longer work hours
It's also a matter of how many older queens try out for the show? They are also the ones with the most to lose if they have a bad showing.

Yeah I’m bummed that Orion was first out, I loved her interviews from Meet the Queens and was excited for her don’t give a damn attitude and aesthetic.
The promo for this season said every queen “may” get a chance to come back with a special chocolate bar, Willy wonka style so don’t count her out just yet !
I think Orion comes back! In the trailer they have 14 candy bars for every single queen so I'm assuming this is a fake out! (Or at least I hope so bc I'm obsessed with her already)
She reminded me of an illustration you’d see in a Dr Seuss book, I thought it was cute
completely agree, her look was clearly a nod to retro-futurism with the hair, color story, and balls. I personally enjoyed it but I get why they don't understand it, retrofuturism is a pretty niche aesthetic.
Willow’s talent was about suicide. She said that having a chronic illness has resulted in her dealing with depression. Rupaul understood she was making a joke out of suicide which is a very serious topic. That is why she enjoyed it.
Her piece was titled - Self-care in quarantine. Apparently it’s about how we behaved during covid eventually losing our minds. It also has subtle references to the cult-classic Gummo (the bathtub scene).

It's weird that so many queens didn't seem to get that Willow's entrance look was a character and a concept thing. It was so outlandishly in your face that it was funny to watch. They were so close calling her Paris Hilton because it was pretty much that kind of 2000s dumb blonde teen girl but in drag. It was odd that they treated it like it was her actual fashion or something.

LOVED Willow’s performance. Although I got what she was trying to say from her entrance look I just don’t think it really landed that well, especially when you want to make a strong first impression. But her performance was witty and brilliant; using unhealthy coping methods during quarantine while at the same time feeling overwhelmed with depression, anxiety, and thoughts of suicide. She took a difficult topic to talk about and turned it into performance art.
I think she admitted that she specifically didn't want to make a strong first impression. It was a calculated decision and I think it completely worked in her favour because we all were only more impressed by her talent presentation. If people expect the worst then they're never gonna be disappointed. It won't take her to the end, but it's a solid strategy this early in the game.
Seeing this friendship between Trinity and Monet is magical - two icons ❤️
