Ma'am you said in n- π* polarity of the solvent increase then it gives blue shift and in π-π* when we increase the polarity of the solvent then it gives red shift. How is it possible in both the cases by increasing polarity of the solvent they give different shift
thankyu mam😊..maximum no of students depends on youtube and teachers who truely guide students.i dont have notes i just watch a lectures from TH-cam..mam plz dont stop uploading this kind of lectures and plz if possible upload unit wise lectures of 4th sem msc chemistry

Reason why in case of blue shift it stabilize n orbital and in case of red shift it stablise pi* ORBITAL
Plz reply this question also
Thank you
Welcome.
Mam how dipole interactions decrease energy of pi* antibonding orbital
Ma'am you said in n- π* polarity of the solvent increase then it gives blue shift and in π-π* when we increase the polarity of the solvent then it gives red shift. How is it possible in both the cases by increasing polarity of the solvent they give different shift
Polarity is responsible for the shift in absorption which is different for different translation
