That wasn’t low T you were feeling that was the feeling of Assurance.... you have provided the most valuable resource for your family and you now know the wont do with out. Good job keep working hard its been nice watching you accomplish your dreams
Wow, what a moment! You worked so hard for that water! I am so excited for you and your family! Solar coming together!!! Almost there! God has been with you all along!
Man i am so glad to see this video. All of us that follow your channel appreciate your hard work in making your homestead and making these videos. We rejoice with you every step of the way!
That opening scene says it all. The satisfaction of giving your thirsty dog fresh water from YOUR OWN WATER SOURCE - all that determination and hard work has finally paid off. HURRAY!!!!!!! I'm very happy for you :-) :-) :-)
Awesome that you have the water you need. Having all the tires would be an awesome way to go. Even having your children help you would go faster. You have awesome ideas and follow through with them. Love watching all your videos.
"Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can't go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does." ― Margaret Atwood, The Penelopiad
Tires are a great idea, have a root cellar made quite a while back bout fifty years or so and it has served us well, its in the side of the hill so it stays constant temp at 45 degrees...you and your family are in my prayers, you are doing a great thing for your family and I am always looking forward to your updates, thank you for showing us and allowing us into your life. peace
Amazing accomplishment, check it off!!! Incredible vision realized. Cheers to you! You are amazing! It's ok to shed a few tears of joy and relief, you worked for them!!!
Your expression of your faith ("... go somewhere to get a little help from a higher power.") is not only touching, but personally VERY welcome, and greatly appreciated. I wish more people had this same faith. Thank you very much for being willing to express that faith ASK AND YE SHALL RECEIVE.
You are so correct about water. Go without it for a few days and see what happens. You are a true conservationist. That attitude is the only way we will save this beautiful planet our creator gifted to us. I hope what you are promoting catches on. Takes a lot of courage to do what you have and are doing.
This man is amazing. He puts in all that effort, all that blood and sweat. Struggle and challenges. Then his first bit of water goes to his dog. Selfless on a different level that most can comprehend.
Earth Ship for the win! Take that time and call it learning and connecting with the family. Time spent working on something is always worth more than spending money on something easy, and after you are done, you will look back and say that was hard but easy, as it calmed the brain and built a bond of one more things that you will never say "I wish I did that". Amazing video!
Congratulations on the water. Hearing you talk about using railroad ties for a root cellar brings back many memories. My grandpa built his into the side of the hill out of them. We hated going in there when we were kids, as it was so spooky and filled with cobwebs. But as I grew older I realized just how important it was and wish I had one just like it. Thanks for sparking up old times.
That smile on your face while watching your dog drink that water, man. That smile tells a story. A long, harrowing, battle that was ultimately won. You're awesome man, thanks for these videos.
Congrats on a finished project that’s been a long time coming. Thank you for all the time spent on making & sharing these videos, I’m looking forward to the next one.
Getting water is awesome,it means one step closer to life in freedomdom. It is slowly becoming more like a real home. So happy for your family and the progrees of owning your own family homestead.
Garbage Warrior documentary with Michael Reynolds he does the same thing over in the India after a tsunami overall the wells had seawater in them so we built an above ground well with 6 mil plastic
I know the feeling! We are trying to get an old hand dug well to where we can use it. We are not off grid, but we still need to get the well going to where it is usable. Thankfully, someone gave me the name of a "well seasoned" plumber who has the years of local experience we needed for our situation.
Awesome to see that you have water, Congratulation Heath. You have worked so hard and put in countless hours into building your family home and with the love and support of Cedar and the children. Heath you are some man, great video as always. We are with you all the way and your subs love you :) :)
Dog Proved All The Hard Work, Paid Off. You Should Be Proud Of Your Work. No Half Ass Job, A Plan You Followed. Well Done. Life By The Drop!Water Is Life. Tires Earth Walls Great Idea.
Finally !!! You have your water , well done ! Again of all the channels i watch , you sir are the Hardest Worker of them all !!! Your family is very lucky to have you !!!
Dude, I love watching your homestead vids. So gratifying. The homestead on a hillside thing is the ticket. Gravity fed water that's filled by a solar powered pump -- ideal solution. Endless water for free (okay - except the materials and the TON of work to get it built, but that's "a good price to pay.") A couple extra pumps, a replacement solar panel or two, some extra pex/poly pipe -- you're good to go for generations. The permaculture things you can do with sculpting the land for water to flow down your hill, from holding pond to garden, through swales and orchards, to the paddocks, the birds, to rice paddies with ducks (research that) to a fish pond and the house -- with fire suppression and all the other good stuff -- it's amazing. You can turn that hillside into a garden of Eden over time. Best part -- you've built in the water -- now you can just add to the plan each year. Try to plan in your long-term permaculture design now, so even if you don't do big parts of it for years, your know where things will go. And keep that charcoal from your burn piles -- amazing soil ammendment, as I'm sure you know -- loads you can do with biochar. You're living a dream I've had for years. I'm sure there are plenty of days where you curse that hill, but the ability to have water flow down through your Eden -- and that view -- I'd kill for a property like that. Can't do many of those things on my flat place, but we'll get our hillbilly retreat one fine day. Love your progress and really appreciate you sharing the technical details and evolution of your thought process -- super helpful for guys like me who will also tackle this one day -- keep it up! :-)
Yay water I'm so happy for you and your family. We had a really dry year up here in Saskatchewan and our spring at our Cottage has slowed to a trickle now after all and my parents ran the reservoir tank dry a couple weeks ago which made me really appreciate having running water is a blessing
Wow, it doesn't get more fundamental than that - pumping water for Ruger and seeing you smile makes my day. CONGRATULATIONS and have fun sailing through the rest of your projects! (formerly Susie Q -had to change my profile due to trolls accusing me of being "Qanon")
I share your passion. It really is hard work but worth every bit in gained knowledge and appreciation. Your first source is thru prayer .keep up the great work my friend.
Big step forward in your build process, you can be rightly proud of your accuplishment, so happy for you all, I love the idea of earthship shed, but as you say lots of work. good luck with the next phase of building your dream homestead,
Use pre cast concrete retaining wall blocks (big ones 2x4 ft). They are not cheap but will last forever and if you paint them with black sealer they will retain enough heat to keep things from freezing. You can also add a large window on the south side so that when the sun angle is low it will shine on the tank to help keep it from freezing.
