Here on this channel we give our honest reaction. We aren't here to be fake to satisfy viewers. We are new Army and we are learning as we go. It was brought to our attention the racist issue by RM recently by a BTS Army member and we reacted with our honest reaction hearing it for the first time. The same way a lot of people reacted when it first happened. It was him using the 'n word' not him using the statement to describe his Korean friends. If you aren't AFRICAN AMERICAN you can't relate and/or comment on this. The term was created in the USA as a demeaning term during slavery. We aren't going to go into detail. YOU CAN DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. But it is ultimately our decision to accept or decline any apology that was given.
I'm a black girl and proud of it but it's just that you two don't know the whole story behind it and you already let it cloud your judgement. For most Army it hurt seeing people that we've started to like to just you know act like the bts haters not saying you are but the haters had already cause a lot of trouble and we are quite defensive
there's nothing wrong with asking questions, especially relating to these types of topics. all the ARMYs commenting at some point asked the same questions, which is why we now have the answers. if u come across things like this in the future feel free to ask, its the only way u'll get to learn more about BTS. as for the I Need U performance, to new ARMYs who've seen ON or Black Swan live performances it can seem underwhelming. but because it's a trip down memory lane for us (this song gave them their very first music show win) we become kinda sentimental and bust out plenty uwu's:). hope this doesn't discourage u from future reactions💜
As you have pointed out " If you aren't AFRICAN AMERICAN you can't relate and/or comment on this. The term was created in the USA as a demeaning term during slavery" why do you still keep saying to each other today? BTS said a Korean word that sounded the same as the N word and once they found out it was removed from the song right away and fixed and they even said sorry, as you said "But it is ultimately our decision to accept or decline any apology that was given. " Please don't drag BTS down over one mistake. BTS are 7 memebers
rm has never actually been racist to anyone directly. the only fact is when he sang the n word once when he was young but because of korea being so perserved about western stuff, he didnt know it was racist at the time. hes gravely apologized for that mistake and explained how he now does everything in his power to be a better person so he never accidentally offends anyone or race ever again. u said "racist comments" as in multiple, which is why i had to step in n say ive been in the fandom for 5 yrs and the only racist connection hes ever had is this which i just explained. we gotta let people grow and learn from their mistakes, if not we're just as bad as they are. hes an amazing human and role model and has done alot for the black community which he loves. even the 1 million dollar donation which they never meant to even get publisized.. hes just a good human. and every good human makes mistakes. its what makes them human. the good comes from owning up to them and learning from it to grow.
@gvccitae, I also wanted to add to your comment that RM is a socially conscious of what’s going on in the world today of course when they donated $1 million to the Black Lives Matter movement they did it with sincerity in their heart and if they want to see an incredible speech by RM and BTS “ I hope that they will look into the love yourself speak yourself campaign of 2018 collaboration with UNICEF at the United Nations. Face it there’s not very many musical groups in the world who have spoken to the United Nations when it comes to social conscious issues with young people and the violence that takes place all over the world to children and young people ! To me because I am army that touches my heart knowing that these seven human beings are excellent examples of what a good person should be! I purple u Borahae 💜
rm has never made any racist comments towards black people (i'm saying this as a black person myself) he has made colorist/ignorant comments when he was a teen and has apologized for most if not all of his behavior. you can look up the specifics but the main thing is when bts performed a cover of a song from a group called SHINWA and rm said the n word in the song as it was in the lyrics(apologized for that, but the funny thing is that people never seem to question why that older kpop group has a song where they use the n word in the first place) and they've all made some colorist comments in their youth about skin color of their own race because many Asian countries promote fair skin as beautiful and dark/tan skin as ugly (its like this most places worldwide) but they literally talked about getting over that self-hatred and terrible beauty standards in their most recent documentary. It's up to the individual to accept apologies or not in the end though. do your own research and don't take any one person's words as the truth, not even mine. PS. All that was said previously doesn't detract from the fact that this video is titled wrong and i think you guys let whatever info you just learned about cloud your reaction anyway. The song is emotional and not super hype of course they're not gonna be jumping all over the stage. perhaps you should react to a song/mv before you see a live performance
Rm said those things in the past when he was uneducated about black people you have to remember that south Korea is not has diverse has America is they know next to nothing about black people and what words are offensive and what isnt so when he realized what he said he apologized and educated himself. He is very cautious the whole team is about what he says now in korean the word for I sounds like the n word so when they come to america they change the word as to not to offend any one. I give credit to South Korea because while they are not exposed to black people and do not know much about black history they try to learn and respect it. For example the BLM movement many kpop idols including bts supported it more than white people in america have. I was the same when I came across what rm said but I also believe in growth. Many of black army such as myself will tell you that RM has learned from his mistakes and takes full responsibility. RM has done what some white people in america dont do he acknowledged his mistake and ignorance and learned to be better.
