I think they made a layer and clipped it onto the line art, and then laid down whatever color they had to change it to^^ That’s how I do it, but I could be wrong.

Maybe because my mind jumped to the first time I saw anything connected to Danganronpa, which was (I think, I'm not entirely sure) Ultra Despair Girls, and assumed there was a connection to these characters. As I mentioned, I saw this video before I got into the fandom and the games, likely in December of last year, or January/February of this year. And I'll guess I was more focused on the drawings than the reference sprites, so I couldn't tell the difference then... Thus legit thinking all of the characters were girls. Also maybe because I wasn't aware that there were actually FOUR games, and not just one, as I assumed at first. Quite an interesting thought process behind it, don't you think? 😆

That’s how I do it, but I could be wrong.
I use the “preserve opacity” option on sai and then just color in the lines!!
