    Your videos are great. I have had a serious neurological disorder for over 15 years. UK doctors cannot understand what it is! They have given me so many MRI scans etc etc.. and still diagnosis evades them. I learnt more from your videos than their attempts to describe a 'non-structural' disorder. Thank you, maybe I should ask them to take a look!

    Mononeuropathies are related to viral infections or posviral sequelae: can L-carnitine, alfa lipoic acid and vit b complex help in this situation? Any more suggestions. I'm a medical doctor from Argentina. Greetings.

    Focal abnormalities of the PNS: Similar ytpes of abnormalities: usually affect one limb at a time
    Mononeuropathy: dysfunction of one nerve way out there
    - Presentation: somatosensory, LMN, autonomic
    - Causes
    -- median neuropathy: (most common of the nerves to the limb)
    --- somatosensory Sx: pain, tingling
    --- LMN Sx: muscle atrophy near thumb
    -- facial neuropathy: (most common of the nervse in the face):
    --- LMN Sx: Bell's Palsy: muscle weakness on one side of face:
    Radiculopathy: perispinal nerve lesion: dermatome and myotome are only used for teritories supplied by nerves rooted immediately in the spinal chord
    - Presentation: somatosensory, LMN, autonomic
    -- Somatosensory:
    --- pain (shooting down)
    --- numbness: dermatomal, lateral leg & emdial foot)
    -- LMN: weakness/wasting: myotomal in some msucles of the leg
    - Causes
    -- Sciatica (L5)
    --- Somatosensory: pain: rapidly descending
    Both:
    - Presentaiton
    -- somatosensory: PAIN, though in differnt pattern
    -- LMN
    -- autonomic
    - Etiology

    This is the first video ever that describes precisely what I have been experiencing. Thank you! Are there execersises to reduce the dermatome/myotome in the leg? My RA has slowly moved up both legs over the past five years or so. Probably doe to spondylosis. Any tips would be appreciated.

      You are welcome. RA is usually shorthand for rheumatoid arthritis, which is a disorder of the musculoskeletal system instead of the nervous system. There can be some overlap in symptoms, but the pathology is different.

      @@MatthewBJensen Greeting from Australia. Really enjoy your presentations.
      I have recently had issues with tingling and numbing sensations in both feet and both hands. Is it common for someone to have both feet and hands occurring at the same time?

    Can Mononeuropathy (at the wrist, for example) cause pain up (at the elbow, for example) ?

    • @MatthewBJensen
      @MatthewBJensen  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome. Yes, the pain of mononeuropathy can be experienced at some distance from the lesion location, like up to the elbow for median neuropathy at the wrist.

    • @MatthewBJensen
      @MatthewBJensen  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be unusual for these disorders.
