I'm a Chef by trade and apprenticed under a French chef for 3 years. So, I love having the French culinary flavors in my life on a daily basis. Been a Chef for 20 years and I still love the flavors of the cuisine. Plus it's so diverse depending if you're in Marsielle to the French alp etc. Thank you for the videos.Godbless

When I was in France on Erasmus I really couldn't speak French at all so I had no idea what was happening half the time! I'm properly learning French this time around, nearly twenty years later and I'm really determined to reach a C level CEFR within 2yrs. I do love the food, cheese, wine. Some French were so excited about Beaujolais and it was like 1998 and even now I got excited when I saw Beaujolais in the shop! 😄 It wasn't 1998, though! Maybe I should have kept a bottle back then!
We made a video for a French punk band, though while we were there Le Zab(Zabriskie Point) which was cool and I still listen to them and have the master tapes. I have lots of stories of my time there! 😄

The fromages... so hard to find them overseas (and so expensive when there is one). And yes, the local corner stores are not them same: chippies, chocolate, booze and cigarettes: that’s all they have. No fruit/veggie stand on the sidewalk that makes you want to eat an apple right now

My advise for people: dress like a French, read books, watch European films, eat real food- cook for yourself. Take care of your body like french women. And you practically french.

Right they wake up and go with a little lipstick, some jeans and a white blouse and it’s ok. They don’t stress the full Face or tripping on little things to have everything perfect. They decorate with a lot of books I notice and it’s still ok. They live a simple life and I loved that.

During a summer traveling through France, I immediately felt like after a lifetime of homesickeness I felt I'd arrived home.
So many people looked like family members who are Quebec French. The biggest compliment was at Monet's compound, a British couple gave me hand signals asking that I snap a photo for them. They thought I was a French woman.

22:41 I am French. Some foreigners like to say swear words in French. They seem to think they have to say a lot of swear words like "Putain!", "Merde!", "Bordel!" to sound more French. I don't subscribe to this point of view, I think they are absolutly wrong, they just become rude and vulgar, and absolutely ridiculous. Do I have to say swear words like "Fuck!", "Shit!" or something like that if I want to go to USA or New Zealand?
Should I think that "the minimum that I could do" is swear in English? No, I don't think so.
In France, the minimum that you could do is NOT to swear.

Rosie, could you write down the names of the films that Amber (Ember?) mentioned in the beginning? You're always so good about translating a French phrase into English immediately after saying it, but she doesn't have that reflex. Her French accent is okay, but it's not a native accent, and so I couldn't pick it up... nor the name of the French actor (François So-and-So) she has a crush on!
    Sweet video!

Now, I listened again (it starts at 4:02), and I'm afraid to report that Ember doesn't pronounce "deux" correctly, so I never would have gotten that. The second film was... "Mon ingénue"??? Definitely not Henri Peck. That must have come up later. Thanks for writing, Isabelle!

I dont need makeup at all, but I love to play with makeup and wear bold eyeshadow. Same with bright colors. I love black, but I also live neon. Just depends on my mood. If I lived there, I sure as fuck wouldnt change just to fit it. How stupid. Give me dirty looks then, I dont give a crap

SIMPLE, watch movies fro the 60s and mostly 70s with ALAIN DELON, LINO VENTURA, DE FUNES, YVES MONTAND, BELMONDO, JEAN GABIN ..etc .. and you go to see the difference with crap FRENCH movies today. Please, do that.....you Don, t believe how good was the soundtrack too of this era. It was another time. All French regret this era about movies. Not only me.

    THE FRENCH WARNING :
American tourists in France : to make business ? Well not for me. Sorry. People are not wallets on feet for me. Once again, one mocks the Americans through tourism Industry although they are very intelligent ppl & are curious of History , Art , etc.. Culture is also very important in France even in our local way to express.. I can't help. Yes we can have fun of course , but sometimes.. you never pose enough questions then you judge .. hmm..
The American History is so rich & in art also ! Well at some point, we turn speaking only in French between us mentioning our culture and local wordgames.. Is that rude toward our American guest ? Or else, you don't manage to follow the French rythm ? Once..... I was blocked bc I wrote on FB that Am ppl were ' stupid' .. now you all can access the internet so there's no excuse to be curious or at least to pose cultural questions etc .. Feeling embarassed ? Since when ? DARE THE LOVE of the concept . It would be a pity to have culture shocks on FB.. if it's not the case already. Even the Japanese think they're in conquested land here.. the shock was very harsh last time in Nice with one of them ( he was apatrid)...
Please try to love your own History , the diversity of your local cultures .. yes, there's something intellectual or cultural which might turn tough for you here , you will see with time. I prefer that you pose questions than keeping prejudices or aprioris then spitting on '' the Frogs '' . I blocked Joshua bc he sounded .... as if he knew Europe better than me
