hey, nice video. I just purchase the exactly same machine, and so far, I´m very happy with it. Still wrestling with the RDworks though. One tip from my experience: The reason that the laser was unable to cut through totally down on the laser bed, is not due to glue or imperfections on the plywood, but because your laser bed, got a slight offset levelling in relation to the lens. In another words, your laser goes out of focus on the lower part of the bed. you should try to use the focus key, and measure the distance from the lens, on the top of the bed, and on the bottom, and see if the distance is the same... the way to fix it, is remove the belt of the Z axis, and align the 4 " screws" that move the axis up and down. A little bit of work though. I had to go through removing the legs, in order to fit my machine on my garden cabana, and for that, I had to remove the belt and stepper motor of the Z axis. Well, good luck, and I hope my tip, was helpful for you, and your viewers that might read this comment. Have a good one.
very similar to aligning the bed of a 3d printer years ago I was responsible for a 100 watt corad laser and now I remember some of the problems we had especially after we moved it to a new building 10 miles away .
Glad it seems to work for you. I had one very similar via Ebay direct from China at 90 watts. It was nothing but headaches, blown power supplies & fuses due to poor wiring, and overall horrid support. never again.
thanks was wondering if its worth it, all the videos say how great they are for the money but if its always breaking then how much do you really save. Thanks.
Got anymore showing cutting out ribs and formers from Balsa? I am working on a decision to purchase an 80W version of this Chaser for creating parts for several different Warbirds, in giant scale. One thing to note about the uncut parts in that plywood. Thickness of that type of ply varies a bit, especially in humid conditions, so it is difficult at times to get 100% prefect cuts without slowing down, or upping the power, and then risk burning too much wood in the thinner areas. IE, expected. Would love to see a start to finish of doing a rib or former from layout to finished cut. Oh one more question, why was the cutting backwards from what was displayed?

A very helpful and informative video, thanks for taking the time to make it. I would also be very interested to see what engraving can be done with this machine and what it's like.
I did do a quick video on making an engraved magnet from poplar wood. I'll try to do a more detailed video on engraving soon. th-cam.com/video/EP-1zBikIlg/w-d-xo.html
I've replaced the tube twice now and I'm still running the original power supply. As long as you keep things in spec and match the tube to your power supply it should be fine.
wow pretty cool not bad. I wanted to know how cold does your garage get, i wanted to get a larger laser but I was worried about condensation issue with the machine being outside in the garage, because it gets cold and i cant keep the garage heated. Thanks
I run a small heater in there during the winter to keep it moderate. It never gets below freezing but it has been around 40 during the coldest weeks. I tend to not work out there those deep cold weeks of the winter as it takes too much to warm it up for just a couple hours of work.
How is this machine holding up? I am looking at OMtech 60 or 80 watt machine, i was originally looking at a thunder laser, but its hard to not take these into consideration at the price point.
The laser is still going strong. I've replaced a couple of switches and a proximity sensor. I'm about to swap out the laser tube for a new one and will make a video on that. Perhaps I should do an overall update on the laser now that I've been using it for over 5 years. From what I've seen OMTech has some good support and some better features from the random eBay lasers. They would be on my list of people to look at for a new machine if I was in the market today.
Luckily my shop has never reached freezing temps so far. It’s well insulated and I run a small electric oil filled radiator near the laser during the winter to keep temps at 40f or above. I’ve not had any issues with the laser during that time. I do switch out to straight water in the spring as it’s good to swap your water every 6 months or so.
I am looking at purchasing pretty much the same machine. I will be running it in my garage. My garage is not heated the temps can get down to -10c / 14f. Do you think this will be an issue? Thanks!
Freezing temps will be a concern as the machine is liquid cooled. You could add a sealed reservoir with an aquarium heater in it to keep the water from freezing and you'd want to keep the water pump moving the water through the system. My shop is insulated and I run a small jester to keep the temps above 40f while I'm not in the shop during winter.
Hi, I have a Chinese laser as well, but I need some advice on filling the laser. I am from a tiny island in the Caribbean and there is not much of these in my country at all..perhaps, Im the only one in my area so I can't seek advice. But when I fill the laser, I'm always getting bubbles in these and can't get them out. When I do sort it and use the laser for a while, and I open up to check the laser, I see millions of tiny bubbles formed and I always get scared to continue and never do. But why have this piece of equipment and not use it. Is the bubble formation normal during operation? So should I continue? I'm scared to crack the laser - all the warnings are saying NO Bubbles - bubbles crack laser. I really need some advice on this - can you advise on this?
One way to get the bubbles out of the tube completely is to orient the tube discharge port upwards. You can loosen just the top clamps holding the tube and carefully rotate it without affecting the alignment. Always use distilled water to prevent the formation of sediment deposits and in colder climates, use a RV type antifreeze mixed with the distilled water to prevent freezing.
My laser is still going strong. I've had to replace the E-Stop button and the primary power switch on the side. I've also upgraded to a CW5000 chiller to make things simple. Other than that it's still working on the same tube and power supply. I'll see about doing a 3 year recap video to give people a longer term impression of this machine. Thanks for stopping by!
*vintauri RC* First of all, I apologize for my English. Good morning. I'm thinking of buying this machine and my question is if you recommend buying it? the use that I will give it is for custom work and work in quantity of cutting and carving. Thank you in advance for your answer.
I still use this machine to this day and I'm very happy with it. You do need to be willing to learn about how to maintain it and tweak it to get the best use from it. The biggest issue is the limited factory support but there are plenty of people online with these machines that are great resources to help troubleshoot any issues that come up.

