This reminds me viscerally of being a small child running loose after hours while sleeping over with my camping troupe at SciWorks. Hearing the deep hum of the machines, the quiet pitpat of my little feet hitting concrete, carrying my pillow the size of my whole body, trying not to laugh too loud with my friends as we "escaped" to be night owls in the halls. This is the sound of freedom, to me. I grew up isolated and heavily monitored, so this kinda white noise just takes me to a place where no scary adults live. Where things are empty, quiet, dark and glowing, and endless. There only existed me and my curiosity, and I was safe from the world. I wish I could spend a few nights sleeping over at a science center again.

One of the reasons this is so soothing and peaceful is that this the sound the umbilical cord makes inside the womb. You heard this noise for 9 months straight when there was no hot or cold, no danger, no hunger, no loneliness. You lived inside your mommy and, regardless of what your relationship with you she had/has, for this 9-month period all you had from her body was unconditional love and protection.
(I'm writing this as my newborn daughter fell asleep in my arms. White noise always helps😊)

The common mistake in rendering star fields for entertainment is to show a dark background with many little bright objects passing. In reality, the cosmic panorama beyond our atmosphere would be crammed with abundant stars and galaxies, and they would not appear to move.

The white noise is calming but does anyone else hear talking every once in awhile in the background? I was listening to this in my headphones and woke up then sat bolt upright for a moment, took my earphones out and listened. I believe it was the video, because all of my roomates are at work and I am home alone. I just managed to fall asleep and heard talking and got scared. I am trying to go back to sleep cause I have to get up for work today at 10.

I used to daydream about this exact thing all the time. Sometimes, when I'm really, really tired, I still pretend my bed is floating through space like this, and it gives me the most peaceful sleep.
This is a new favorite. The bass tones don't click or clip my speakers like other videos, it slightly changes over time, and there's occasionally some background chatter and noises that make it feel that much more real. I love it!

When I was a kid and watched Star Trek I was always mind-blown that the Star Ship Enterprise could travel so fast that stars would zoom by! Then I got older and realized it was made with effects and cameras. I was kinda disappointed about that discovery tbh, haha.

I used to fantasize what it would be like sleeping on the Star Ship Enterprise - but this will do for now.
I realize by the time of TNG they had perfected forcefields, but I think I would be too afraid to sleep in any quarters that had a "window". Failsafes or not, enough damage or power loss and your bedroom is exposed to vacuum.
This is the most never boring track I've ever heard in my entire life.

In order for stars to be actually moving by the ship it would have to be going extremely fast. For perspective, The nearest star is 4 light years away. To move the night sky around you, you would have to be going many orders of magnitude faster than the speed of light.

Then when a day is over they will move to the next and the next until they have become a powerful species that have learned to live in space and watch the outside cosmos move around them

I like the beginning. I watch these to sleep to. The voices made me try to concentrate on hearing what they were saying. It pulled me back into reality.