This performance was a recreation of their 2015 performance of their song I Need U which was their first major hit in South Korea and the song that won them their first music show award after 2 years. A lof of BTS fans love this song and the music video for I Need U is the start of the Bangtan Universe storyline. In regards to RM has he said some questionable things in the past, yes. I will not post links to them though or what he has said. To erase all the positive and great things BTS have done and continue to do because of a few ignorant comments years ago is just not fair to me. People grow, change, and learn all the time and I think all BTS members are more aware now of how their words affect people. Hell they even donated 1 million dollars to black lives matter. In 2014 BTS got so much hate for their song War of Hormone because people said it objectified women. RM became so self conscious after that, so he would have others read his lyrics to point out any problems that people might have with them. Then in 2016 BTS came out with the song 21st Century Girl which is such a women empowerment song. See they grew and learned from their mistake. Plus you have to understand there aren't many black people in South Korea. Not saying that excuses anything, but I do think that does impact how koreans view black people. I'm sure there are plenty of things you said or did when you were younger that you regret, but you guys don't have video footage to remind the entire world of those mistakes. BTS even have a song called Hip Hop Phile where they name drop a lot of the hiphop artists they listened to growing up and were inspired by to become rappers. BTS isn't perfect and all of them have made mistakes but they always admit their faults and errors and then try to better themselves. Just know that BTS have grown and learned a lot over the years and don't deserve hate because of what they said years ago and didn't know better. But be prepared, there are probably going to be a lot of ARMY who aren't going to pleased this was brought up.
RM have said the N-word once and it was when he was doing a cover, he had no idea and when he was educated about why it’s wrong he made an apology statement and never made the mistake ever again, this way way back like in 2013 ? (Correct me if I’m wrong), this is the only situation that he used the N-word , I’m not sure why people are bringing it up? We can’t go back in time and changed what he did but he apologized immediately after the incident and never did it again. (Just to warn you lots of kpop groups fans don’t get along so sometimes fans will bring up their mistakes to use it against them, for example I have seen a lot of blinks/nct fans bring this up so people would believe bts/Namjoon are racist ) I may be wrong but I haven’t seen or heard Namjoon ever be racists towards black people but it’s up to y’all to decide.
9:31 the reason why they look tired and like they've been through a lot is because the song "I Need U" aims to deliver this particular message. Released in 2015, it is about the vulnerability and the dark side of youth (mainly depression). If you have time, you might want to check out the song's music video (the original one, bc there are 2 versions), and most importantly, the lyrics says a lot. This song also means a lot both to BTS and ARMY, as this brought them to their first music show win after 2 years of their debut.
I would also like to let you guys know that kpop fans would do anything to tear down other groups, so just beware of messages or comments you might get about groups. Since ALOT of kpop groups have members who have done offensive things or have said the N word recently or in the past.
I’m only a baby army, but from doing my own research I’ve found that it was a lot of in his past when he was younger and clearly uneducated rather than now in the present. He’s also since apologised not only about racism or cultural appropriation but also for other things and has been educating himself about these world issues.
actually it really hard to understand but back then RM made a lot of mistakes. And maybe that was one of the reason as to why i didn't get into them up till years later where i felt like maybe i should push again and try to understand what going on. and yes he really has change a person he knows what wrong and right now compare to how he was back then. He would always apologies on his vlive and some say that it was not sincere but what matter was that he knows what he did wrong and took the time to think about it and learn from it. He really was just a young teenage boy trying to fullfil his dream without knowing anything and had to lead a group. just him changing his name RAP MONSTER to RM tells us how he has grown. He said it himself Why did i name myself rap monster when i am a human. i am terribly sorry bc i am trying to explain it but i dont think i did a good job with it. I just want you guys to know he has made a lot of mistakes in his life. ' i am always afraid of making mistakes. I think i was born with that" - namjoon. he used to say that but now he tells us that it okay to make mistakes and that we should learn from them. RM really has mature and changed as a person. please do give them a chance and dive deep into this rabbit hole. I promise you that you would never regret meeting them. Even though some of us Armies are mean. I AM PROUD TO BE A PART OF THEM.