nice. i have 100 w version and go through lenses much faster than I think I should. People have said i have "wet" air assist, but I put 2 driers on and still ruin lens regularly. I clean lens and mirrors pretty regularly now, but still having problems. Thinking I'm going to add more air. Do you have a pressure regulator? and If so, what pressure do you run? Also, I mostly cut Home Depot 5mm underlayment wondering if the glue in it is not good for the laser? (But I use big exhaust fan, so I don't have a lot of smoke in the chamber) TIA,
In 5+ years of owning this machine, I've only damaged one lens and that was due to water in the air assist set up. I'm currently running a quiet air-compressor with a moisture trap set to 30PSI on the outlet to the laser. As for the material, I've heard of others really liking the 5mm underlayment for cutting but I've never used it. I mostly use B/BB baltic birch sheets from a hardwood distributor. There is always a chance there is something in the glue but if you are using air assist to keep the smoke outside the cone and a good fan to pull the fumes out of the cabinet, it should not be causing you issues. Do your mirrors get dirty fast as well? If so you might need more air movement in the cabinet.
What is the difference between the yellow &black and the red &black cabinet lasers? Other than the colour, of course. I AM buying one. And hope to in the next few days
So it cuts 1/4 inch plywood which is about 6mm thick at 80% power 18mm/sec 60W machine at one turn... impressive (I own a diode laser I can say that :-)
Sometimes it's just the color. I've seen very similar machines in a few color cases. The things to look for are the controller, tube, and motorized Z axis.
Hello Mr Nik . sometimes color have different.Sometimes the power varies, depending on your cutting needs.May I know your cutting requirements to help you confirm? My WhatsApp is +8613127135107. I look forward to contacting you
wife caught me looking at these the other day and saw the price and freaked out - "you're not buying another laser are you!? you just got the other one!" lol - I laughed and said I'm just looking and she said "that's what you said when you were looking at the first one!" - hehehehehe
Haha! That’s pretty funny. My wife often rolls her eyes at my hobby window shopping as well. However she often just tells me to buy it already so I’ll stop talking about it. :)
You mentioned that this laser has been upgraded to a (real?) 60w tube but did you test this wood burning also with the original one? Was it much worse or did you just use slower settings? Also what kinda controller is on this machine? And lastly do you use lightburn with this machine or something else to burn?
I did see a slight improvement over the stock tube that was more than likely a 50w tube. I could still cut the same material with it, but the speeds were about 10% slower. This laser has a Ruida controller on it. I'd have to look to check the exact model.
I have one of these babies in transit arriving the end of next week with the 50W tube. I appreciate all the videos I'm seeing on these lasers. One thought... Can you program your cutting sequence to include a second pass at a faster feed rate to ensure that the cut goes completely through the plywood?
You can setup the file to cut twice on the same path. You would need to have the same vector lines on a second layer and use a separate color to have it re-run over the exact path. It would be best though to manage it in one pass with the right balance of speed and power along with making sure your lens and mirrors are all aligned and clean. It'll take a bit to get your machine dialed in but then you'll know it's limits and how to get the most out of each pass.
@@Vintauri I've been watching videos on these lasers for several weeks learning what these machines are capable of and a guy running a 40 Watt was cutting through 1/4" plywood by running the laser at 40% for multiple passes. He uses a handheld mirror under the work piece to see when the cut has passed completely through, instead of just guessing. The edge lines were barely even browned and easily cleaned up. Look outside what you "expect" the machine to do. I've watched countless people people finishing their work with jigsaws, bandsaws, grinders, and sandpaper reducing the quality of the work when it is completely unnecessary. I am so thrilled to getting one of these machines! You are only limited by your imagination.
I just got my laser engraver. I was reading the manual and it says that the laser tube has to be completely cover in metal to prevent laser radiation exposure. Why is the end piece of your laser made out of plastic? did it came like that?
I have one of these lasers. You mentioned your running at 18mm per second. Bad news, ,your not really running at that speed. These lasers can run fast in a strait line, but around the corners, bends, and curves the speed goes down a ton, but the laser power stays on the same power, resulting in more power in spots than you thought you were getting. Find your lasers top speed around all corners, then turn down the power to match that slower speed, and run at that new slower speed on all jobs. You will get a more consistent edge finish that way.
You need to adjust your min and max power to match the changing speeds around corners. I run my power around 82% to hit 20ma at 18mm/sec but run the min power at about 30% so that the corners do not over burn. This way I don't loose the speed on the job.
@@Vintauri and just like that I have finally figured out what the minimum maximum power settings actually do. I always set them for the same value. Thanks for the tip
Can you make larger size than what i see in that machine? Like if I have a long wood board (let’s say 3x times the size of that board you are cutting, can it work? TIA
I purchase all my Baltic Birch from a hardwood dealer so the quality is fairly consistent. Ocassionally there will be a small spot where there is a patch and extra glue the does not cut well but it's never been a full sheet.
Hello Sir, maybe you need to provide the thickness of the wood you want to cut, I will discuss with our engineers and give you a reply.Or you can add me on whatsapp +8613127135107 and give me a look online
This machine will not cut any metals. It can remove a coating on metal or anodization on aluminum or mark it using a product like cermark. But to cut metal you'll need something with much more power or a different wavelength like a fiber laser.
Thanks for posting this video. What type of laser is it - i.e. who's the manufacturer, where did you buy it from? I'm looking at purchasing a similar power laser and I'm weighing up the Glowforge vs Chinese laser options. Any advice appreciated.
My laser is a Redsail X700 clone. I bought this one on Ebay. It was listed as a 60 watt C02 laser engraver. The glowforge is nice in that it's very simple to use. But it's a lower wattage and smaller working area. If your not afraid to tinker and do some self learning the chinese lasers are a great value.