The tire "earth-ship" idea sounds awesome, and quite eco-friendly. Using them instead of them going into a landfill is smart and ecologically much better. The breakdown time for tires being well past your great-great-grandchildren's lifetimes had me rooting in that direction. If course, you'll have to make the decision based on what's best for your family right now as well. Can't be replacing tanks and fittings because of freeze damage.
congrats. Very satisfying for us following too. I must commend you for the knowledge, skills and just plain grit that allows you to provide such an amazing source of reliable water for your homestead and all off grid. Hats off to you.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your videos Sir! You are an inspiration and your hard work & determination should be celebrated! Thank God for Men like you.
What a great accomplishment! If you just want to build a temporary structure around the tank with a relatively high R value just stack bales of hay around it , add a few sheets of xps foam for a roof, then tarp it. In the spring you can feed it to the livestock.
I worked with kids at a primitive skills outdoor program in Utah. I can relate to the desperate feeling when your water source doesn’t work out after a long day hiking. One of the great joys of my home state of Minnesota is the incredible amount of clear, clean surface water in our state. I never took it for granted after 2 years in Utah.
I knew you'd get water! I could tell the higher power was on your side :-) And that is what I love to see! You work so hard! Your videos are my favorite to watch!
I had to come and rejoice with you this fine Sunday morning. I've been watching while you worked so hard trying to get water and now you have it! I am very happy for you and your family.
Well done...[play on words] and another good video. I hope it never runs dry. 2500 gallons of water out of your well will be a good test to see how it recovers. The initial fill up may be the most you pump at any one time. I'm glad you have got it done. Now to the addition...
Congratulations on a job well done Earthship pumphouse and cold cellar novel idea but an excellent one Tell Cedar to bring old clothes and alot of energy U will endure i'm sure of it All the best in you continuing endeavours This has been a majour accomplishment not much wonder you were emotional
A huge step forwards for you, thank you for taking us along on this journey with you. I feel as happy to see that water flow as you do :) keep up the amazing work.
Plans sound great go for the tires/Earthship, well house. Great project for the whole family to do. If you do that then you will know if doing the cellar that way will work for you.
Strawbale shed for the water tank - that will provide both insulation & structure.... Maybe a combination of earthship & strawbales. Stack strawbales, drive rebar through them to anchor them, then plaster with adobe. You can put some beams over the top of the structure to hold some metal roofing... Quick & cheap with huge insulation value.
You'll want to add some type of tie down system, steel banding ect to compress the bales, they do settle a fair bit over time. Probably not a huge concern if it's only for a single season. Also need to consider potential vermin problems, if anything can chew/dig/tunnel through your render you've just made the perfect habitat for any number of creatures/insects. Having said that many people have found ways to make strawbale construction work so it's not a bad idea.
YeeH2O !!!!! Congrats - that is huge. Wish my well house had been covered with dirt. Even in this milder climate I have 2 heat lamps keeping the tank from freezing. God Speed!
I love the style of the water hydrant and the color red obviously suits the name of your ranch❣️✅ and the new Solar system. You are moving towards the goals for your next move. I have watched a few channels with homes made with the cob method and I think they are amazing. Even having an outdoor oven built for summertime baking etc. 👍❤️🙏
Nice pump and hardware. Very much like I install in cisterns up here in the not-that-far-but-far-enough-North. The only thing I do different is when I dig in the tank, I install enough hose to reach out the man-hole, so that I only ever have to enter the tank is before I backfill. After that, everything is on a cable and rope so I can install and service the pump from the surface.
Yes we live a little farther north as well. We have cisterns buried in the ground that never freeze. The water comes out from the bottom so it is well below the frost line. I think I would spend the time and money on a buried cistern and use the above ground tank for extra storage in summer to water the trees and gardens.
Direct bury tanks can be expensive. near-grade or protected tanks can be a bargain when you’re not looking at an 8-foot frost-line, and can get away with a foot or less of frost protection.
Wow! 8 ft Frost line is pretty impressive! I think it's about 4 ft here. Nice not to have to worry about pipes breaking. I've seen where people had to keep wood stoves going in the building where their tanks were, to keep them from freezing up.
The first time I saw a gallon bucket of gasoline burning under a bulk propane tank so the propane wouldn’t stop flowing freaked me right out… thankfully, those days are pretty infrequent, and more thankfully, I’ve got natural gas.
Nice to see that you’re a man who can build a house like a traditional man and also strong enough to cry and admit it. You are a true man. Real men have no fear of weakness 😊 you are doing an amazing job
That is awesome! What a huge milestone, im so happy for y'all. There is nothing quite like the feeling of finally completing a project, even more so when its a vital one like this that gets you a huge step closer to being able to comfortably live up there full time. Following along on your journey developing your land, seeing your unstoppable positive attitude has been such an inspiration! I can't wait to see what's next. Keep up the great work and God Bless
We are on a gravity fed system as well. Have a million gallons of water available when all 3 tanks are full. 4 inch mains all over the 1400 acres complete with a fire hydrants system and fire sprinklers in most buildings. We have 2 wells that feed our system.
I am new to this channel and I know this is an old video I'm trying to watch and listen to all your video's. so far all I can say is amazing, I know what an earth ship is I would have loved to have built one in my younger days. I want to skip a head to see what you did but I think I'm going to wait... Water is life !
Nice job! :) Congrats on getting the water in! :) I solo dug my water well last summer. You can drop 2m. wide concrete rings in the ground and have a backup cistern. Oh vege garden food cooking shower here we come... :)
That is awesome! 👍 It put the biggest smile on my face to see water flow. It looked just like the city for flow and it looked clear. I like well water it always tastes good. Congrats on getting it done. The tire structure is a great idea. My buddy did something like that just north of Newmarket in Ontario. But he used the tires as a mold and used cement then covered it with dirt it works very well. But it was a lot of work and time mind you his room isn't as big as yours needs to be. But it will work well.
That wasn’t low T you were feeling that was the feeling of Assurance.... you have provided the most valuable resource for your family and you now know the wont do with out. Good job keep working hard its been nice watching you accomplish your dreams
Thanks!
Congratulations! Don't apologize for shedding a few tears, you've earned them.
Wow, what a moment! You worked so hard for that water! I am so excited for you and your family! Solar coming together!!! Almost there! God has been with you all along!
You know it!
Yep ever chance he gets to test you he will .
You have worked hard, you are so blessed, the water smelled beautiful from here. The lord loves hard working ppl.

