The 1987 G1 Double Spy had a very unique transformation, a vehicle that could transform into 2 different figures.
An Autobot (Punch) or a Decepticon (Counterpunch).

I've got to say, the way his legs transform is rather complex for a G1 figure.

The Double Spy gimmick was a very fun one and I really felt he was an interesting character. And yeah, no Marvel appearances aside from a TFU profile.
How's this sound. Two robot modes *and* two vehicle modes. Quadchanger. Crosswise/Crosscut.

So, Punch's vehicle mode suffered from engine fires? I'm surprised that didn't happen to him, what with all the mode shifting.

Trying instead of rubbing the symbol just pressing your finger on it for about a half a minute it still might work.

I kept mine from 1987 with both weapons all the way until about 2011 when I sold him complete with both weapons. He was the only toy I kept for that long and you can say by accident because he always got placed in a box when I moved. I like the Autobot mode because he looks like Optimus so I would call him Optimus's son who was a spy. I imagined that Optimus was not quite pleased with his role as a spy.
I hope one day you get a chance to watch the Japanese Headmasters as they basically had everyone there from G1, though its my least favorite of the Japanese continuity it has some cool moments with him in it
Do youknow if anyone can do retool and customs of G1 toys? I have ideas.

Transformers: Power of the Primes The Grand Deception
Counterpunch through deceptive yet highly effective means has coerced Predaking and Trypticon into giving him their energy, he's absorbing their power directly into his Counter Matrix making him into the most powerful Decepticon ever!
With his new power, Counterpunch will overthrow Galvatron and become the new Decepticon Emperor of Destruction!
As the new Decepticon Leader, Counterpunch will usher in a new age, he will move the focus away from direct confrontations with the Autobots and will instead focus on finding and creating energy sources to sustain them, he will put efforts towards securing a stronghold on Cybetron and Chaar. Counterpunch and his new regime will work to strengthen these strongholds as well as creating more outposts.
Through this new Leadership the Decepticons will flourish but what of their thirst for battle? Counterpunch will have his Decepticons attack space pirates and planet poachers, the inhabitants of the world's they inadvertently save will be in debt to them and with pay that debt with some of the energon and goods that were stolen.
Counterpunch will lead the Decepticons under the guise of tyranny, destruction and thievery but all the while, all of these actions will be good and produce good.
As Punch, the current Autobot Supreme Commander will appoint Punch as his successor. Under Counterpunch's leadership, the Decepticons saw victory and spoils like never before and they were no longer loosing energon to the Autobots. Counterpunch has earned the respect and trust of the Decepticons.
At the peak of Decepticon prosperity Counterpunch suggests allowing defected Autobots to join their ranks, although hesitant at first, the Decepticons accept this proposal and begin to integrate many Autobots into their ranks, the results of this action leads to further occupation of Cybertron to the point of half of Cybertron being under Decepticon rule.
After 10,000 years of prosperity and over 10,000 additions to the Decepticon ranks, Counterpunch reveals himself as Punch Prime, Supreme Leader of the Autobots, by this time there are seamingly no more Autobots left however in truth what has happened is that Punch has united the Autobots and the Decepticons under one faction, the Decepticons see how they have been so masterfully deceived, they also see how their lives have changed and how they no longer have to fight for scraps just to survive. Punch has earned their respect in many ways and he has greatly improved their lives so much so that this grand deception is widely accepted.
Thus ended the Autobot Decepticon War once and for all
Which toy has the best Optimus face, besides Optimus?
Cool review for this little guy. I never had him, but I did manage to snag a TFCC (G3) Version, which is pretty cool too. (Do you have that one, for a comparison video, by chance? If not, I recently saw him available on Aliexpress for about $25...if you were interested, of course.)

I like it. Thought it was a clever use of what's turned out to be a diverse mold.

Saw and pre-ordered the PotP Punch-Counterpunch figure (due out mid-September), and decided to watch this video again.
Also, since last time, I've acquired the G1 version, as well, so that was pretty cool.