My 80 W Chinese laser cutter just cut off .The main board doesn't have any power and when I cut on the laser Is there is no power neither. It please tell me which detector problem could be or what do I need to replace.
I'd look at the wiring from the power plug as well to and from the main switch and the e-stop switch. There are springs in the switches that like to fail.
@@darrinbutler619 Look for a part number on the switch. You want to look for something that states 2NC or 1 NC 1 NO or similar and that's key to making it match. I found mine on Amazon for about $12 amzn.to/3L9BJlR
I do still have the machine and I use it quite regularly. I had to replace the emergency stop button and I've upgraded to a CW-5200 industrial chiller as well but the rest is still the same as from the video. I'm still happy with the purchase and hope to use it for many years, with the occasional replacement parts.
This Robert merino just under my company account. Thank you for the quick reply. I tried searching for the machine online but there are so many out there with the same colors. Would you happen to know which one you have?

Hello, friend. We are manufacturer of CO2 laser machine in China. web: www.sequoyatec.com ; Welcome to contact me to get more details and price. Whatsapp: +86 13539465576 /sophia@sequoyatec.com
What software does this laser run on and is it compatible with other software or do you only use a particular software I would like to know if I need several software programs
The default control software is RDWorks that comes with the machine. This is okay to start out with but you'll want a different program to design in. You can import DXF files and Adobe Illustrator files for vector cuts but it also accepts most raster image files for scanning / engraving. Lightburn is the control software upgrade most people recommend for this type of laser.
The lower wattage Co2 lasers like mine do not have the power to cut metals. You would need a much higher power Co2 laser or to look at a fiber laser for marking or cutting metal.
The laser should come with one but it's a good idea to run what's called a "ramp test". You set some material in the laser at an angle and run a line across it so the laser path is going up or down the ramp. You then check the path for the finest line and then measure the distance from your lens holder to the material and that would be the focus distance for that lens.
It’s good to add a chassis ground to be on the safe side. Pick up some green grounding wire and use a machine screw to fix it to the metal chassis. Then run that wire to a known ground such as a ground bar or water pipe.
Hey brother just got the same machine I need your help since everything is on Chinese. Which program/software do you use to make your cuts I can get it to work.
Sorry I missed your comment earlier. Have you been able to switch the machine into english? I have used RD Works that came with the machine to send jobs to it, but I'm also using Lightburn now which is much more powerful and intuitive to use.
8 inch no problems .You can use 120W power CO2 laser cutting machine to do that .Any problems can contact whatsapp +8613127135107 .help you at any time 、smile
At the time I was running around 75% power and 15mm/sec. Since then I have tuned the machine and using the ma meter I can run at 82% power to be just under the max 21ma power and the speed is now around 20mm/sec at that power with decent air assist.
I bought this one before Omtech had a US presence. You’d want to make sure that the ones on eBay are actually from Omtech if you are looking for support from them. There are a lot of eBay sellers importing generic lasers like mine. You take a gamble that they will provide you any support. If you want guaranteed support, I’d buy directly from someone like Omtech’s website.
Great video. Yeah, I'm hoping I can get the original laser tube to cut 1/4" without too much trouble. at 18mm a second, what degree of laser intensity did you use, 80%? etc.. is one question I'm betting others might also have. Thank you for this video! I subbed and liked!
I'm looking hard the Orion 100w. Here's my issue tho.. ideally I need to be able to cut through 3/4 inch western cedar. IF it can be done with a 100w in guessing it will take multiple passes. In your experience with yours is this even feasible?
Hola ¿podrías decirme cuanto mide sin la parte de abajo el soporte tipo mesa?, solo la maquina. Quiero saber si entra en una vivienda por las puertas. Gracias.
When you upgraded to 100watt laser did you also need to upgrade the power supply to 100 watts what is the size and brand of power supply that your using now and I would like to know how many hours of cut time has the machine been used in preforming
I only upgraded to a true 60w tube. The power supply that came with the unit is rated for 60w so I didn't have to swap it out. On the 60W tube I have about 325 hours of cut time on it and it's still going strong for me. It's use goes in waves, sometimes I'm busy with it and other time's it's idle for a few weeks.
Hi there, I've been looking at these machines on eBay for a while. Do they come ready-to-use or was it a nightmare to get it running (mirror adjustments, tweaking, etc.)?
You definitely have to go through the machine and check over things. I would not call it plug and play by any means. While it might run out of the box it likely will not run well and you'll be chasing down issues as you go. It's important to check the bed level, mirror alignment, lens orientation and go over as much of the wiring as you can to make sure the connections are tight. I would not call it a nightmare but it does take some patience. However you'll learn a lot about the machine and it'll be easier to troubleshoot any issues down the road.
