I'm not exactly a fan of Unite Round tho, this reducing a home game for some clubs, other than this fantastic derby the attendance for other games were relatively low. or maybe I just didn't get the idea IDK
A brilliant Australian football derby in all its glory. 30k+ loud viewed an energetic end to end game with a bit of everything. A show piece of what Australian football can aspire to be, Athleticism, energy, determination, sprinkled with good goals and some good parts of football and some shit parts of football. Embrace what we are I say, we aren’t Spain tiki taka and we aren’t going to be. But we are animals, we have big hearts, and big balls and can play a bit too. Bring more of this on and for fuck sake someone get themselves into the media so football can actually infiltrate it and be broadcast around the country and someone else get into the government side and lift the fucking funding for the beautiful game in this country. The sport could simply flourish with these 2 backings not to mention the women’s game leading the charge here.
I reckon we need to establish a sustainable model for the sport, and not depend on government. We will have that as it grows and we get a second division, so small clubs can sell players to big clubs who sell internationally. A proper pyramid with money flowing down helps the grass roots.
@ the second division is 100% the way forward. But irrespective you look at other sports and it’s a joke the amount of support they gain from the major national media outlets and the governments funding of such sport, meanwhile ‘soccer’ in Australia, the highest participated sport being left out to dry.. I think the countries federation is finally catching on that we simply do not train nor play enough games in this country. That is one very very simple yet huge downfall that can be simply changed in this country for one

If you ever useless, just watch A-league referees botch their jobs for 90 minutes.
For once I actually thoughts the refereeing was pretty much perfect. As perfect as a human can be anyway i.e. a few minor calls going the wrong way or missed cards etc
this was the one game this year where the ref will be perfect surprising how refs love to give sydney fc red cards for fun but they'll never be another game this year that will be officiated this well