I'm am sorry if my comment made others attack you in any way I am black person that is why I felt the need to comment on it there are many idols and rappers and even company ceo that appropriate black culture and use racist words and many ignore it because they like them I am a person who doesn't ignore those things so when i learned about rm said i was very disappointed but i soon learned what he did to grow as a person i respected him. In korea there are really no black people so all the exposure they get to black people are through television most koreans could say they have never met a black person before. What impressed me about RM is he apologized not about just saying the N word but he apologized for not knowing what it meant he apologized for not leaning what it meant for saying it he apologized to black army for not learning more about them. To this day RM studies cultures and countries laws and rules to make sure not to offend anyone but especially the army that's why BTS stopped a performance in a stadium to respect a muslim tradition in saudia Arabia. I'm not asking you to give forgive rm but I am asking you not to let your views towards him if you choose not to forgive to be bias towards all of bts. Many people are saying that you should not expect a lot of jumping around during this song because it is a slower song. I think they took it the wrong way I understand maybe slower performances aren't for you and that's fine.
RM is a lot of things but being racist isn't one of them. Now I'm sorry you had to hear something like that but its the haters getting to you. PS: BTS always give it their all during a performance. 💜
I would like to know who brought this to their attention, because it sure wasn't a BTS fan who did. It's so sad how anytime someone is popular and successful people will dig up anything they can to bring them down.
So from what I heard from other armies is that RM was younger and didnt know about the meaning of the words he said because he listened to other rappers who says i guess some racist words in the western areas and RM is korean and didnt know it was racist but when he knew the meaning of it, he apologized for it. It was in the past and I know what he did/said was wrong but he has changed into a better person and had regretted what he has said in the past. In one interview back in 2018, he said there were some lyrics in Fake Love that were offensive to other people like "naega" meaning "me" in korean so whenever they perform Fake Love or other songs, they change the lyrics. In my opinion, I think they were tired because they have been giving lots to army and that the KBS Song Festival was almost 6 hours and they were the last to perform so I think it's why their tired. Btw I love your reactions and I'm just trying to explain about RM.
A media person asked bts what where their frist impressions of each other... Rm: (i couldnt see j_hope and v because they were to black.....and it was night time) In asain culture if your tan or a little darker some might consider you as black....or the might use that type of phaszing. Know what he said was wrong but this was 5 years ago and he was very young and the korean culture is very different an some people are not aware that some words are offensive.. But He did apologize to the black community and to those that were effected by his comments....saying that he didnt mean it in a negative way... I hope this doesnt chance ur perspective on RM..... 💜
@@lozlozza6207 Ah, yes "black" and "tan" do mean the same but it depends on who you're addressing when using the word. It only becomes "black" when said to an actual black person. Jimin, for example, was called out for using the word but he clearly hadn't meant to offend anyone bc he was talking to Jungkook. He said something along the lines of "Look how dark you've gotten. You're very tan." and people took it the wrong way. That's the thing with language. It causes a lot of misunderstandings...
@@lozlozza6207 Same in my language...like to refer to tan or darkened skin, effect from the sun. Even turning one tone darker is refer to being darker or black, even though it's a subtle change in your skin tone. It's not meant to be used in a racist context. Another example I can think of is if someone put on a bit of weight. Not by a whole lot, but maybe 5-10lbs which makes a difference if you're shorter. They'll straight up tell you that you're fat. 😭 It's not the ill intent of fat/body shaming you, but a nudge to let you know you've gain a bit around the waistline or in your face area. It's not said in a literal sense, but might come off that way. I guess it's a cultural thing? Hopefully someone understand what I mean because certain issues can be a very sensitive topic for some people. Some words can come off as very harsh, but culture makes a huge difference in how things are said and perceived. That's why idioms are so different everywhere and should NOT be taken literally. [Break a leg everyone! ➡ Don't take this literally or seriously because it just means "good luck." 😁] Another example, but not an idiom, is calling a baby UGLY. They'll say it directly to the baby while the parents are there! Without any context, most people might consider this very rude. However, in some culture, calling a baby ugly is to ward off any evil spirits or demons from taking the baby in the first place. When they call a baby ugly, it's like a code word to say the baby is darn cute. Some people will totally get what I'm saying, while some might be confused and ask why someone would call any baby ugly in the first place. I totally get both sides that's why it's important to understand the context, meaning, culture, history etc behind what's being said. Because it could simply mean something totally different from what is said or intended.