With the proper extension tube cover and a new Power supply you can go up to an 80w tube, larger than that you'll want a bigger frame to house everything.
Watch out for that unit! Most of the circuitry is underrated and can cause fire. My friend almost lost his entire shop because his unit caught fire. His was identical to yours. Just keep an eye on it.
I rebuilt all of mine (I mean 99% is new stuff) and the first thing I did was change over to 16 gauge real copper wire as I knew of the horror stories but mostly in the USA due to the wires they use are fine at 220v but at 110v will melt and burn up. btw, on mine had to redo the OMG panic button as it would only cut power off to controller and the up and down table still was live. I also found they had the wires backwards (L/N was N/L) so not even my circuit breaker would react like that.
Johnny, thank you for checking this out. I've had this laser for 3 years now and the first thing I did was go over all the wiring. There were some areas that needed better wire and some connections that were too loose. I've also never used the plugs in the back to power the exhaust fan and pump. That's a very bad idea on these machines. It's something that anyone considering a cheap chinese laser should take into consideration that you will need to do you own due diligence on inspecting and monitoring the machine to avoid a dangerous situation.
I have that very same machine- for 3 years now, only replaced the tube once, and the estop- from what i can see, you have much scorching on the top, and not much air assist, you focal point is too far away from the surface, should be, dependent on your nozzle lense, 13mm from the surface, (fyi, there is plastic orange height gauge that comes with it to set this). also, if you increase your air assist to 10 psi, your cuts will improve dramatically, and also assist in cutting material (wood, acrylic, delrin, etc) up to 19mm.
That is a good point, this video is a year old and I have since replaced the airlines from my compressor. This has allowed better airflow and pressure at the nozzle and I'm getting much better lines now. I should have also cleaned the lens and mirrors before shooting this video as I had run some MDF before this and they were not pristine. I have run a ramp test and my focal point is about the best it can be, but between the lens needing cleaning and the low air assist, I was not getting the best cuts that I could have at the time.
I want one but am a little reluctant to pull the trigger as I barely started scratching the surface on what needs to be modified or adjusted. If anybody can help and point me in the right direction I will probably pull the trigger on one. Thanks in advance
WIth everything tuned up, bed level, focus spot on, good air assist, and a MA meter to max the power usage I can cut 1/4" plywood and MDF. Your mileage will vary depending on the glue in the Plywood and MDF as well as the type of wood in the plywood.
This machine runs on standard 120v power. A single 20amp circuit can work for the machine, exhaust blower, water chiller, and air pump but I have it split between two.
which state do you live in? I live in canada ontario so we get a lot of cold weather I want to run this in my garage its not heated...will the laser work good? what kind of antifreeze do you use?
I am in Minnesota. My garage is insulated and I keep a heater going in the winter so the tmeps in the shop never get much below 50f. I do run a mixture of RV antifreeze and distilled water in the chiller.
I just purchased one of these machines and out of the box it seems to be cutting/engraving my image backwards. Seems as if the zero point on the machine is the back right corner rather than the back left corner. Are you just reversing your image/art before sending it to the machine? The image looks normal on my display on the machine and then engraves in reverse/mirror. thanks
Josh, when I engrave the image appears reversed in the display but normal when it engraves. It sounds like there might be a setting that is reversing the image when processing it? You can set the origin point in the RDWorks software by going to the Config menu > System Setting > then choosing your point in the laser head grid. Maybe check if the x and y axis mirror options are checked in that same location. It might be part of the problem? I've not had to mess with that so I'm not 100% sure that's the issue for you.
Yes I have been able to cut 1/8" acrylic. You need to make sure to get Cast acrylic and play with the frequency settings to find the sweet spot to get clean cuts.
Hello, Ms. Jones. This equipment can't cut metal. It can only cut wood and plywood. If you need metal cutting equipment you need a high power laser cutting machine.Could you show me the material to cut online? Maybe I can give you some advice。 whatsapp+8613127135107
Hi ... I wanted to ask you how many watts is the laser of the video. I would like to take it from 100 watts but I can not find it on ebay. That model I find them from 60 watts. Do you have some advice? Thank you so much for your help !!! Marco
Marco, I bought this as a 60W laser from eBay. That being said it came with a 60w power supply that was overdriving a 50 watt tube. I replaced the 50 watt tube with a true 60 watt tube which is what you see in this video. I should have cleaned the mirrors and lens before this video and the cuts would have been cleaner. I have also played with the air assist to push more air through that has also provided cleaner cuts. I can now cut 1/4" Baltic Birch in one pass with fairly clean edges.
@@Vintauri Thank you so much for the information. I was trying to get the laser at least 80 watts so as not to put it under stress making it work. Using a smaller one, I should keep it at higher watt to make the work overheating it faster !!!

