oatmeal trying to get inside the enclosure is like that meme of Dr. Phil: "open the door or I'm going to throw rocks at your windows, you dumb *****" 🤣

I don't know why people question the size of their enclosure. It's about twice the size of my flat. Yes, I can choose to go out whenever I want, but there are so many people that live in flats even smaller than mine and are not able to go out. A bit of perspective people, please. The foxes are fine.

thats because youre a human and theyre a fox... theyre probably better off in the enclosure than being farmed or being unable to fend for themselves in the wild, but they even said it in the video, theyre wild animals, they need a lot of space. look up saveafox on youtube for more reasonably sized enclosures

@@MenachemSchmuel Are those reasonably sized enclosures or is it just ur opinion? I think people fail to realize that animals are not human. They dont care lol, they are a stupid fox that would probably eat its own poo

@@MenachemSchmuel well saveafox is MOSTLY foxes so they can all be let out during the day into the large field with a fence around it and not have to worry about the animal interactions. Also saveafox is located in minnesota, there is much less need for shade there. Having an enclosure such as one this big with this much shade is really a cut above.
There's only two foxes at alveus and the vast majority of the animals do not and will not mix well. Also you can tell that they are happy and enriched in their separate enclosures.
Another way you could look at it is that so many of these animals are educational ambassadors for their species and hopefully having these animals in this very reasonably sized (and well designed) enclosure with caretakers who are educated and care very much for the animals, will teach people to not put these animals in situations that are MUCH worse than this one.
I understand about like consent and stuff that is pretty impossible to get from animals but as Alveus these animals are respected, treated well, enriched daily and content.

@@dhdragon555 i literally already said that there are worse situations for a fox to be in. sure, there are valid reasons for the foxes to be in this enclosure. but pretending that they have enough space to be fully content is absolutely delusional.
not even a dog would be happy to be kept in that space 24/7. better than a kennel at the pound? absolutely. a "good" situation? hardly.

The people saying "foxes are not dogs" that's correct. Both foxes and dogs are Canines though. So they have similar features like long snouts and sharpened fangs (they're canine teeth specifically, much like humans have teeth that are "canines" and generally a bit sharper for tearing things). But fox, while cute/beautiful/whatever aren't domesticated. They will run and will likely bite if cornered.
Cute things can be cute but also murder machines for stuff.

First time i heard a vixen call i thought there was a woman being brutally murdered in the woods outside my house, it was past midnight and I had no clue what to do apart from yell "hello?" Into the woods, didn't learn what the noise was until months later.

I'm in the UK and these red foxes are everywhere. Some of the sounds they make at night sound like someone is being attacked with loud screams. Takes a while to get used to for a city folk going into the countryside hearing it.
Also, I learnt recently that the red foxes in the city have evolved a shorter wider snout (very similar to Finn) than the ones in the countryside, which are more traditionally long and skinny (more like Reid). This apparently aids in there rummaging through trash better as that is a big source of food in cities.

It may not be obvious to some, but, it might be nice to talk about how all the enclosures have double doors as part of State regulations, as well as safety?

In Ireland, we have a folklore Mythical creature called the Banshee, basically a forest witch type spirit, who's terrifying cries and screams you can hear, even to this very day, as they wander the forests at night. Cause in reality its from foxes. The terrifying cries and screams you can hear are just our native red foxes

Yep, especially since they are only eclipsed in volume by llamas in the bedroom. Or the barnyard, I guess....
