      Experiencing something similar. The gold ends on mine became entangled after taking them out connector and trying to straighten them made the problem worse. Luckily I have another damaged cable and will be looking to use this video as a guide to join both together. Both of them have one side with good pins so hopefully this goes well

    A tip, you can use a thin Diamond file or sand paper to exposed the copper instead and it works well if you place a card under it to raise that section while wearing away the casing

    I found it much easier to melt the insulation with a knife blade on a soldering iron and then scrape and tin, just have to be careful of fumes as I suspect it is PVC.

    • @bornbranded29
      @bornbranded29 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your suggestion. I kept damaging the cable with a knife because it is very small. With the soldering iron blade it slowly got the plastic off and kept the metal prongs from flaking off or bending, as the heat kept the tracks in place. Thanks a lot.

    Great video. The blue ends on both sides of my connector have cut off, so I can't see any exposed cable, it is a 5mm width Sumitomo-G AVM 20624 80c 60v VW-1 -F- 4 pin cable, can I just buy another off Ebay or are they specific to each device ? Also what does Forward or Reverse mean when buying the cables and what is the pitch ? I have no idea what mine is. Also are both ends of the cables the same or do I need to make sure I keep the broken off blue connector end from the bottom of the cable as always the bottom one or are they interchangeable ? Thanks again.

    Hi Super random question I had to repair a 6 wire ribbon cable for my ps3 power buttton but some of the copper wire further down is also exposed the part that does not go inside the slot is this bad or would it be fine to use and does it matter what rotation the flex cable goes in>

    • @chazj1976

      Be fine to use even though some copper exposes. You could wrap a small piece of electrical tape around the section that's exposes. Orientation of cable in the socket matters yes. Check it against images on the Web for which way it should go

    • @atharv-darekar
      @atharv-darekar หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Indeed, it is dangerous. Use FFC to DIP adapters rather than scrapping the insulation like savages. During a maintenance job of my laptop, the ribbon cable connecting the USB hub to motherboard was damaged, I was desperate and tried this method, the moment I powered the device it started to burn and melt. Horrible scenario...! Thankfully none of the components were damaged. Simple buy a new one, calculating the pitch is easy, divide the width of the cable with the number of terminals.