Vintauri RC , thank you for the info, i want to change the tube from 60 watts to 80. Do we need to change the power supply too? What kind of brand of tubes and power supplies do you recommend?
@@alexventuree8100 You should really match the power supply to your tube. I would recommend buying them together from a reputable source. I bought my tube from DLM Laser and it was a RECI brand tube.
Vintauri RC thank you, for you advice. When i change the tube and supply to 80watts , need to be changed the program of the laser machine? Or work with the same system?
@@alexventuree8100 If you stick with the same controller the software will still work. However you'll need to run tests for new power levels and speeds for your material. I've been looking at Lightburn as a new software to use on mine. It looks better then RD Works and works on more controllers as well.
Maker Cut I took a class at the local makers space and he mentioned that but I still don’t understand how. The thing has been a constant headache and we’ve had to mod / replace almost everything. Today the first mirror burnt out after maybe a couple hours of total use.
@@kevincoates1597 Some questions: 1. What software does your machine use (RDWorks, Autolaser)? 2. Your optics need to be cleaned on a regular basis, have you been cleaning them? 3. What lens did the unit come with? Typically in the settings for cutting or engraving there is a setting for minimum & maximum power, the unit should use the minimum power in the corners when cutting. The mirror burning out is most likely due to contaminants on the surface of the mirror (or it was defective from the factory), I would expect contaminants if you have been working mostly with wood as the resins int he smoke can deposit on the mirrors, check them all before doing any more work. As for burning the edges of the wood, there are many variables that can contribute to this; out of focus beam, too much power & not enough speed, low quality wood (high resin content), low pressure air assist. Once you replace your mirror, clean all of your optics, & re-align the beam find out what the focal length of your lens is. If you are using 'Autofocus' it may not be set correctly for the lens from the factory (this happened to me).
Can these Chinese machines have a set home base like where it will always start from the same spot so you dont have to always make sure the wood is aligned? I remember when I used to use the Epilog it would always to the top left corner after every job and start from there
They auto home to a fixed point and you can setup your job to start from a fixed point after that. But you still need your material square to the gantry. On more repetitive jobs I set up a jig that allows me to just drop the piece in each time but on one off quick jobs I just take the few seconds to make sure it's square then run the job.
@@Vintauri Excellent I'm seriously considering this machine as for your air assist pumpI found this particular model (gast doa-p101-aa) on ebay for just $100 it is so quiet almost like a fish tank pump and can run for hours and never overheat. This really is a no-name laser from China that I bought off eBay. The eBay seller no longer exists so I can't even point you to them. Buying a laser like this from eBay is a bit of a gamble but if you read up on them and are confident with the extra work to check them and tune them before using you can get a good machine at a low cost.