3:37 i don't really know what happen actually because i wasn't a fan of them yet at that time but i heard from older army rm was singing the lyrics of the song(i don't know what song) but it sound like rm was saying the n word. its long time ago when this happen but rm already apologies for his mistake & he said he will educate the member & himself so this will never happen again. I really hope you guys don't hate any members just because of their past mistake Ps: sorry for my bad english
I would like to know how this was brought to their attention, because it wasn't a BTS fan that did. It's just sad that anytime someone becomes popular and successful haters will try to dig up anything to bring them down. I'm sorry but nobody is perfect and BTS have had their fair share of mistakes but they always acknowledge them and then try to better themselves.
I appreciate your honest reaction. This song and performance is a throwback to 2015 (think hiphop baby BTS crossing over to being more vulnerable), so you can understand it is a BIG sentimental favorite for ARMY. I think you should give the MV a watch, the whole era was a turning moment for BTS. 💜
I love the mv for I Need U. But I don't know if they are ready to watch it yet though because that video is the start of the Bangtan Universe Storyline and I don't if they plan on watching that whole storyline. Such and intense and sad music video for sure.
But they did do dynamite this same day idk when tho and I’m a black army Stan and basically what happen was rlly early in their career during a performance RM said the n word. Now keep in mind Rm only learned English through freinds the tv show but however doesn’t excuse he still said the word and he did apologize and took full responsibility and has been educating himself on the matter but nothing like this hasnt happen ever again which is why I still Stan bc I almost stopped liking them when I heard about it and it made me feel some type of way. The fact that he said it and didn’t know the history behind the word was surprising to me but after reading more on Korean culture I figured out some people in Korea rlly just don’t know the history and how awful it is to say that word hopefully now he does tho.and his apology is on vlive but u can choose wether to keep stanning it’s your choice and I understand if u stop stanning them but I honestly think he was being genuine with his apology and actions speak louder than words which is why I choose to still like and support them. Btw there’s a video on TH-cam of the performance he said it in
yes, RM said statements in the past that might be offensive to Black ppl, i think its because he's young and he didn't properly educated himself about black culture but today he said sorry for the mistakes he did in the past and continued educating not just himself but the other BTS members as well, i know its kinda disappointing that he said those things cause im a blm supporter as well
I want to note that he may have said things that could offend black people, but has never directed any type of hate towards black people. Anything he has said about skin color, has always been about other Koreans, not black people.
Yea not to long ago I also realize some not very ok stuff was said by them about black people/ having darker skin and I really had to do my research but just so you know they have since apologized a while back and I really appreciated that because I don’t think I could’ve continued loving them if there was never a sincere apology. Also I’ve been feeling like this since the MAMA performance but they’ve been a bit off since suga hasn’t been performing with them but hopefully once he comes back they’ll be up to par again 💃🏽
I just want to make sure you know that RM has never directly said anything about a black person. Every comment he has made about skin color has been about other Koreans.
@@ipurpleu1668 People have also brought up that time RM said the n word when BTS did a song cover back in 2014. Funny how no one said anything about that until BTS got big and then BTS got the hate for that. But not the original group who made that song and had it in their lyrics. But they now know it was wrong say that word even if it was in the song. When they performed Fake Love in 2018 for the first time in the US they changed the lyrics so they wouldn't have to use the word naega because they knew people might think they were saying the n word and the didn't want to offend people. I just think it's stupid to hold people accountable for mistakes made years when they were teens and just didn't know better. RM has stated that he just never really thought about it when he was younger how his words can affect others. But all BTS members have grown and learned a lot.over the years. So I really hope finding out about this doesn't change their feelings about RM and BTS.
@@ipurpleu1668 no there was a time where he did “black english” like people asked him to do that and he did. Also they did say the N word a long time ago like American hustle life times and that seems pretty directed towards black people to me
RM is a good friend of Wale they also has colab back in 2015...the song is "Change"...if you care to check it out....and also react BTS hardship ...2013-present Anti always accused BtS every little think tgey do..they always try to bring them down..thats the case...