Resourceful, tenacious, knowledgeable, + skilled. Great progress and congrats.
Congrats. Always impressed by your determination and ingenuity

I want to personally thank you for sharing...
Hadn't given any thought on how to develope a spring... But watching you...I've got it now...
There is something internal that I can't put my finger on that is so satisfying about hearing a doggie lap up good fresh water!
Great accomplishment, your doing an amazing job.
Great job I love when you share your stories of your past .God bless you and your family keep the videos coming
Your hard job its paying you back!
Su trabajo tan fuerte y sacrificado esta dando sus frutos!!! 👍💪
Congratulations, fantastic milestones happen only a few times in a lifetime. You will remember this one.
really cool watching this all come alive. BEAUTIFUL thanks for sharing. Congrats on ur new home
Love those heavy-duty hydrants and I notice the handles are drilled so they can be locked down if desired. Beautiful property - very fortunate man

Kaisu Fisken thanks.
When Noah built his Ark he would of loved your help. Good job and hard work is well done. ☺
Congratulations!! Being from the Philippines I really appreciate WATER IS LIFE!!
I believe God blesses those who work hard to provide for their family. Jewels in your crown!
Wanda Arganbright I also believe this...

A momentous day for you and your family. Enjoy the moment, it's thoroughly deserved. Good luck

Fantastic idea, I third that :)
I fourth that. Great idea, and may actually be cheaper than building a wooden structure... at least for the short run.

Nice to see that you’re a man who can build a house like a traditional man and also strong enough to cry and admit it. You are a true man. Real men have no fear of weakness 😊 you are doing an amazing job
Thanks!
Well done good job.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! HARD WORK HAS ITS OWN REWARD