I picked up the quiet air compressor at our local Menards which is a home improvement center. This is a Masterforce brand but there are many similar to it under other brands. The important thing to do is to add a ball valve to be able to easily turn on and off the air flow as well as a moisture trap so you don't spray water vapor into the cone with the lens.
Awesome video! U said u changed the laser tube? Which one did u use and where can I get one? Did u change the power supply also? Any other modifications? Thanks
Hi! I have the same laser cutter as you, but i have a problem, the machine works only if i turn off the laser switch, If i turn on, the laser pulse but the head not make any move... Have an idea to solve this problem?
I've got my eyes on an 80w that looks just like yours. I was just wondering how good or bad the support is, or, is there enough of us english speaking folk out there using these that can help out other "newbies". ? haha.. do you do consulting?
When you buy one of the Chinese lasers from the bulk of the resellers you will get almost no support from them. I had a proximity sensor go bad within a month and they did send a replacement but that was about it. There is a good community online in various forums, websites and social media groups that do a lot to support each other and help troubleshoot issues. As long as you go into it understanding you'll need to tinker with the machine from time to time it's a great way to get an inexpensive tool for the shop.
Hello! I just buy a laser cutter and the broker told me I need to pay Entry fee, CBP intensive examination, FDA revision, customs tax and additional duty for china goods 25%. Is that correct?
That laser cutter would do extremely well cutting out tops and backs for acoustic guitars. To add, though... It would be much easier for you to get stuff square if you took actual measurements. Just sayin...
This type of machine can do many things and it's great when people find a use and make it work for them. For production projects, I will set up a jig and know that my piece is square to may starting point each time. But for one-off items, I just set the material in the machine and do a quick test as I did. One of the trade off's with a cheaper chinese machine is constantly checking that the machine is in proper service. The lower quality parts can wear faster or loosen so I never trust that the machine is straight from the last job I've run.
Can always get a camera setup, but you need LightBurn for that. Can place items in and do an overlay to precisely place things where you want them. Makes engraving objects, especially smaller pieces so much easier!
It is not from OMTech. I bought it on eBay over 5 years ago. It is a 60 watt laser and while it's still running strong there are better options out there now. Check out my latest video on my recent recap 5 years after getting the machine. If I was shopping for one today OMTech would be one of the top places I'd look in this price range.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. This is a clear introduction to the tool and its possibilities.
hey, nice video.
Nice video! Good to hear a genuine review.

I appreciate that! Thanks for watching.