For some reason idk why this video has so many dislikes. From my timeline rn the like amount is 50 and the dislike amount is 109, The other people must be offended by their opinion and comment about it. Like bruh they have the right to give their own opinion, likings and feelings about it. Just because its not their favorite doesn't mean they insulted BTS or hate them like that, It's their opinion about how they feel with the reaction. But I get that many ARMY's are very sensitive once you try to make some opinion of the outcome and for some reason comes out offensive, but they also need to understand other peoples perspective. Either way, I respect other ARMY's, BTS and People 💜
I don't think their performance and song critique is the reason people dislike this video. It's what they said about RM that is rubbing people the wrong way.
I didn't dislike the video because of the RM comment but because I think that they let there newlyfound discovery( if they knew the complete story behind those incidents I would have accepted that even knowing the whole story it had still influence their judgement I would have accepted it but they have only half of it) cloud the whole reaction like damn make research don't just listen to what people say cause some people like to try cause trouble for bts
A racist will always find excuses. See a lot of people are telling ya'll to do your research before making a video. The irony that if RM would have did the same he would had knew better but yet they excuse him but try to bash ya'll. F the racist haters!

I need u mean a lot to bts & army, after two years they finally got their first music show win with this song
RM is a wise, enlightened soul. I have lived almost twice as long as him, but I respect him so much. 💜
Who the hell bring that up incident...RM didnot do it on purpose...he only used the wrong word to describe His first impresion of V and Jhope ...
Probably blonks or nctz. Always trying to be up in Armys business and attacking bts. I see them on Twitter everyday trying to bring this up...
i'll leave you guys a vid about namjoon's past and his apology it's up to you if you want to accept it
RM is a lot of things but being racist isn't one of them.
@@crystalsnow1138 Exactly, they educated themselves and we should look on the positive side (Btw stream life goes on :)
Here is the link:
th-cam.com/video/3aROlEx1g_8/w-d-xo.html
A media person asked bts what where their frist impressions of each other...
Rm: (i couldnt see j_hope and v because they were to black.....and it was night time)
In asain culture if your tan or a little darker some might consider you as black....or the might use that type of phaszing.
💜
But also the word “black” and “tan” in Korean are the same from what I’ve heard from Karmys
True...
In some asia country "tan" and "black" considered as the same thing. I'm a trilingual who knows vietnamese, korean, english and i can confirm that
@@lozlozza6207 Same in my language...like to refer to tan or darkened skin, effect from the sun. Because it could simply mean something totally different from what is said or intended.
i think the lack of a member in this dance routine just makes it look incomplete
I can't wait until Suga is back, but I also don't want him to rush his recovery.
I really hope you guys don't hate any members just because of their past mistake
Ps: sorry for my bad english
Btw there’s a video on TH-cam of the performance he said it in
yes, RM said statements in the past that might be offensive to Black ppl, i think its because he's young and he didn't properly educated himself about black culture but today he said sorry for the mistakes he did in the past and continued educating not just himself but the other BTS members as well, i know its kinda disappointing that he said those things cause im a blm supporter as well
Okay I have to ask, why the left thigh?
I want to note that he may have said things that could offend black people, but has never directed any type of hate towards black people. Anything he has said about skin color, has always been about other Koreans, not black people.
Check out
bts rm past mistakes and his apology on TH-cam
@@ipurpleu1668 exactly this
@@ipurpleu1668 no there was a time where he did “black english” like people asked him to do that and he did. Also they did say the N word a long time ago like American hustle life times and that seems pretty directed towards black people to me
Regardless like I said they’ve sincerely apologized since so I’m cool about it. If you want the videos I can link them to you
It feels off cuz one member is missing it feels incomplete
RM is a good friend of Wale they also has colab back in 2015...the song is "Change"...if you care to check it out....and also react BTS hardship ...2013-present Anti always accused BtS every little think tgey do..they always try to bring them down..thats the case...
Watch and reacts to bts mma 2020, mama 2020, tma 2020 and npr tiny desk performances thanks
Rm really love black people even he's ideal type in a girl is black people if u will watch american hustle life u will know
React to bts getting Grammy
Luv u guyz pls keep reacting more to bts videos thanks
BTS SNL Please try again💖💖💖😄
Please react to izone panorama dance practice please
Great reaction!
Next please reaction girl group KPOP *SECRET NUMBER - GOT THAT BOOM and PRIVACY* come on guy check it out. 😊
you’re actually right people keep losing morals over kpop it’s sad
A racist will always find excuses. See a lot of people are telling ya'll to do your research before making a video. The irony that if RM would have did the same he would had knew better but yet they excuse him but try to bash ya'll. F the racist haters!