Did you have to upgrade the power supply for the new tube as well?
Where are you getting replacement parts for this machine? Mainly mirrors and laser heads.
@@Vintauri Thank you I appreciate the feedback! Those particular components you've replaced have been due to failure then?
Yes the switches and proximity sensors were from failures but the parts were easily sourced and not expensive.
Hey, how has that anti-freeze liquid been working? Have you had any problems caused by low temperatures?
@@mdoyle1981 thank you :)
Video posted nearly 3 yrs ago. How has the machine held up over the 3 yrs?
My laser is still going strong. I've had to replace the E-Stop button and the primary power switch on the side. I've also upgraded to a CW5000 chiller to make things simple. Other than that it's still working on the same tube and power supply. I'll see about doing a 3 year recap video to give people a longer term impression of this machine. Thanks for stopping by!
How long have you had this machine. Will it etch and then cut out the piece or will it take 2 programs
I have had this machine since late 2015. You can setup both etch/engrave and cut functions in the same program.

Sometimes it's just the color. I've seen very similar machines in a few color cases. The things to look for are the controller, tube, and motorized Z axis.

Could you tell me the exact size?
Hello, have you found that some baltic birch will not cut? I'm running in that issue right now.
I purchase all my Baltic Birch from a hardwood dealer so the quality is fairly consistent. Ocassionally there will be a small spot where there is a patch and extra glue the does not cut well but it's never been a full sheet.

does this cut brass, aluminium or metals
This machine will not cut any metals. It can remove a coating on metal or anodization on aluminum or mark it using a product like cermark. But to cut metal you'll need something with much more power or a different wavelength like a fiber laser.
Can u suggest me some fiber laser machines, if u know any?
Thanks for posting this video. What type of laser is it - i.e. who's the manufacturer, where did you buy it from? I'm looking at purchasing a similar power laser and I'm weighing up the Glowforge vs Chinese laser options. Any advice appreciated.
My laser is a Redsail X700 clone. I bought this one on Ebay. It was listed as a 60 watt C02 laser engraver. The glowforge is nice in that it's very simple to use. But it's a lower wattage and smaller working area. If your not afraid to tinker and do some self learning the chinese lasers are a great value.

@@Vintauri LightBurn is AMAZING! They have a 30-day free trial. Russ over at RDWorks Learning Lab is even impressed!
Hi, Did you tried to cut any kind of metals? and what it the best metals for cutting using laser machine? thanks
The lower wattage Co2 lasers like mine do not have the power to cut metals. You would need a much higher power Co2 laser or to look at a fiber laser for marking or cutting metal.
Enjoyed your video. New to laser so I was wondering, does the "spacer" generally come with the machine or is it something you made? Thanks!
The laser should come with one but it's a good idea to run what's called a "ramp test". You set some material in the laser at an angle and run a line across it so the laser path is going up or down the ramp. You then check the path for the finest line and then measure the distance from your lens holder to the material and that would be the focus distance for that lens.
Great Video! Just got mine and I'm about to fire it up the first time. How did you handle the chassis ground? Is this necessary in the United States?
It’s good to add a chassis ground to be on the safe side. Pick up some green grounding wire and use a machine screw to fix it to the metal chassis. Then run that wire to a known ground such as a ground bar or water pipe.
Hey brother just got the same machine I need your help since everything is on Chinese. Which program/software do you use to make your cuts I can get it to work.
Sorry I missed your comment earlier. Have you been able to switch the machine into english? I have used RD Works that came with the machine to send jobs to it, but I'm also using Lightburn now which is much more powerful and intuitive to use.

What’s the difference between an eBay OMTech and a omtech from the manufacturer?
I bought this one before Omtech had a US presence. You’d want to make sure that the ones on eBay are actually from Omtech if you are looking for support from them. There are a lot of eBay sellers importing generic lasers like mine. You take a gamble that they will provide you any support. If you want guaranteed support, I’d buy directly from someone like Omtech’s website.

@@Vintauri thanks i hate wiring issues, this tells me I need to save up some more, LOL, thanks.
Hi thanks for the info, do you know what the highest size laser tube this can be upgraded to?
With the proper extension tube cover and a new Power supply you can go up to an 80w tube, larger than that you'll want a bigger frame to house everything.
How wide of a piece of wood will it cut will it cut up to 30 in the machine
It has a cutting area of about 27" wide by 18" deep.
Thanks! You solve my problem! The problem are the ground...
I was going to get one off ebay, hows it holding up,and so far?
@@Geminiced Mine has held up very well, aside from having to pressure wash the honeycomb table every now and then..
I want one but am a little reluctant to pull the trigger as I barely started scratching the surface on what needs to be modified or adjusted. If anybody can help and point me in the right direction I will probably pull the trigger on one. Thanks in advance

how does this machine do for complex overlays? any chance for a demo on how to do one?
Dear Sir,
could you please tell me how thick plywood and MDF boards does this laser cut ??
I thank you in advance.

WIth everything tuned up, bed level, focus spot on, good air assist, and a MA meter to max the power usage I can cut 1/4" plywood and MDF. Your mileage will vary depending on the glue in the Plywood and MDF as well as the type of wood in the plywood.
Great video. What voltage Your machine need? Do you need a transformer/ converter?
I just get one machine and it need 220V and works with 3000 Watts.

I had that problem too, then I made the switch to LightBurn. RDworks is OK but LightBurn is far superior!
Does it cut 3mm acrylic? How I'd the quality of cut if ever sir?
Yes I have been able to cut 1/8" acrylic. You need to make sure to get Cast acrylic and play with the frequency settings to find the sweet spot to get clean cuts.
@@Vintauri so this machine has so many condition to cut acrylic?

Can this cut metal?
It cannot cut metal. But you can mark it using cermark or remove the powder coating or anodized coating if it's been added.
Vintauri RC thanks for your response. I truly appreciate it!
Hello, Ms.

I want to confirm that 1/2 inch more than 12.7mm???? The co2 laser he thickness of the cut is 150W power cut 10mm
Hello sir, can you tell me how to do 2 more cuts in a row?
If you double up your drawing and assign each a different layer then you can recut in the same spot on the same job. Otherwise you can just repeat the whole job again.
Just wondering what brand chiller you are using?
The Chiller in this video was a HydroFarm Active Aqua Chiller. Model #AACH25. It worked well but I still had to have a separate pump and reservoir. I have since upgraded to a CW5000 Industrial chiller.
Hey thanks for the advice, I just ordered the CW5000. Is there any chance that you have a cylindrical rotary device for that machine? we have the same one and we are hoping to get the rotary device for it.

Is this the Mophorn model that is available on Amazon
It’s very similar and this model is made by many manufacturers in China with slight variations. The Mophorn model I found on Amazon just now looks to have a different control panel so I can’t say if it has the same control and software.

Hello, the chiller installed where you bought?
The chiller that I was using in this video was a 1/4hp aquarium chiller. I purchased it from a reseller on ebay as a refurbished unit for about $175. I have since replaces it with a CW5000 industrial chiller.
With or with out alcohol in the antifreeze?
I believe the pink is propylene glycol RV anti-freeze, with no alcohol.
I’m getting the 100w version of that. Does it always burn the edges like that?
You can lower the power for corners.

Have you tried actual images with this machine and get good results?.. From my experience I used the Epilog Legend 36ext for a few years until my business partner disappeared with the machine... scum bag... however that machine is 25,000 I cannot afford that so I need something to get back on my feet. I usually engraved on 3mm maplewood using 45w laser at 300dpi with great results usually 90speed 30power

This really is a no-name laser from China that I bought off eBay. The eBay seller no longer exists so I can't even point you to them. That quiet pump do you have any info on it?
I picked up the quiet air compressor at our local Menards which is a home improvement center. This is a Masterforce brand but there are many similar to it under other brands. The important thing to do is to add a ball valve to be able to easily turn on and off the air flow as well as a moisture trap so you don't spray water vapor into the cone with the lens.
I have those just not a quiet pump as my pancake pump I can hear all over the house and outside as well.

check your cables and power supply for any grounding issues
I've got my eyes on an 80w that looks just like yours. I was just wondering how good or bad the support is, or, is there enough of us english speaking folk out there using these that can help out other "newbies". ? haha.. do you do consulting?
I'm going to be cutting 1/8 and 1/4 inch plexiglass.
What is the price of Indian rupies
Hello! I just buy a laser cutter and the broker told me I need to pay Entry fee, CBP intensive examination, FDA revision, customs tax and additional duty for china goods 25%. Is that correct?
That's insane, go through eBay or Amazon.
@@Vintauri Fair enough.
Can always get a camera setup, but you need LightBurn for that. Can place items in and do an overlay to precisely place things where you want them. Makes engraving objects, especially smaller pieces so much easier!
